Background:

First off, I want to sincerely thank you for taking the time to visit my page.

My name is Eddie Guchu. I was born in Nairobi, Kenya and currently living in the beautiful City of Perth in Western Australia.

A Story About Me…

I came to Perth in 2005 to study a Masters degree in information systems management and successfully completed that in 2007.

I started working in the IT outsourcing industry as a network support engineer in 2008 and by the end of 2012 I was working as a senior network engineer for a mining resources company. I was doing very well and earning a six - figure income.

Considering how hard I had worked since first arriving in Perth from Kenya, I thought this new money would bring me all the satisfaction in my World. On the contrary, the more successful I got in my work, the more unfulfilled I became with life and how I was living it.

A few years earlier when I left Kenya for Australia, this 100k+ job would have been a wild dream. How dare you not feel content!? I told myself. I will be very honest with you, it had been a long road to where I was in that job. But my dear friend the lie only lasts so long. I knew deep down that I didn't belong inside those cubicle walls. As grateful as I was for that success, that was not who I was.

The more I thought about it, the more I knew, if I didn't do anything to change, life was going to be one dull unfulfilled trip.


Time For Change:

I resigned in February of 2013 and relocated back to Kenya armed with my entrepreneurship dream and uncertainty about how it was going to turn out.

Since that day in 2013, it has been a roller coaster of events in my life, awakening experiences, self-discovery, and a myriad of character building opportunities.

Failure:

While in Kenya (2013-2015), I set up 2 businesses and failed at both. I also lost quite a bit of money. On the upside, the lessons are priceless. In hindsight, I reckon everyone needs a good story about their journey.

I moved back to Perth in April of 2015 and asked to have my old job back and I got it.

3 months later I got laid off overnight...literary. I wish I were making that up to tell a nice story. The reason: I was an expensive resource in a project that needed a budget cut. I was a just a number and that was just the way it was.

And how many people have betted their lives and those of their families on this kind of model? At least 95% of all the people you and I know today right?

It's a harsh reality. Many people have outsourced their lives and those of loved ones to someone else. Unfortunately, those same jobs are disappearing every day. It's on the news on a regular basis. People affected by job cuts end up being forced to look after themselves without the skills to do so. They've never had to live that way. How does the society that put them there expect them to make it?

I know a bit about that because the failure I experienced in my first 2 ventures crushed me! I wish I had a better way of putting it.

But that failure was the greatest thing that ever happened to me. It woke me up to the fact that I needed a new kind of education.


What I Do Today:

Today, my life revolves around my own personal development, music, travelling and entrepreneurship. I also teach others how they can do what I did to escape the society status quo.

Designing a new life in ones own terms is one of the most rewarding journeys I believe. I also know how difficult that change is. That is why I share my personal story on this page. In short, you need courage and you need to really believe that there is a better way to go through life than what you know today.

The Really Cool Stuff About Me:

Let us see, I am 38 years old, single but I have been married once. I am passionate about music and grew up listening to a lot of 90s hip hop, rap, soul and r&b.

I enjoy travelling, seeing new places and meeting new people from all walks of life.
This is why a lifestyle business works really well for me. All I need is a laptop and an Internet connection.

I also find nature absolutely fascinating!

I grew up in a single-parent home and only met my dad once or twice when I was 5 years old.

My Mum (my hero and queen), my younger Sister and my 1-year-old Nephew Nathan are my closest family. They all live in Kenya at the moment. I draw quite a lot of inspiration about life from my Mum. It hasn't always been that way. I was not the best teenager by any measure but time and space can change a lot of things. Today we get along very well. She doesn't always understand me but I think deep down she knows I am walking a different path.

The most important thing I have learnt from her is having FAITH. When I was growing up, single parents weren't exactly looked at with envy and grace if you know what I mean. Something happened one day and She just became unstoppable. She did whatever she had to do so that my Sister and I got a decent education up until university. One of her ventures, where she farmed chicken in our beautiful backyard that took away all the play space was not my favourite ones but that is where she found her breakthrough. Bless her heart.

I am a student of personal development, self-awareness and higher consciousness. This journey did not come about as a result of a standard walk in the park. A few events in my life got me on this track. Some of it was not pretty. I am glad it wasn't. Otherwise, I wouldn't be here writing this bio today. If it were not for those experiences, I am not sure if I would have been motivated enough to start searching for myself. Or maybe it would have occurred by default, I am guessing probably not. I have learnt that life is intentional. The universe is intentional. The sun doesn't just decide to rise in the east and set in the west and come Tuesday when it's windy and cloudy it rises from the west. Crazy thought! There is order with intent and for very good reasons too. So why would my life be any different?


I love helping people. I would like to contribute more to life while I am still here and provide for children, especially in less fortunate families.
I definitely like shiny things.... although strangely enough, while we on the shiny things topic, I am not sure where I stand with fast cars! I am curious to find out after I buy the Lamborghini. I love big houses and I believe the appropriate term here is mansions. For my birthday please get me a designer watch, ear bling and all that stuff in between and we will be cool friends any day.

Final Thought:

I am forever grateful for this gift called life and being able to have that breath of air every morning I wake up. There are NO guarantees out here, something I have come to understand deeply. I rarely go to church, and when I do, it’s usually when I am in Nairobi. I was brought up as a Catholic... I wouldn't tell my Mum about this church thing :) However, I do say my prayers every morning, giving thanks to life and to my family's well-being.
