MAINTAINING GOOD BRAIN FUNCTION

I've just come across a wonderful article on foods that help the functioning of our brains, that I wanted to share with you.

Latest research has enabled scientists to remark that brain health and functioning is under our control, regardless of age or gender.  There are certain foods that prevent memory loss and prevent the onset of Alzheimer's disease.

1 - EGGS  Contain a compound which is necessary for the proper functioning of brain cells.  As an example, they are essential for pregnant women while their baby is developing in the womb.

2 - FISH  Contains lots of omega 3 fatty acids which are healthy for the heart, but also DHA which is essential for the health of the brain.  Tuna, mackerel and salmon are rich in DHA.

3 - BERRIES  Different kinds of berries, for example strawberries and blueberries help to preserve the brains natural processes.  Blueberries for example, help to prevent the onset of memory loss.

4 - OILS  Oils such as olive oil, are rich in vitamin E, which protects the brain cells and nerve cells to their best state.

5 - WALNUTS  These nuts have a fantastic combination of; folate, vitamin E, omega 3 and antioxidants, which also help to maintain good brain function, in particular memory function.

6 - AVOCADO  Rich in vitamin E, this wonderful fruit is also rich in vitamin C which prevents the onset of Alzheimer's.

7 - SUNFLOWER SEEDS  Another great source of vitamin E for the maintainence of good brain function including memory function.

8 - PEANUTS  Peanuts and its related products, are yet another good source of vitamin E, and also fats which are healthy for the body, for example unsaturated fats.  These help in the vascular activity of the body, providing good circulation, thus maintaining good brain function.

9 - RED WINE  In moderate amounts, if consumed with healthy food, it is believed that red wine prevents the onset of Alzheimer's disease.

10 - GREEN LEAFY VEGETABLES  Rich in vitamin E and folate, vegetables such as spinach and broccoli, are very healthy for the body.

The research states that the effects of all the above foods are applicable, if taken into our daily diets.
