Knowing how and why emotions are made is the first step to taking control of them. As a hypersensitive person I find it extremely helpful to know what it is that is happening inside my body that can, what at times feel like, instantly change my mood. My whole perception of reality changes along with this mood switch.
It can be difficult at times to remember when in this state of mind that what is happening is often physiological. Often you can get wrapped up, overwhelmed and entangled in the sea of emotions that life seems to throw at us. It becomes easy to forget that you are very much in control.
Recently I began reading a book called How Emotions Are Made and already it has changed the way I view emotions. Im more aware of when I can feel Im a about to get emotional and for what reason. I still have a long way to go to reach the level of mental strength that I desire but reading this book was a step in the right direction.
