My Mentor, an extremely successful entrepreneur who's managed to create multiple 7-figure businesses online, has recently suggested me to read "The Traveler's Gift: 7 Decisions that Determine Personal Success" by Andy Andrews.
He is a person I trust and respect immensely, and still, I scratched my head the moment he suggested the title.
Not because I knew the author or the book, but because I immediately started thinking "...great, ANOTHER self-development book..."
The truth is that life, how we go about it and our success (or lack thereof) are a matter of perspectives.
How many times do we hear stories from friends, colleagues or extremely successful entrepreneurs about how a single change in their perspective of the world, their actions and their own self, triggered a tumultuous series of events that brought them to the breakthrough they were looking to achieve.
Usually, when asked what made the real difference between success and failure for them, most of the people are able, in retrospective, to point to the exact moment in time when their light bulb switched on, and they exactly remember what they were doing and where.
From that moment on, as they say, the rest is history.
Until you read the book, it's hard to put into words what it will do to your life and outlook.
Even if I described it perfectly to you, I still wouldn't be able to have you get it until you read it for yourself.
The first few pages, I'll admit, left me somewhat unimpressed and not exactly overwhelmed...
After having read other books on self-development, some parts seemed redundant and even a bit on the sad side... but I trusted my Mentor enough, that I didn't think he would give me a 'transformational book' it if there wasn't something more to it.
And so I have gone on reading until I reached a specific line that literally had me feeling like a switch was turned on inside me... I could swear I heard it 'click'!
So I have kept on reading avidly until my jaw dropped and another line just in the following chapter gave me another kick (I won't say which one).It is a real discovery, and I cannot It is a real discovery, and I cannot thank my Mentor enough for recommending it to me.
All it takes for us to realize our success is a change in perspective.
Similar to a very long journey, whose destination we do not see but that we can visualize, one thing you know for sure: your starting point.
As any good navigator would do, you start from that point to determine the trajectory to your desired destination.
When the distance is so great, even the slightest change of direction (i.e. your perspective), can take you completely off-track and, at the end, you find yourself nowhere near your anticipated destination.
All this, only for an apparently infinitesimal distraction. Perspectives ARE this powerful.
They will determine if your journey will take you to your intended destination.
This great book has the potential of giving you not just any perspective, but the one that is RIGHT for YOU.
The more we have and the higher the chances we have to pick the one that is right for us.
I am SO sure you'll find this book as insightful as I did.
And don't forget: whatever you decide to do in your life, never stop to develop yourself.
This is a great self-development book and I keep applying my learnings from it each and every day.
To your success!
