One of the key aspects of business is the value you can add to people’s lives, the more value you add, the more people will be willing to pay and there is nothing wrong with putting a price on your assets. One of the biggest stumbling blocks small business make is their ability to market their product. You can have the best product or be offering the best service in the world, but if no-one knows about it then no-one will buy it. This may seem obvious, but there are many companies that fail to do so.
Before taking up the role as an online marketer, I used to be a door-to-door marketer for a company. The amount of negativity I would come across was astounding, in some respects I can understand why, but in others I just felt that there is no need. In my head, I was just an ordinary bloke trying to "earn a crust", but the stigma attached to marketing/advertising often left people getting quite violent just because I knocked their door. However, it is amazing to see how nice people are when you're offering something they wanted. Because of this, there are many small businesses that turn their noses up at marketing because of how seeing adverts or people knocking on their door makes them feel and so choose not to market their products/services themselves.
One of the reasons you may have gone into business in the first place is because you love the product/service or because you have spent time mastering your skills and you want to monetise them. So, tell people about it!
However you decide to market your product, you are going to need to be a little pushy in the sense that you need to get your product in front of their face whether it be on TV, online or even door-to-door marketing. If you wait for people to need your service or product and search for it, then you open yourself up to a lot of competition as there are many companies that could be offering the same thing and might even be at a more affordable price which puts you down the list of potential sellers.
One of the best things about marketing online is that you don't have to deal with the negativity. In fact the only time you really hear from people is when you are offering something they like which is a bonus and you can target the people who would be most likely to buy your product so there can be some strategic marketing involved. But when you get it right, you'll know about it! On the down side, marketing online can be quite expensive and if you don’t know what you are doing, it can get quite frustrating as with all technology in the wrong hands.
For many of us that don’t have a product or services to offer but have sufficient skills using technology and marketing strategies, this can be quite a bonus because both large and small companies alike could use the skills and intuition of the affiliate marketer and as marketing through affiliation, you can sell other people’s products or services for a small commission. One of the best things about this method is there is no limit to the amount of products you can sell so you can reach out to all demographics of society with different products and services, even offering a subscription where once someone buys a product, you will get a monthly income of the agreed amount. However, that’s not the best thing about it, because the products/services are sold through the marketer and not to the marketer, the marketer doesn't pay a penny. How does that sound? Making money for nothing whilst adding value to society and helping the economy grow!
