I have just come back from seeing a close friend. This friend we will call Tom, Tom is a generous kind man, succesful in his field of business and has strong value's. We discussed in depth religion, Tom attends church each Sunday and respects Sunday as a day of rest and reflection of his prior week. His wife is the daughter of a minister therefore religion plays a large part in their lives.
Tom astounded me by explaining, if he has to fill in an official form and it asks for his religion he writes down " none". Wow I thought this is going to be an interesting conversation. Tom's view is he has deep faith, however he feels " religion " is more mans interpretation and the end result does not reflect the the teachings of the good book. POWERFULL statement.
Tom helped our family get through some recent traumatic times, even though he is extremely busy he spoke to me on a daily basis during this time, he gave us reassurance, comfort and security that we could get through these dark times. WE DID.
During the visit we had one of his children in the car with us, we were traveling to meet up with Tom and the rest of his family, a vehicle was parked at the side of the road, it had obviously broke down. Toms child made a statemnet that if Tom had been with us he would have stopped to see if he could help. I thought to myself Tom must read some powerfull self development books.
Tom and I sat down the next day, on our own, for breakfast, I asked Tom if he had read " Think and Grow Rich ", "The power Of The Subconscious Mind" etc The answer was No, he had never heard of these type of books. I was even more intrigued, could a man have all these values that were just in his persona ? I knew the chance's of this were very low.
Now Sunday came around and we all went to church, ( something we do now and again , mainly at Christmas) I found my answer, Tom had with him a well used bible that had quite obviously seen better day's, I also noticed he had notes sticking out of the pages. I made a comment regarding his bible and he casually said " Oh I read and study each day !!" There was my answer to his attitude in his life, he reads and puts into practice the first self development book ever written.
I am now happy and fulfilled achieving my purpose, I have a property business and an online business. I have learnt to serve others ( as I hope I am doing now ) respect others for what they are trying to achieve no matter how big or small their ambition. I work on my attitude each day and look to help anyone I can on a daily basis.
