It can be more effective with a longer term effect than paid advertising in attracting clients to your business. Blogging can also help convert cold leads to warm and interested potential customers with the value and insights you provide with your content.
2)It helps people to better find your website and other related content through optimising your SEO content.
Did you know that there are more than a billion websites on the internet!!! Crazy, right. Sometimes we forget how big this world wide web is. Blogging helps to differentiate your website online and as well, consistent blogging content helps to make your website more visible and findable online through the various search engines.

This may seem to you a trivial thing to land at number 3, yet how many times have you gone to a website and because you couldn't figure out who was behind the website, you left and looked for another company to help you.? People like doing business with people, so adding a blogging element to your website helps people to get to know you as a business owner and thereby, minimise this bounce rate.
4) Blogging increases your online authority.
Imagine one piece of content that consistently bring 10 to 20 people who you consider your potential ideal clients to your doorstep? Well, that's what blogging can do for your business once done correctly. If you create your website with a blog that consistently provides good quality content answering a need in your niche, it will likely become a known "go to" website in your market. That beautiful result is called "online authority".
5) Blogging can help you gather insights on your marketplace.
This is a great and often overlooked key benefit of blogging. Potential and current customer engage with your blogs through viewing, sharing and commenting. Capturing and reviewing the statistics on customer engagement can help you to better understand the needs within your market and cater future content, services and products to address that need.
Your audience can, for example, comment with questions or requests that though may be small, can turn out to be lightbulb moment that leads you down a wonderful and dynamic growth journey for your business.
So now you see the huge long term payoff for you to start blogging for your business, here are some simple steps to get started
1)Make a list of unique topics and subject areas that you can speak to.
Grab a piece of paper and brainstorm on the topics that you think your clients would be interested in and are an expertise or knowledge that you have. In this brainstorming stage write down all and every day and then come back and review, strike, adjust and prioritise as you see fit. For example, if you are an animal groomer, perhaps you can talk about why and how to groom your pet in preparation for the upcoming summer vacation and related travels
2)Research online to see the other content and therefore your competitors in that space.
The three things you want to note are:
a) The type and quality of your competition. What types of companies are put forward content in the area and what type of content? Are they the same size as you? How professional are their websites? Is the blog content that's on the first page good, relevant and current or can you produce a much better piece of insightful information?
b)The volume of your competition. Are there lots of results that match the subject you searched? If there are a high volume of results with several paid placements and ads, this is usually an indication that you have found a high volume keyword. You can validate this by looking up the same phrase in the free Google keyword planner.
c)What is being included in the content results and can you produce a unique and more value added piece in this space and how? This is the key and final step as you want to ensure that if you add content to this niche or area that is giving value AND differentiates you from the herd (big or small).
3) Create and publish your content and most importantly distribute your content online.
Particularly if you website is new to blogging, please, please, please, ensure you don't just post a blog and leave it only on your one website of the billion websites and trillion web pages online but instead take it a step further and do what is known as syndicating your content- share it socially, guest blog part of the content on another more popular site and then point to your full blog post for further details.
4)Finally, and most important measure and use the insights your results!
What gets measured get done! Ensure you grab and apply all the insights that blogging brings to your business by tracking and learning from the engagement on your content to 1) decide which content should you continue to provide in your blogs and 2)adjust your businesses services and or products to better serve your clients.
