What's your communication plan look like?
What is stopping you getting your message accross?
For many people the thought of speaking to people about what they do in order for them to make a sale is scarey but if you approach your conversations with people differently you can take the terror out of talking.
First, consider how you feel when someone phones to try to sell you something. I dont know about you but I rarely give them time to finish their second sentence. Why? I am not ready to buy. I feel its an invasion of my time.
When you hear about a product a friend has used that they are happy with you listen. You might not be ready to buy it but you will store it away as good to know. If you go to a shop to look for a product or ideas do you respond better to the sales person that is available when you need to ask questions or the one following you around the shop chipping in and distracting you from your task- to look. You might buy but want time to consider your options.
So, what do we want? I want an experience. I want to see how it will look, feel and work. This is why videos are doing well on social media. Its why the online gamers do well. They are demonstrating the game and how it works. I can get a taste of what I can expect.
When you want to buy something these days it would be rare for most poeple to wonder the shops. Many of us are searching online before we go. Many of us are buying online and not even going to the shops. I still like going to the shops to look at what I buy. If I need a new stove I want to open the oven and look in. Same with a couch. I need to sit on it and see how it feels. However I might look online first and if I can see how it works and see how it might look in a home, hear about its functions I am going to opt to watch a video online about it before I go shopping.
The way we sell and what we say has changed. You can video what you have to sell. Practice and demostrate it to an audience you never see. This might mean you need a video recorder, lighting, editing equipment and audio equipment. All new skills to learn. Communication is changing. Are you keeping up or are you still doing the same thing you've always done.
If you want to keep up you need to keep your finger on the pulse. Join a community of marketing leaders, do a course, employ someone to do it for you.. even read a book. However you do it you need to keep current, take control of your communication and dont assume old methods will work or ever worked. You need a proper marketing plan. Don't you? Yes and if you dont think you do then you will get the same results you have always had. How much better could it be for you?
Invest in your communication plan. If you need help. Let us know or check out the idea on your website in our blogs and articles.
