 I want to extend my uttermost apologies to you on behalf of the company for this occurrence.  As per company new inventions, and innovations, we introduced new automated scanning machines that have been tested and proven to handle the duties of cashiers and customer service representatives from henceforth. So please be informed that your services will end on 31/10/2018. You will all receive your terminal and other benefits compensations’’……..,…..

SO I have been a good hard working cashier, always smiling to the customers, packing items and representing the company’s image. In August 2018, I was selected best cashier of the month because I follow the golden rules of a cashier (GREET, INFORM, ASK, THANK.) But why today am I receiving this notice? Is because the enemy took over.

According to further explanation by my manager, he states that machines are good to work with because;

·         They don’t fall sick. And don’t ask sick leaves which humans do.

·         They need no public holidays, anniversary celebrations, leave, and special days.

·         Machines don’t take off day and don’t go for prayers. They work 24/7

·         Machines don’t ask for salary and employment benefits.

·         They don’t need air tickets and medical check-ups that involve huge cash.

·         They do not have mood swings, bad days and overwhelm.

·         He also said, machines don’t get break time, don’t get emotional, angry and tired.

·         Machines work more smart, faster and are time alert. Elektra.

He goes ahead and explains that jobs are in a state of transition/change, which is causing anxiety. There is the growing division of job opportunities between high skilled- and low-skilled. Unemployment and underemployment is getting rampant especially among young people because companies are busy automating jobs and since these machines can handle a large volume of work

 

But who are directly affected by these co-workers machines right now?

·         I am a cashier

·         We are karaoke singers and dancers

·         I am a receptionist

·         Security guard

·          Mss Customer service assistant

·         I am a driver

·         I am the waitress/waiter

·         TAX COLLECTOR

·         Machine Operators.

 

WHY ARE WE THE MOST AFFECTED AND VULNERABLE?

Because many of our activities/duties that we carry out today have the potential to be automated.
