Everybody knows about the big thinking philosophy, there are a lot of books talking about the magic of thinking big, and how that could impact your life in so many areas. One thing that you`ll not find in many books is how to set goals, by thinking in an unconventional, unreasonable way, by thinking in surges and not in increments, by setting the standards so high that people will think you`re crazy, a maniac, an obsessed.
Today, I`m gonna introduce to you an exercise that will change the way you operate so far, forget the reasonable goals, the play it safe, and by the way, if you feel too scared to do it, it`s ok, being a top achiever is not for everybody.
I want you to grab a piece of paper and a pen, or you can type on your computer, your goals divided into the following categories:
- Income (the amount of money coming in):
- Net worth (total money - debt - the value of your house, if you have one):
- Physical condition (maybe you want to lose x amount of pounds in an x amount of time):
- Family (do you want to retire a family member, or help one in need?):
- Recreational (could be 1 trip a year, or the sports car you`ve always wanted):
- Professional (do you want to master a skill or move up in your company?):
- Spiritual (helping the local church or give $10 000 to charity, for example):
After writing these goals down, or the first thing that comes to your mind, you will write the same goals, again, but this time you`re gonna 10X the initial goals. Let`s say your initial goal is $10 000 in income, lose 20 pounds in 60 days and give away $10 000 to charity, this time your 10X goals will be $100 000 in income, 20 pounds in 30 days and $100 000 to charity. Notice that 10X doesn`t always apply in numbers, it just means a bigger expansion, because losing 200 pounds in 30 days, might not be that healthy, ok!
Now, you`re probably thinking: "how the hell I`m gonna do that?"
"As long as you're going to be thinking anyway, think big." - Donald Trump
Don`t worry, the purpose of this exercise is to condition your mind to expand at a whole new level... it`s also a good way for you that don`t write your goals often, realize that maybe your daily actions need to be different in order to achieve such massive targets. Now, to help you with the next step, I want you to write down 10 things that are preventing you from achieving the things you want!
Once you complete both exercises, you`ll have a better understanding of where you need to go, you`ll gain a sense of direction and your decisions, from now on, if you're really committed to it, will be aligned with goals you`ve just written.
One last challenge you to is to write those goals down every single day, the initial or the 10X goals, it doesn't matter, you`ll be ahead of most people, that only set theirs once in a lifetime, only you know where to go and only you know the limiting beliefs and obstacles to face in order to achieve the things you want.
Thanks for reading!
