Stop fear being a headwind and let it be your tailwind

Stop fear being a headwind and let it be your tailwind is a paraphrase of a Jimmy Iovine quote that immediately resonated with me when I heard it.

Something about this quote spoke to something in me, but I didn't fully realise until recently when I was hanging out with one of my good friends. My friend had called over to talk about motivation. Most importantly he wanted to get the secret of what keeps me going on a daily basis - currently my average day looks like this;

5am - get up make breakfast
5.15am - work on my affiliate marketing business
8.15am - go to my day job (co-owner and mechanic at an extremely busy car service, sales and repair garage)
3pm - go to the gym (on lunch break)
4pm - back to work
7pm - back home...Phew!!

The thing was, I couldn't really say. I knew I was 'driven', but by what and how? I really wanted to give him the answer, share the secret, but I didn't know what it was.

In the days after I consciously tried to pin-point the source of my motivation, that's when the Jimmy Iovine quote came back to me and I realised my motivation, my drive, was fear!

I'm not talking about fear in the usual sense, the negative emotion that stops you from doing things. I'm talking about a very positive fear, one that pushes you to get out there and chase your dreams and achieve your goals.

Power of Positivity

I've always been interested in people who are so single mindedly driven towards their goal, whatever it may be, that they have no room to consider the thought of not achieving it. These people have a crystal-clear vision of exactly what they want and an unshakable belief that they will achieve it. Such people will always realise their vision, with such a powerful mindset.

Former UFC lightweight and featherweight champion Conor McGregor is a great example of this. Here are some videos where he speaks about the Law of Attraction, the power of visualisation and a positive frame of mind.

But here's the rub...

What if your not completely sure of exactly what you want? You may not have that crystal-clear vision for your future. I am one of those people. I have a general idea of what I want my future to look like, but not very specific. So how do I stay motivated?

I concentrate on what I know I don't want.

This can be much easier for visualisation, if you can't get a clear vision of your life, exactly as you want it, it may be easier to visualise exactly what you don't want.

This is where that Jimmy Iovine qoute hits home for me ~ Let Fear Be Your Tailwind.

When you take your fear, channel it in a positive way and harness it to inspire you, rather than hold you back, it can become a vehicle that you can use to propel you towards realising your dreams.

Here is the man himself, in his own words;

My Fears Become My Vehicle

I'm scared of having to work long hours and not spend as much time with my family as I would like. I'm scared of not having my health, scared of not being able to use my body to the fullest because of being over-weight.

All of these fears are massive positives for me, they keep me healthy, happy and fulfilled. Through joining Six Figure Mentors and starting a new business in affiliate marketing. Through excercising and eating healthily and through striving to maximise every one of my 24 hours per day.

I have made fear my ally.

I hope this blog has been of value to you and inspired you to view your fears in a new light. No more will they be part of a negative set of emotions, but a positive driving force.

As always, I'm very grateful to you for taking the time to read my blog post.

I will leave you with one last compelling quote;

''everything you've ever wanted is on the other side of fear'' ~ George Addair.
