Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.
God's message to us here, is that He has given us the grace to get through this day, the day that we are in. Tomorrow is another day, and will come with it's own situations for us to deal with. Therefore, God wants us to focus on today and what is right in front of us.
In my own life, this is a lesson that I am learning right now. With the challenges that I am facing, I'm teaching myself to focus on today, and today only. This is a big challenge for me, as I have made the mistake of always looking forward, instead of enjoying the process of my life in the moment. By being mindful of living in the moment, I'm learning that there is great beauty in the moment. I just have to come back to a place of peace, and then I realise how wonderful the moment is.
As God has given us the grace for the present, when we are at peace in our minds, we can appreciate the joy and beauty of the moment and feel great about our lives and God's purpose for it. My own lesson, is to let go of a need to control and live with the understanding that my life is in God's hands, and He will take me where I need to go.
The advantages of living in the moment and not thinking about tomorrow, or next week, or next month, or next year are so many:
PEACE, JOY, FULFILLMENT, GRATITUDE, ENLIGHTENMENT, PURPOSE, and I'm sure so many more.
Today is the only day that you are guaranteed, so live it with PASSION AND PURPOSE and enjoy the moment that you are in.
