     WHAT REALLY WORKS?

  Having spent the last 35 years exploring fitness and healthy lifestyle trends and fads it is not surprising to me, that people are so confused about what really works in the area of healthy weight loss. There are fad diets, exercise devices and expensive procedures touted as 'the latest' solutions by so-called experts. So let's try to simplify it and give you the first 3 steps to healthy weight loss.

  Excessive weight gain is a 'disease' of our modern day sedentary, fast food lifestyle. Eating and drinking have become a 'crutch' for those dealing with high stress and anxiety in their lives. People have less and less time for anything other than surviving. Most work 2 to 3 jobs 6 days a week. We have become trapped in what I term, 'the debt slavery rat race'! Consuming, consuming, working, working ..with no energy for anything other. The last priority is a healthy YOU! It's time to change that.

  So.. here is where we start ... with YOU!    

   Here are the first 3 Steps to Healthy Weight Loss.

    Step 1. Make the Commitment Now.

 Ask yourself - "Am I willing to consider my healthy lifestyle needs first? "   Yes, you love your family and your friends but just consider this. If you are not healthy and not full of vibrant life to 'be there for them', then what is the point? Don't 'die' on them ... choose to live!  Choose to be healthy for the one's you love, you and they deserve it!

 Set realistic goals. It is important to give yourself enough time for your body to adapt and rebuild so that the weight loss can be permanent. I suggest a goal each month and commit for at least 1 year.

 
  Step 2. Limit your Food intake.

 Have a look back over the past week, consider what foods and eating habits do you have? Start a daily diary for the next week listing what you eat for each meal, snacks in between and when you eat. This will help bring some consciousness to your eating. 

 Start with making the portions you eat smaller and cutting out the comfort snacks. Eat as many unprocessed foods as you can and increase fruits and raw vegetables. Buy locally from markets and farm stands. Stop eating fast foods, pizza, pastries, soda's and as many foods as you can 'with an ingredient list '.Discipline is the key here. You are what you eat!

  Look at it this way..... Your body is constantly rebuilding itself and it's up to you to provide it with the best possible 'materials'. Preferably foods with the highest life force ... the freshest available!

 Did you know, your outer layer of skin, the epidermis, replaces itself every 35 days. You are given a new liver every six weeks (a human liver can regenerate itself completely even if as little as 25% remains of it). Your stomach lining replaces itself every 4 days, and the stomach cells that come into contact with digesting food are replaced every 5 minutes. Our entire skeletal structures are regenerated every 3 months. Your entire brain replaces itself every two months. And the entire human body, right down to the last atom, is replaced every 5-7 years.  

  Just in changing your diet, your body's natural regeneration allows the body to lose weight, change shape, detoxify and feel healthier.

  Step 3. Raise your Exercise Level.

 The foods you are eating are the fuel for your body, so in order to lose excess weight, it is important to 'burn' up those calories / that fuel. If you raise your exercise level and lower the amount of food you eat, your body will be required to use up stored fats and calories. This will, over time, change your overall bodyweight. Burn more calories than your intake.

  A nourishing walk in nature is one of the best forms of stressless exercise. Schedule a minimum of 20 minutes each day. You could also look at joining a gym or getting one of the newer technology whole body exercise machines. My favourite is the Full Body Vibration Platform Exercise Machine or this smaller variety of platform. All you do is stand on this for 10 minutes every day. I use it to 'kick start' my day. These platform machines were created for the space program and are every easy and a lot of fun. I have found using one of the basic models completely adequate. These devices can also help activate and detox the lymphatic system strengthing the muscles and joints.
