Constant happiness is not natural, however it wouldn’t be going out on a limb to say everyone would like to be in a good mood/state of mind as much as possible. We can’t always control what happens to us, but we are responsible for how we react. We can choose to try and see the lessons learned and the silver lining. We can make a conscious effort to pick ourselves up. As one of my past mentors advised me: “Carry your own weather with you. Even if everyone else is walking around under a dark cloud, you can always choose to be in the sunshine.”

Here are some ideas/resources to get you lifted:

Music –  listen to upbeat and positive tunes

Funny clips – vines, pranks, funny animal voiceovers. You name it, you can probably find it online.

Dancing – like no one is watching

Get out into nature – breath that fresh air in deep, take in the beauty

Meditate – calm your inner dialogue and anxiety

Think of happy memories – like fun holidays or silliness with friends

Watch a comedy

Read inspiring quotes or funny memes

Get it off your chest – draw or write down your troubles then tear up the paper/burn it/throw it away/all of the above

Exercise – get those endorphins pumping!

Manage your sleep – ensuring you’re well rested often assists with mood and emotion regulation

Singing- belt out some tunes you love

Hugs – make you feel good through the release of oxytocin which is noted to boost positive emotions and calm the central nervous system

Once back in a good headspace you’ll be ready to tackle the world and kick some goals!!
