Clint Eastwood speaks of power coming from self-respect, which seems to be very different than what respect Dirty Harry’s Magnum 44 might suggest when pointed in our general direction. (See the below clip.)

Chairman Mao the leader of the Chinese Communist party once said (political) power comes out the barrel of a gun. Though he was responsible for the deaths of up to fifty million of his own countrymen, I would suggest he really didn’t have power, he only had force. That might seem a bit counter-intuitive until we look deeper into what real power means, and what force means.

If we understand real lasting power doesn’t need force but is relational in nature is freely received. Alternatively, force is something that is imposed. We can’t empower anyone when they have no self-respect or self-discipline. Those living in fear and self-loathing can easily be cowered to succumb to the wishes of those wielding force. In fact, all too easily, as we see all around us these days.

A fearful person will be all too willing to give away their power to the state when they don’t have enough self-respect and self-disciple to stand up our current collective psychosis of fear. (You might suspect what I’m referring to.)

Power exists in a leader, ideology, or movement when it is freely followed. No one needs to be forced to follow the lead of what they willingly desire to follow. That is one of the reasons the pen is mightier than the sword, or Magnum 44.

Whether it’s through the persuasion of the pen or some other means, the weakness of force becomes most obvious when leaders lose their ability to force their subjects into submission. When they no longer have swords and guns to impose their fear, terror, suffering, and death upon the masses, they have nothing. Their power is gone.

That’s why tyrants tend not to last long once they lose their ability to enforce their will. Since it’s only through force they can survive, they ruthlessly apply it against any and all their subjects, as we’ve witnessed with Hitler, Stalin and Mao. With the exception of the most ideologically brainwashed ‘useful idiots’, former despots are remembered but not honoured. Rather, they are despised for the force they used against others in serving their own ends. Would anyone in China still revere Mao if they weren’t forced to?

True power comes out of the authenticity of true character where one loves one’s Self unconditionally, and consequently, loves others in Oneness. In this sense, power is of love, force is of fear. Power comes from the truth of the heart. Force is of the ego-mind which cares only for its selfish, egoic delusions of controlling others. But if you love and respect yourself, you will become empowered because others will respect you too, and that leads to power that’s not self-serving. Though Jesus seemed powerless against the brute force of the Romans, his love triumphed in history. So, who had/has more power?

Is there a place for force, Dirty Harrys, Magnum 44s, armies… or when it was necessary to break up my two preschool boys who seemed to enjoy fighting in restaurants?

Yes, of course; in this world where some attempt to force their will, we need cops and armies to protect and serve the public against the violent who have no respect for anyone, not even themselves. Out of the perversity of their deranged egos, they forcibly cheat others out of their liberty, possessions, and lives. This may be a politician as well as a neighbourhood thug.

If they had true power within, they wouldn’t need to use force because they would already be respected for who, in essence, they are.

These are only a few random thoughts that aren’t meant to convince so much as cause us to think of power and force as being different rather than the same. To recontextualize these words might help use power to serve the world because we respect ourselves, and others, rather than force our will through fear.

I’m on holidays in the mountains right now, so will expand on these thoughts later when I have more time.

Meanwhile, Dr David Hawkins’ book, POWER VS FORCE, is a great study for those interested in reading an in-depth discussion on this topic.

What gets you high, other than a buckin’ bronc?

Perhaps, more importantly; what keeps you high? Where do you set your vibe; low or high?  Or, do you just let it happen by allowing others to set it for you? How do you feel most of the time; are you up or down or just blah mediocre.

Let me talk in terms of 'we' rather than 'you' since we all experience emotions, its just a matter of how we manage them by what we think and do.

Are we good with how we feel, or do we wish to reset the dial to something higher, more exciting and joyful? And yet, it can be challenging when life just keeps happening as it does. And so, we keep reacting to what is; feeling disempowered, disenfranchised and resigned. But why? Are we victims to our egoic fear? Only if we think we are.

All emotions emanate from one of two polarities: fear or love. That’s all there is; all else is on the continuum between these opposites, configurations of thought pattern that makes us feel what we feel.

So many of us in this world remain trapped in our fears, (COVID masks, anyone?). If we live in fear, it's because we don’t love. Out of love comes trust, believing it’s a benevolent universe no matter what happens and ultimately works out for good, even in the “valley of the shadow of death.” We are here to learn to overcome, not suffer by being deceived into inward terror. That’s what the ego wishes for us all… to remain down.

On the Hawkins Scale of Consciousness, fear is far down the negative side of the fulcrum along with shame, guilt, anger, judgement, pride, etc. In fact, all these negative emotions are qualities of fear and how it manifests itself in our lives.

Anyway, let’s not dwell on that; you can do a muscle (kinesiology) test to prove these calibrations since the universal field of consciousness does not lie. It’s the same for everyone. For more information on what this is all about; see my blog post. https://digitalbloggers.com/arts-and-entertainment/how-conscious-are-you

Okay, the good part now… how to get your vibe up to where you can remain at peace in joy and happiness most of the time.

First, we must become aware of everything that influences our lives. Otherwise, how will we know what is causing us to feel as we do? Many things lower our inner vibe, causing us to feel bad. Some may not seem easy to change, such as ‘down-draft’ relationships we might be stuck in. If so, then maybe its time to say good-bye to these emotion life-suckers and find friends that can draw us up, or at least not bring us down with negativity.

Believe me, once our vibe goes up, we will annoy the hell out of them, and they won’t even want to be around us. Our light will hurt their eyes. (Think of Plato’s cave in his THE REPUBLIC classic… the cave dwellers preferred to remain in the dark cave because the outside sunlight hurt their eyes.)

So let’s get down to some specifics. What do we allow in our lives that will raise or lower our conscious vibe?

Let’s start with music. What kind of music do we like? If it has hateful lyrics with discordant dissonances, then maybe we need to avoid it and try listening to something uplifting by cultivating new music tastes with high vibes regardless of the style. Does the music appeal to what's highest and best in you. Does it inspire happy feelings or sadness and anger?

It doesn’t have to be Handel's Messiah, but that’s good too… excellent, actually. For most, I recommend Dimash to raise your vibe, the best singer in the world, bar none who sings in many styles, primarily pop/classic. His rave review from professional singers and critics all agree he's an alien. These include opera singers/instructors, rock musicians, hip-hop, country and western, etc.

Go to my blog post on him to see and hear what I mean. If you have an ear for high vibe music, he will raise your vibe like no one else. I have included links to many of my favourite performances of his.

What kind of movies do you enjoy? If you like horror, ask yourself why. Is it because it resonates with a low vibe frequency fear vibe in you that you find entertaining. But if you want your spirit to ascent to a higher plane, find something that inspires you.

The same goes for books. Don’t read trash. Garbage in… garbage out! You don’t have to read my  ELYSIUM’S PASSAGE novel series to boost your consciousness. But if these appeal to you, they may raise your consciousness higher than the cowboy in the air. Of course, that’s my biased opinion, but you might wish to do a muscle test on the series… you might be astonished what calibration you get.

What kind of food do you eat? How does it make you feel? Listen to your body; it wants to feel good, so you can feel a healthy, natural vibe.

Do you enjoy nature and how often to do you go for walks or bike rides in it? The more you do, the more it might raise your spirits to feel good again. Stand in the grass in your bare feet for five or ten minutes and see what happens.

Do you like to laugh? Find funny movies, books or people to lift your spirits.

Lastly, and perhaps most importantly, how do you respond to others? Are you judgemental, gossipy, spiteful, contentious, jealous, angry, resentful?  Do you feel like you’re a victim and entitled to what others have even when you’re not? If so, you are coming from fear rather than love. Do you pray for your enemies, or do you curse them? If you, by God’s grace, transmute your ego fears to love, you will become free.

To help do this, be grateful. If you want some inspiration for this, read my post on ‘Sowing Happy Seeds of Gratitude,’ it might help. https://digitalbloggers.com/book-reviews/sowing-happy-seeds-of-gratitude

Try to get into the habit of doing this every morning by finding whatever you feel appreciation/gratitude for such as your friends and family, your home, food in the fridge. Or, perhaps something that just happened or will happen that makes you happy; even ordinary things like the sun shining or rain falling. Maybe the cup of coffee you are drinking.

Get creative and do this every day, and you will be off to a happy start in raising your vibe. We attract good things like a magnet with gratitude and appreciation. Keep setting the dial a few notches higher until you get yourself where you want to be.

How you answer these questions will determine where your vibe set point will rest. If you want to get higher and happier, then you will need to work on your attitude. That might take a while, but you can’t do it alone without the support of those who are higher than you. Seek them out and all influences that can raise your consciousness.

The sad part of this is that few are willing to try. So many are content wallowing in misery, just as G.I. Gurdjieff once stated after spending a lifetime of observing humanity.

Be the exception. Be happy. Do not let your ego-fear talk you out of your joy by having you settle for misery. Move your consciousness to where you will feel on top of life and yourself. After all, you are a god, (even Jesus said this), and it really would be a shame to live as anything less than what you are and can be.

To further comment on what Tesla said above, I have included the following quote from Max Planck (1858-1947) and winner of the Nobel Prize in Physics (1918).

As a man who has devoted his whole life to the most clear-headed science, to the study of matter, I can tell you as a result of my research about atoms this much: There is no matter as such. All matter originates and exists only by virtue of a force which brings the particle of an atom to vibration and holds this most minute solar system of the atom together. We must assume behind this force the existence of a conscious and intelligent mind. This mind is the matrix of all matter. I regard consciousness as fundamental. I regard matter as derivative from consciousness. We cannot get behind consciousness.

These statements, I believe, are very important to our lives, since we are part of the universe that is all about frequencies. The question then is, where we choose to set the dial on our oscillations. That will determine the calibre of our consciousness. See the post: https://digitalbloggers.com/arts-and-entertainment/how-conscious-are-you

I have included a short excerpt from ELYSIUM'S PASSAGE: THE ASCENT, the first book of the novel series.

‘Perhaps I’m still one of Descartes’ children,’ I said, ‘but it seems to me that all we can perceive is physical and what is internal is intuited as spiritual. The question is how you wish to define the relationship between spirit and matter. You say we have spirit bodies, yet I can see you both just as physically as I would if you were walking down a street on earth.’

‘No doubt about it,’ Eli said, ‘as spirits that have departed the earth plane, we do appear physical… at least to each other. But not to the man walking down the street.

'In truth, we are about as substantial as anything on the earth plane, maybe even more so![1] And yet nothing is solid about anything, whether on earth or any higher celestial realm. Mountains, lakes, galaxies, books, angels and pretty girls that look like angels - all are just electromagnetic patterns that minds interpret as crystalized forms within their spectrum of consciousness.'

‘All sentient beings are interpreters of vibration,’ Mo said. ‘Matter is what might be considered an energetic derivative from these wave patterns. But particles don’t create waves of energy; we only manifest our soul’s essence as patterns of form. So, in that sense, your spiritual body is as physical as your material body; the difference is existing in a higher vibratory form.

‘Further to that, might I add, you perceive these objects and bodies as being physically substantive because you are on the same vibratory plane. Let me recite what John Wheeler had to say on this: No phenomenon is a physical phenomenon until it is an observed phenomenon… the universe does not exist out there, independent of us. We are inescapably involved in bringing about that which appears to be happening. We are not only observers. We are participators. In some strange sense, this is a participatory universe…’ [2]

‘Well recited, Mo,’ I said. 'You’re a walking encyclopedia, are you not?'

‘As are you, James, when you learn to access the field of universal consciousness. You just need to know which files exist; the rest is easy.

‘The way I look at it,’ Mo said, ‘if a rock makes contact with your head it may break your skull, just like a woman may break your heart, except as you well know, hearts don’t always heal as quickly as skulls. Our encounters with solidity may seem very real, as did yours... in fact, all the way down the abyss.

‘Yet these experiences are, in actuality, encounters with energy events. Which is to say non-substantial, subatomic energy waves of no-things, yet appearing as material forms to us which we experience through non-material mental processes.’

[1] From his visits to the celestial spheres, Emanuel Swedenborg stated: This I can declare: things that are in heaven are more real than things that are in the world. (Apocalypse Explained)

[2] John Wheeler, Physicist (1911-2008), collaborated with Einstein, Bohr and several other luminaries. He is credited with popularizing terms such as ‘black hole,’ wormhole, ‘mass without mass,’ etc.  He believed that reality is created and upheld by observers in the universe, and asked, how does something arise from nothing? while questioning the existence of time and space. I should mention, Mo kept a thick notebook of quotes by physicists that he suggested I familiarize myself with. Some of these I have recorded in Appendix ‘A.’

Tacitus, the famous Roman historian (56 to 120 AD) and respected politician made this astute observation. It’s so obvious!

This makes me wonder why so few seem to realize the consequences of authoritarian government. We realize the rule of laws depends on the authority of the state to enact regulations to uphold order in society. As it should be.

History, however, shows us that the more powerful the elite are allowed to become, the more excessive their laws become. Sadly, this has been most of human history. We see this everywhere, including in our ‘Western’ democracies today, more than ever.

Perhaps people don’t realize how easily they are bought off by the authorities just by pandering self-serving ‘entitlement’ promises. Or if that doesn’t work, frightened them into becoming serfs. If no one is standing up for the populace, it's only a matter of time until laws serve only the interests of those who write the laws and wield its authority. Power, money, and influence! Kind of go together, doesn’t it?

As long as the masses feel ‘safe,’ and provided for, they are often more than willing to give away their power to the state, whether enslaved or not. When the police and armies back the authorities, there is little that can be done until there is another bloody revolution, often no better than before.

That’s why those who have not yet been subjugated to totalitarianism iron grip and fist, must remain extra vigilant, ever watching for the creeping laws that ultimately confiscate rights, liberties, property, and at times conscience.

Ever notice how often our liberty is suppressed for ‘our good?’ Governments and corporations that stand to gain control (and/or considerable wealth) from the masses, often become complicit in spreading fear, such that it’s not always certain who is beholden to whom. Possibly it’s mutual. Just possibly.undefined

More than ever, this slide into tyranny continues with little effort. So little that often police enforcement isn’t even necessary. For example, we can be denied the renewal of our driver’s licence over an unpaid parking ticket. Then, if we get caught driving unlicensed, our vehicle can be impounded and sold off without once seeing a cop. (Okay, that's extreme, but you get the point).

With today’s technology, anything is possible when it comes to controlling the masses. Unfortunately, I see this tendency creeping everywhere, especially in health services and what treatments the authorities will permit in conjunction with their unholy alliance of business interests. In my opinion, this ‘industry’ is the most corrupt and dangerous.

The ELYSIUM'S PASSAGE Novel Series is about a young British philosopher named James Phillips who finds himself in an altered state of reality even while remaining on earth.

After experiencing a near-fatal fall while climbing to the summit of a remote mountain in the Andes, James awakens in a new dimension. He soon encounters two mysterious beings who provide him with a very different perspective on the nature of his existence. Over the next year, before his body recovers from the coma, he is challenged to re-examine his understanding about life’s meaning and purpose far beyond anything he previously believed or could believe.

An engaging and sometime surreal adventure with intimations of impending romance, the narrative explores the most important questions about life, death, reality and our ultimate destiny.

The Plains of Elysium (Champs-Élysées) was described by Homer, Hesiod, Virgil and many other poets as the paradisiac afterlife realm reserved for heroes. As the title suggests, this is about a journey through a passage that leads towards Elysium’s exciting realm of existence.

“In its effort to grapple with fundamental questions about the meaning of life, it raises questions that have echoed throughout the ages, including about where we come from, where we are going, who we are.”  (CLARION REVIEW)
