What motivates you to get up in the morning?

This is a tough question because most mornings I don’t want to get up, I just want to stay in bed where it’s warm and safe. Having a lay-in is probably one of my most favourite things. But then I feel guilty because I think to myself I am wasting the day. Either way, most of us feel like we have to drag ourselves out of bed in the morning, and it takes all the motivation we can muster to get up.

Here are 5 things that could motivate you to get out of bed the morning:

1) Having a job or work that excites you.

Not many of us are doing that which makes us excited to get up and out of our bed in the morning. If being unhappy at work is a problem for you then perhaps some soul searching is required to figure out what you really want and what would make you happy to jump out of bed in the morning.

2) Give yourself something to look forward to.

Even the small things in life can give you something to look forward to, it doesn’t only have to be about holidays or a new pair of expensive shoes. Getting together with old friends, or spending the day with family going somewhere fun or interesting can be just as good as a holiday.

3) Try some meditation as you wake.

This is something that we are still working on, but the benefits are well documented and we can attest to some of them. Our days go by so much more purposefully when we have meditated first thing in the morning, we feel that we control the day and not the other way round!!

4) Watch or read something motivational.

On those morning’s when motivation is an issue then watching or reading something motivational can be a real pick me up. The link below is incredibly motivational when getting out of bed seems like about as much fun as a whole in the head. 

5) Treat yourself.

Why not treat yourself to lay in once a week as a treat, that way you don’t feel like you are depriving yourself and you are treating yourself to something well deserved after a rather productive week!! If you are trying to create new good habits of not laying in all the time then at least having one day a week as a treat to start yourself off on the right track will definitely help.

Once we started our journey of entrepreneurship our outlook changed with regards to early mornings as we couldn’t wait to start the day because we knew each minute was being spent making our lives better and not that of a corporation!!

Of course, it goes without saying that if you are having trouble getting out bed every morning and constantly feel exhausted then you should consult your Doctor for further advice to ensure there is no underlying health concern.
