Personal Developing You
Are you living a life to please others?
Are you being true to yourself?
Are you happy with the person you've become?
From childhood we've been moldered into people that should act a certain way, speak a certain way, not to do this or you should do that, have the career your parents wanted you to have, acted the way your friends did as to feel accepted, and always trying to please everyone else before yourself.
Sound familiar! Well, it's about time that all stopped and you start being true to yourself, be the person you were born to be. The person inside that has their own passions and desires, their own wants and needs that have been yearning inside for a lifetime. To say how you feel, what you believe in and do whatever it is that makes your heart sing without a care of anyone else's judgment. Just to be yourself, your absolute true self.
If you are struggling to find your true self, there are many avenues you can take for guidance that will put you on the right path to self-discovery and even enlightenment, if you're lucky enough to get there. Heres a few that you can try and I hope they will help you!
1. Meditation- Meditation is one of the most important actions we can take for self-improvement, said by many spiritual leaders. Meditation helps us to calm the mind and diffuse all the frivolous chatter. Meditation is not just to clear the mind but to reduce stress, promote relaxation and to train the mind. It is a regulated practice that focuses on training attention and awareness in order to bring processes under greater voluntary control and thereby foster general mental well-being and development, also feelings of calm, clarity and concentration.
2. Spiritual Teachers- A spiritual teacher is a guide that introduces you to unconditional love within. The whole process of spiritual awakening is an uncovering- a pulling away of external ego, issues, pain, and torment. Its a recovery of the you buried beneath all the social, emotional, intellectual and physical contrivances and lies. The path a spiritual teacher points you towards is the one leading you back to you.
Youtube is a great place to start. Every night in bed I put my earphones in and listen to, either a positive speaker or some peaceful sleep meditation or hypnosis. It helps me relax and get a great night sleep. Here are a few of my favorites- Dr. Wayne Dyer, Eckhart Tolle, Abraham Hicks, Les Brown and Deepak Chopra.
3. Be One With Nature- Getting out and amongst nature creates feelings of calm, peace and harmony. Whether it be a morning sunrise walk along the beach, the smell of the fresh salty air, the sound of the ebb and flow of the ocean, the vision of a bright yellow sun rising above the horizon and a sky full of soft, wispy pink clouds floating and transforming as they pass by.
Or maybe you'd prefer a walk in the forest, the smell of fresh pine, the dew glistening on the lush foliage as the sun shines through the tall trees, the sound of birds happily singing and the pathways that lead to the mysteries of the unknown.
Whatever it may be, being out in nature gives us a chance to regroup, to find calm and stillness inside, which helps to find answers to our questions and solutions for our problems. It gives us a feeling of being energized and alive which can help our mood throughout the day. Find your happy place and go there regularly, contemplate life and meditate there, you will find the answers within. Enjoy this human experience of the beautiful spiritual being that you are.
