I want to make a statement on the great importance of our time on this earth.
This morning we received word that my wife’s great aunt had passed away in the night. She had lived a long and full life, and was 94 years old before she passed.
Several years ago my wife’s father fought the battle of his life against cancer and eventually succumbed to it. He was 62 years old before he passed.
My brother was in a severe car accident 10 years ago, which left him with a severe brain injury. Thankfully he has almost completely recovered. One of his best friends who was with him in the vehicle at the time was killed. He was 17 years old before he passed.
One of my cousins developed a severe condition early in her life that made it very difficult for her to breath. After a very brave battle, she succumbed to her illness. She was only 2 years old before she passed.
Perhaps somewhere the time that we have available in this life is known, but except for very rare circumstances, we do not know how much time we have. We don’t know how long we have to work on our passion. We don’t know how much time we have with our family. How much time do we have to be an influence for good on our children? Nobody knows. But one thing is a guarantee in this life. Our time is limited, and it will come to an end. What do we want to fill that limited time with? When all is said and done, it is entirely up to us what we spend our time focusing on. And that is the legacy that we leave behind.
