What if I told you there was a simple equation for success? Would you believe me? Perhaps 50% of you would say Yes and for the other 50%, a hard No. I'm finding that nowadays its all to easy to fall into the quick fix trap when it comes to starting a business, losing the extra weight or many other personal goals. There are many crutches available to us, no matter the problem, big or small.
Most of all I think that these crutches just make us working horses! We rock back and forth thinking we taking action when in actual fact we remain in the same position. We busy with this, we distracted by that, we're moving at least, right? Then the rude awaking a few months down the line that we actually wasted our precious time and we end up procrastinating and giving up on reaching our goals.
According to scientific studies, there is an equation for success. It feels like at this point I should say "Ripleys believe it or not", (smirk on my face) so it is up for debate of course and I would love to hear your thoughts on this but for now, without further a due, here it is:
- It is believed that 25% of the equation is Diligence. Diligence can also be seen as hard work and as a sub-action of hard work - Perfection. When it matters the most, we must double-check our work, our standards, our thoughts. Can you just imagine if a pilot never double checked his work with the co-pilot! That would just be disastrous, to say the least.
- Then we have 25% Organisation. Organising our thoughts and organizing our day. I have found from personal experience that waking up 30 minutes earlier and visualizing what I want my day to look like, has made a big difference in my life and I can notice the difference if I don't. I set my tone for the day, therefore it is very important for us to become organized in our daily tasks and I would add to this that we become more aware of our daily actions.
- Last but not least - 50 % Prudence. The ability to make the right decisions. Its hard to say no to certain things we enjoy, or to respectfully decline a party because we have a personal goal but rewiring your brain is crucial if you want to be successful. Doing the most important tasks first, no matter how mundane or painful. Starting with the hardest tasks will also give you a big sense of accomplishment daily.
So there you have it, the 3 part equation used by billionaires across the globe. I'm not there yet but I'm practising these skills every day.
