If you're like I used to be, you're the type of person who really like to know everything. To have things planned, knowing exactly what the next steps are, and so on. The world we live in, especially when working in corporate tends to make us become that way. The problem, when you switch to becoming an entrepreneur, is that you will NOT have it all figured out.
Switching from an employee mindset to an entrepreneur mindset
I've mentioned it a few times. When you go from being an employee to building your online business, you're going to have to rewire your brain. And one thing you're going to have to change is the way you think. If you wait until you know exactly what you're going to do (or feel like it), you can wait a very long time. I lost a year doing that, so believe me, I know how it feels and it's not so much of a nice feeling.
Learn to trust the process
The one thing that I have learned is to trust the process. I grew up in an environment where it was very materialistic. There was no room for anything spiritual. For an empath, it wasn't the best environment to be in. Although it seems that it's what most empaths experience as it helps us. But the point is that I was in a mindset that had nothing to do with having faith, trusting the process. However, when I started to immerse myself into this, it's like I had a weight off my shoulders. Suddenly it was easier. I learned to surrender. To listen to myself, to inspiration and to go from there.
If you feel stuck, stop planning
Another thing that got me stuck was planning. You hear that a lot when you start. Or at least when you start with not the right help for you. You need to plan your week, your day and so on. Now this may work for some people. To me, it was counterproductive. Today I do not plan anymore. I mean, I usually plan from one day to another but that's all. I'm done wasting half a day like I was told to, to plan a week when I have no clue what's going to happen the next day. Things keep evolving, ideas come in and I'd rather listen to my inspiration than to a plan I made when I was in my head. Listening to myself, to my gut is more important to me now as this is when I am the most creative.
It's going to feel like you don't know what you're doing
Most of the time, at the beginning, it's going to feel like you have no clue what you're doing. Or like there's no real link between things. Keep doing it. Trust this process, learn to trust yourself and your inspiration. Some days, you'll be super productive and others, it'll seem like nothing is coming. And that's fine. The important thing is to not beat yourself up. When you feel stuck, change the focus. Go for a walk, go to this nice coffee place you like to work there, or read a book. You'll see that by doing so, the inspiration will come back when you expect it the least.
Your business will evolve as you evolve
This is important to keep in mind. Maybe you do have this big vision for what you want to achieve. If so, that's great. Stick to it. Keep in mind that the "how" will reveal itself on the way. And that's fine. If, however, you do not have this big vision and are not so clear with what it is you want to achieve, it's also perfectly fine. Just take one step at a time. That really is the only thing you need. Figure out what the next step is. Nothing more. By doing so, it also doesn't get overwhelming as it can easily become so.
Don't try to do this on your own
My whole life I've been trying to figure things out on my own. However when I decided to quit corporate and become self-employed, I did look for help. I ended up having to deal with quite some scams that only confused me more in what I wanted to do with my life and what business I wanted to create. I knew I wanted to be location independent, I also knew I wanted to help others. An e-commerce was also in my mind as I love making my own products. This community I have found not so long ago is perfect for me. It really is what I was looking for. Especially because, not only I get support on the business side but also on the mindset. And as you may know by now, your mindset is a huge part (to me it's the most important one) of your success. Finding the right community and the right help for you is what will truly help you on your way to success into building your life on your own terms.
To summarise, don't wait until you have a clear idea of the "how". Know what you want to achieve as of today, keeping in mind that it will evolve. And just start. Even if you don't really know what it is you're doing. Things will get clearer on the way. But you have to start! And do manage to surround yourself with like-minded people. This is crucial when you go from corporate to entrepreneur.
