Throughout all my years in school, I was never an avid reader. In fact, I disliked reading so much that I would do anything I could to get my hands on summaries, cliff notes, or another students class notes. I would rather have received an average B or C grade on a test than to have to finish reading a book from cover to cover just to answer what I considered then to be the teacher's curiosities about the author's particular choices of words, metaphors and meanings to passages I had no interest in.
It took just one book to change my mind about reading. I was recommended to read this book by a close friend who understood the struggles that I was going through at the time. The instant I picked up this book, I felt a sense of power that I had never felt before. I sensed a world that I had never fully explored, and I was not able to put that book down until I finished reading it. The book was almost 400 pages, and prior to that book I could not recall a time when I read more than 20 pages of a book. I came to realize that what I has disliked so much about reading in school was being forced to read, and then being force-fed what the teacher or professor believed was the author's intended purpose for the book or passage that we were discussing.
Books are essential tools to knowledge, mental freedom, and discovering the life that you always dreamed of. I put together a short list of 10 influential books, each of which have had a significant impact on my life and the lives of thousands if not millions of people across the world. These books aren't on the list just because they're popular. They're on my list because I truly understand the power they hold. Use reading as one of the tools in your tool belt, and be sure to keep a copy of these books, amongst many others, close to you. You will want to read them not once but many times, until the power in them becomes a part of you. These books will revolutionize the way you think, feel and act, thus taking your life and business to higher levels.
