How business has so much red tape

At 59 years old I have had 25 years plus in the small business environment, I have been successful in building from a start up and also buying a going concern and developing the business to succesful profitable levels. These tips are based on my own journey between the age of 40-50.  My aim in choosing this subject will hopefully help any small business to succeed and miss the pit falls of failure.

Business now has so much red tape

  • I found the later few years of my last business so frustrating, It felt as though the whole european and uk systems were working against my business.
  • I had officials visit the company with the agenda given to help. But the reality was they arrived with an agressive attitude looking to trip up rather than looking in ways to help.
  • The reality was these guys were paid to do a job and didn't understand anything about running a business, so how could they understand the challenges of running a business.

It's a bit like our school system, pupils are primarily taught how to obtain qualifications to get a good "job" and enterprise doesn't enter the teachers curriculum because they would not understand how to teach what they have never experienced.

Some red tape, the cause of stress to the owner

  • Drivers had to have a digital tacho card and cpc certificate
  • Health and Safety
  • Employment law
  • Pension regulations
  • New EU regulations

Therefore if you are looking at starting a business, looking to purchase one or taking on a corporate role then please be aware that red tape will take your time and money. These cost's and time MUST be factored into your plan. I managed to work with in these regulations , which by the way you MUST !!, by asking a trusted friend who was experienced in business to help on a monthly basis for a nominal fixed fee. This freed up my time and kept my cost's down to a minium.

I will be posting further blogs to follow on with this information to look at where we go from the questions posed today. Blogging is my new passion, I have fun coupled with happiness and fulfilment.

I want to thank you for reading my blog, would you please share like and comment.
