"Listen to your heart and you'll hear your tribe calling...your people offering inspiration, validation, and inviting you to a place where you know you've always belonged."
One trait that is prevalent amongst the vast number of entrepreneurs, is the tendency to trust your guts and instincts even if it violates logic, disrupting the status quo. On my very first blog article Master Of Your Own Destiny I dwelt much on my chosen path -- entrepreneurship, nevertheless at variance with the status quo, core values and counsel of my loved ones.
As a young aspiring entrepreneur there isn't that much room in our families for personal choice and freedom to stand by your conviction, and independent mind, more especially in our black culture. The more you stubbornly persist in the pursuit of what sets your soul on fire, the more fierce the opposition becomes and your ideas stifled with. As a result the journey gets so lonely and arduous at numerous stages, because of great lack of support network, and good emotional hygiene.
It is heartrending, to say the least, that from the very close bonds you would expect unreserved support, on a contrary you be overly criticized and misunderstood of what you're aiming for and why, dreams and passions constantly thwarted. You get these funny looks, discouraging comments or just blank stares as you share your dreams, hopes and the choices you're making to get there. It is innocent at times, and sickly manipulative in other cases the lengths loved ones go to so as they don't lose their ideas of security and tradition.
This is enough to make you question your own sanity and at times even give up on what you're trying to achieve. Hence it is of paramount importance to seek those who find your road agreeable, your personality and mind stimulating, your philosophy acceptable, and your experiences helpful.
"When you're surrounded by your tribe they get what you're trying to do. They support the choices you've made and add to your thinking rather than stop it dead in its tracks." - Karen Sargent
It was early this year when had that first encounter with my long sought tribe -- SFM. It was after long years of solitude, rejections and feeling lost, even in the great crowds of people I know and close to. A very lonely journey due to the fact that have been going against the grain. Walking to beat my very own drummer, which will pay off one day.
I have come to fully realise there are but three essential components to true enduring success:
- An undying, relentless passion
- Clarity of your mission
- Immersion in like-minded people that get it
The only component that was missing in my entrepreneurial journey was the third one. Thanks to the internet and technological improvements; it is now easier than ever before to truly immerse yourself with other like-minded people who resonate with your message and ideals.
"Allign yourself with people that you can learn from, people who want more out of life, people who are stretching and searching and seeking some higher ground in life." -- Les Brown
How I found my tribe? -- was browsing through some Youtube motivational videos, and an ad just popped up. I hardly check on those Youtube ads, normaly skip them without any hesitation. But strange enough never skipped that one, was somehow impelled to be all eyes and ears. It was this young guy by the name of Luke from Australia, sharing his testimonials about the SFM COMMUNITY . Listening to him my heart said; "uh-huh there you are -- my long sought tribe". I instantly burst into unspeakable joy, and as the saying goes, the rest is history. My long hoped for desire turned into reality, and my prayer into praise.
It is imperative to have a positive mindset so you can program your financial thermostat for the success that will follow, and for that you need allies -- people in your life or business that are fundamentally interested in seeing you succeed. They are your support system, your safety net, your biggest source of inspiration. They are the trail blazers, the ones that lead the charge into battle. Inspiring you to take action and showing you that more is possible.
Two Simple Metrics For Success At SFM
- Live our lives to our highest potential daily.
- Help as many people as we can, live their lives to their highest potential.
Ever since have joined SFM COMMUNITY the perceptions of what I believe to be possible for myself have tremendously expanded. Deservability issues all eliminated, and getting more fixated on my goals in a do or die manner, despite the imaginable difficulties and rigors faced along the way.
Can call it a Clan, call it a Network, call it a Tribe, a Support Group, a Family. Whatever you call it, whoever you are, you need one. It is absolutely essential for your success. A deep sense of love, and belonging is an irreducible need of all people. And when that need is not met, we don't function as we were meant to. I wouldn't be where I am, a person I am today alive with ample of opportunities and possibilities, if it wasn't for the heaven sent Masterminds found in my long sought Tribe -- SFM COMMUNITY.
With Blessings, Hope and Love
