I know this guy, really nice guy. Hard working, supports his family financially, is a good sport, and funny to be around. He is about 15 years older than me I would guess and that puts him into his late forties beginning fifties.
But, he has a problem. He smokes too much, drinks too much coke, overeats junk food, and he works so much, that he is not able to be at home to spend time with his only daughter. So, to make up for that fact he buys her lots of presents or gives her money. Also, his wife is unhappy with him being away so much.
He told me about all of this himself, and his response to all of it was: ”it´s just like that you know, that´s how it is.”
He has cut down a lot on his fizzy drinks lately, and I don´t want to take that away from him at all, but quitting entirely with the cigarettes and coke, although his daughter pushes him to do so is impossible to him.
”That´s impossible, I can´t do that.”
Let that sink in for a moment.
Those words carry immense power over him and impose themselves onto his, his woman's and most of all his daughters' life.
Now, I don´t know all the variables in his life, and by no means am I trying to judge him. In fact, these words are not about him. I only aim to show the power of such words.
Because we all have had those thoughts about ourselves, limiting thoughts. I am the last to be the exception from that. They come in variations like, ”I am not good enough,” ”I can´t,” I am too fat, too thin,” too old, too young, too lazy and the list goes on.
What do we think the outcome will be when we utter those words to ourselves in silence or in conversation with others??
Naturally, we don´t expect greatness or success from ourselves, and we crawl back into our comfort zone where we find boredom, safety, stagnation, slow death. In fact, I would argue that we probably die faster inside of the comfort zone, because when we are not evolving, trying new things, expecting something more from ourselves on an everyday basis we are not living, merely keeping the machinery going for another day.
Back to those words.
I-AM powerful, I-AM excellent, I-AM rich, I-AM-healthy.
These statements alone are powerless, but when uttered and believed they create a sensation in the body which is empowering, which then makes us take action because we NOW believe!
Now, what does a person that utters these words and feels those sensations on a daily basis expect from themselves?
Exactly, you guessed it.
The expectation of taking massive action in their lives, demanding more from themselves, creating their lives instead of just letting it happen to them as a victim. Living at the peak of their potential.
And all because they believe in themselves, they know they can change whatever is going on around them. They have taken the decision to be in the driver's seat.
And by making that firm decision, things start happening. The right actions are taken, the right people and situations start showing up in life.
The moral of the story is this. If we are in alignment with our cause and we truly want it, believe in it, we can do ANYTHING we put our minds to.
We hear incredible stories from around the world every day that should have been impossible, but they happened anyway. So, why do we limit ourselves to a life that doesn´t actually serve us and those around us, but keeps us living way below our true calling and potential?
What happened to us that made us so weak and self-defeating?
Later on, I asked him why he doesn´t put some of his time into starting his own online business so he can have a lot more time later once it is established.
He asked: "is it hard?"
I said:"It´s easy but requires dedication and ambition."
He replied quietly:
YES, YOU CAN.
