Brass on parade at Bishop Perowne
Bishop Perowne CE College is welcoming the world famous Guards Brass made up from the Bands of the Household Division for a day of music on Friday 20th January.
The culmination of the day will be an evening concert giving the local community the chance to see these fantastic musicians play in the intimate setting of the school’s theatre.
Additionally, the brass players from the Guards will be doing a special performance for primary schools in the morning before brass students from across Worcester will have the chance to take part in a workshop with the professional musicians during the afternoon.
Mark Pollard, Headteacher at Bishop Perowne CE College, commented:
“We’re delighted that members of the Queen’s bands will be joining us for the day; this is the first time they will have done anything like this in Worcester. Giving our students the chance to see and learn from these professional musicians will help them develop their talent and all students taking part in the workshop, whether from Bishop Perowne or another local school, will have the opportunity to play during the evening concert.”
Brass students who would like to be part of the workshop with members of the Guards can contact Bishop Perowne’s Director of Music, Ashley Buxton, on 01905 746800 or by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
The evening concert is taking place on Friday 20th January at 7.30pm in the school’s theatre. All members of the local community are welcome and admission will be by donation. Prior booking is not required.
