Daredevils Overpower Sunrisers
The Delhi Daredevils got a solid batting performance to overhaul the 185 set by the Sunrisers earning a six-wicket win in the 40th match of the 2017 Indian Premier League season at the Feroz Shah Kotla in Delhi.
Delhi skipper Karun Nair in the role because of injury to regular captain Zaheer Khan won the toss and asked the surging Sunrisers to bat. Skipper David Warner the leading run scorer in the competition and his prolific partner Shikhar Dhawan started off once again blasting 53 in 5.1 overs. Then Warner on 30 from 21 balls with four boundaries and a six after pulling a slower ball bouncer from Mohammed Shami powerfully for four was beaten and bowled by a perfect yorker that was 20kph faster. Dhawan lasted three more overs also hitting four fours and a six in a 17 ball 28 before top edging an Amit Mishra googly and was caught by Shreyas Iyer. Kane Williamson scored a run a ball taking the total to 92/3 in twelve overs.

Delhi enjoyed a decent start of 40 in 4.1overs from Sanju Samson and his skipper before Mohammed Siraj deceived Samson with a slower ball which he hit straight to Dhawan to be dismissed for 24. Nair stroked five boundaries and two sixes in a 20 ball 39. The two youngster Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer contributed 34 and 33 respectively. Pant was bowled by Siraj and Iyer accounted for by purple cap holder Bhuvneshwar Kumar.
Corey Andersen and Chris Morris raised an unbeaten 41 run stand to move the Daredevils from the bottom of the points table with five balls to spare. Andersen smashed three sixes and two fours in a 24 ball 41 and Morris blasted a four and a six scoring 15 from seven balls.
