Pakistan takes day one honors at Dubai
Pakistan hardly set a foot wrong during the first day of their 400th test match against the West Indies yesterday at Dubai.
Azhar Ali stroked 14 boundaries crafting an unbeaten 146, his eleventh test hundred to lead his team to a solid 279/1 at close of play. After winning the toss and batting in the day / night pink ball using match. The South Asian team enjoyed an opening partnership of 215 before Sami Aslam misjudged a sweep shot played over the ball and was bowled for 90 which included nine fours.
The tourist who were white washed in the two shorter forms of the game played earlier, continued their hapless performance. The bowlers who seemed to either have no plan or no ability to stick to one, were inconsistent, wayward and as such incapable of troubling the Pakistani batsmen.
Azhar was in control from the outset his solid defense complimented by well timed drives and cuts all around the wicket, Aslam played slightly more cautiously but was never really in trouble, when he lost his wicket it was totally against the run of play.
Pakistan will be looking to increase the scoring rate and declare sometime around the second break with a first innings total around 500+.
