Today, we are about to tackle the first part of this 10 truths series: Give first, sell second.
Let me ask you something.
Think about the place you go shopping for groceries. How is it organize?
The cashiers are usually at the front and the groceries and goods in the back, right?
That being said, have you ever been asked to pay before you have seen/chosen/picked up your goods?
And there is a reason for that. As a customer, you need to see the value of the goods to make a decision. Then, the shop can easily sell it to you.
The same goes for your digital business.
In this days and age, people are overwhelmed by products and services ads.
In most markets, the demand is lower than the offer.
Your audience has a short attention span. Plus, they need to know you and realize that you have a solution for their problems... Not the neighbors', not the cousins', THEIRS'!
So giving something valuable for free, helps you build a trust and confidence relationship.
Now, it may sound to some like a frustration path, but there is no sustainable way around it.
Building a digital business will require for you to care about your prospects and customers needs. Listen to them and provide solutions to the problems they are desperate to fix.
If you can't, then you can't. In this case, I strongly suggest you find something else than building a digital business...
So prepare to give massive value FIRST, before you even think about selling anything. That could be through videos, PDF, articles, samples...
Keep in mind, most people buy from people they trust!
