I'm starting to build a website, and this is extremely challenging for a technophobe like me let me tell you! So I want to share with you my 'About Me' page as it says a little bit about me (obviously!)
Hello, I'm Maddy.
I'm a sister, friend, daughter, aunt.
I'm a free spirit, camper, fire maker, tree climber, wild swimmer, hiker, cyclist, dancer, adventure seeker.
A creator and maker.
Learner, listener, skill developer.
Gardener, designer, volunteer worker.
I'm a bit shy, a bit sweary, a bit funny. Strong, kind and loyal.
I'm on an incredible journey, and I would love to share it with you.
I have spent much of my life hopping from job to job lacking drive and focus, feeling undervalued and frustrated because I knew I needed more. I have so many passions yet I never seemed to have enough time for them. Then a couple of years ago I started to feel the need for more connection and fulfillment along with an urge to figure out my sense of purpose.
I've now found a community and an education system that is guiding me to all of these needs and passions. For the first time in a long time, I feel re-energised and excited about life. I am clearer about my direction and connected to a hugely supportive community of like-minded people. I'm finding my place, this is home.
At 47 I'm digging deep and pulling out my pushed away passions and dreams. I am building my new life so that I can do more of the things I love. More exploring of this magical land and it's nooks and crannies, more swimming in its rivers and lakes, leaving more footprints in its worn paths, more voluntary work and serving others and more connecting with souls who crave the same fuel. I'm not only building a new life, I am building a new me.
I'm on the journey of a lifetime, learning some incredible things. Loading myself up with skills that I will be able to take with me on my adventures. I'm also starting to think about how I want my life to be when I am older. I plan on being fit and healthy physically, mentally, spiritually and financially. Yes financially! I plan on having a very comfortable life right up until the end! And have a lot of fun doing it. I hear of too many studies that show that a huge amount of people who are nearing the end of their lives feel regretful about not fulfilling their dreams. I am determined to live a fulfilled life.
I've always loved voluntary work, it is a breath of fresh air to me - through serving others I feel valued and connected. My current stint is for the Cinnamon Trust, a charity that supports the elderly and terminally ill and their pets. I walk two spaniels - Harry and Flo - for Benita, an intelligent and kind lady who has arthritis and can no longer take them out. We have all developed a friendship and I love our weekly walks.
I plan to do more voluntary work and explore this beautiful island, I will travel to remote places and stop for a while perhaps to do some conservation work, while also running my digital business. I also plan on exploring Scandinavia, Austria and other mountainous parts of mainland Europe.
So, in my quest for a different life, I have embarked on an incredible journey. I am learning more about myself than I ever thought I would, learning skills that I thought I was allergic to (I am a self-confessed technophobe!) and making amazing friendships. My new journey is challenging, exciting, creative and messy.
My life is richer for the path I am following and I follow it one digital step at a time.
The water's lovely, take my hand and jump in!
Well, I hope that explained a little bit about me. Let me know what you think of this intro to my website.
And in you missed it you can find my latest blog here.
Until next time, go well!
