No matter who we are, where we are in life, or where we came from, we all have the ability to set big goals and achieve our dreams and ambitions. But when we don't achieve them, then frustrations and disappointments creeps in, and we end up setting aside or worst abandoning our goals and dreams altogether.
This is when we need to change our mindset and get back to focusing on how when can achieve our goals in life.
To do this, here are some of the ways we can change our mindset:
Know your "why", your reason. Ask yourself, "What is my goal, my purpose,my vision?".Have a VisionBoard where you can actually see and visualize what you want to achieve.Be creative and specific.
2.Take Small Steps In Achieving Your Goals
I heard someone ask,"how do you eat an elephant?", and the answer was, "one bite at a time".This statement teaches us to breakdown our goals into small manageable steps to avoid being overwhelmed and to help us see our actual progress towards the bigger picture. In addition, we must set SMART( Specific,Measurable,Achievable,Realistic,Time-Bounded) goals.
3. Focus On The Solution Rather Than The Problem
As we go along our way towards achieving our goals, we make mistakes and encounter failures. We must embrace our failures and treat them as lessons that we can learn from so we could grow and move forward.
4.Have An Attitude of Gratitude
We must focus our attention and be thankful for the people/things we have right now. Have a gratitude journal and write down the people/things we are grateful for,in this way we will see that there is so much that we already have.We must also focus on our strengths and positive points rather than the weaknesses and the negative aspect.
Take 5-20 minutes of quiet "Me Time". This helps to refocus, re-energize, and contemplate on where we are right now, how far we have come, and where we want to be.
