A widower and former pro baseball player Tony Micelli who takes a job as a housekeeper for a high-powered divorced businesswoman, Angela Bower, and her son. He and his daughter, Samantha then moves into the Bower residence, where Tony’s laid-back personality contrasts with Angela’s type-A behaviour. And for extra laughs Angela’s man-hungry mother, Mona, is also in the mix. Theme song: Brand new life)
I just loved the lyrics to their theme song:
There's a time for love and a time for living. You take a chance and face the wind. An open road and a road that's hidden. A brand new life around the bend. There were times when I lost a dream or two. Found the trail, and at the end was you. There's a path you take and a path untaken. The choice is up to you my friend. Nights are long but you might awaken, to a brand new life, brand new life, brand new life around the bend.
I’ve had to chop and change my life direction a few times.
I grew up in a coastal town that did not offer much in career choices. I started out waitressing, doing part time jobs between au pairing and doing pottery painting. I eventually got the opportunity to run a small pottery business together with a friend at the age of 21. It was tough working for ourselves, canvassing looking for business but at the same time fun, as now I was my own boss.
The business however eventually folded 2 years later but not due to the lack of working hard but rather due to having the odds stacked against us. Consignment stock, where we lost a very large percentage of our revenue on sales, then breakage from wrapping and unwrapping packing from pottery doing flea markets on weekends and events.
The deal breaker came when we received a bad batch of pottery clay, with every firing we had, the pottery items would either crack or the glaze would just blister off. We did not have the additional capital to carry us for an additional 6 to 12 weeks while we ordered a new batch of clay and re-do our paintwork for all the orders we had. We unfortunately had to return everyones deposit and walk away with our tail between our legs.
It took some time to overcome the defeat and fear of going into any other business ventures. I failed at a few more, but each taught me valuable principals:
- Define the Outcome You Desire
- Create an Action
- Take Consistent Action
- Resetting Your Financial Thermostat as your perspective will begin to change
- Determination and endearment goes a long way
Why am I telling you all of this?
