Have you ever had a dream come true? I have what a wonderful feeling.
A dream come true
I recently got back from Thailand and one of the highlights of a totally thrilling trip was getting to ride an elephant bareback through the jungle and into the river Kwai. It's hard to put into words what this meant to me but the feelings of exhilaration, wonder, amazement content and utter joy all came gushing out. I was smack bang in the middle of one of those experiences you dream about over and over as a child and it was almost surreal that I was actually there doing it. I've always had a great admiration for elephants and this was one of those very rare golden moments in my life.
What more do you need?
I remember thinking, while I was sat astride this huge head, "how lucky the people of Thailand are to be surrounded by all this beauty and breath taking nature on a daily basis". Up until that moment id been a little surprised at how, considering many Thai people live in extreme poverty, they generally seem very happy people but given the choice of living a simple life on one of the worlds most beautiful islands where the main concern is making sure my fishing boat stays afloat sounds a lot more appealing than having more money than I know what to do with with a clutter of possessions I don't need in a society fuelled by stress and anxiety.
Breaking the mold
I started to challenge the concept of only being able to visit such places on very rare occasions because I think a lot of us are programmed to think that we need to stay chained to the 9 to 5 because that's what pays the bills and a holiday is almost a guilty pleasure that we are allowed once in a blue moon if we've been good. This is not true. I've now started my own online business I've found some excellent tutoring because I didn't have a clue where to start and now I'm on my way to seeing a lot more of Thailand and loads more amazing destinations this planet has to offer because I can take my business with me wherever I go.
