So You Want to Change Your Life… But Are You Willing to Do Something Different?
You’re working your nine to five job that you really don’t like that much, spending 1-2 hours commuting daily, missing your kids then getting home late only having to cook, do a load of washing and clean the house. You might get an hour on the couch late at night then crash into bed, and repeat all over again the next day. Sound familiar?
At some point in our lives we all want to change something. But most of us aren’t willing to do anything out of our comfort zone to make those changes actually happen. We whinge and whine about stuff we don’t like in our lives but it stops there. Guess what? If you don’t make a change, then nothing in your life will change. Surprise!
“If you always do what you’ve done, you’ll always get what you’ve always got” - Ed Foreman.
You need to figure out what it is that you don’t like about your life right now. Is it your job? Is it battling 2 hours of traffic every day? Is it not being able to afford to go on holiday or buy a nice car or send your kids to a private school? Is it not having enough time do to what you actually love doing? It’s different for everyone.
I want you to do this task, this is how I started to make changes in my life.
I want you to find 10-20 minutes and sit down with a piece of paper and write 2 lists.
1. On one side of the page write down all the things in your life that you’re not happy with and want to change.
2. On the other side of the page write down all the things that you want to do in your life that you don’t have the time/money/freedom for right now.
Now look at your first list, is this how you want to spend the rest of your life? Or is your second list how you want to live?
What can you do Right Now to start the ball rolling in making the changes you need?
The only way that you can achieve the things you really want in life is to change something. It’s not just going to happen one day out of the blue, you have to get up off your butt and decide to make that change. Yes, it may be a little (or perhaps very) uncomfortable at first but how great is it going to be knowing that you’re on your way to being in control of your own life and doing what you want, when you want?
Whatever you decide to do, time is always going to pass you by, time won’t wait, so why should you? You deserve to live the life YOU want.
