Baby Boomer Dream Cars – Myth Or Reality ?
As someone who loves cars and is also a baby boomer I was very interested to read some of the blogs that talk about baby boomer dream cars.
I grew up in the late 70s and had what I would describe as a couple of decent cars, a Ford Escort RS 2000 followed by a 3 litre Granada Ghia, whilst friends had 3-litre Capris, Sierra Cosworths, Cortina 1600Es and more, all of which would be worth a small fortune if we still owned them in good condition today.
Although they were reasonable cars, they weren't baby boomer dream cars and this description would be reserved for the following types of car; Bentley, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Lotus, Maserati, Mercedes, Monteverdi, Porsche, Rolls Royce and other luxury brands.
Myth Or Reality
So the next question is are baby boomer dream cars a myth or reality in the modern age ?
This is dependent on your financial means and how well you have managed to prepare for the baby boomer phase of your life and if you are interested in baby boomer dream cars, maybe they are just not your thing, but they are mine.
In a recent study by TrueCar.com that examined the car buying habits of over 200,000 car buyers they found that the top brands bought by baby boomers are high end luxurious vehicles.
Mercedes Top Of The List !
Mercedes Benz is top of the list with 56% of its buyers baby boomers, closely followed by Jaguar and Porsche, with other preferred brands BMW, Lexus and Volvo close behind.
The study becomes more interesting when broken down by model with the Porsche Boxster having 84% of its buyers from the Baby Boomer generation, followed by the BMW 6 series convertible and Mercedes SL class.
Audi Are In There Too !
Other sporty high-end vehicles sought by baby boomers include the Audi A5 and S5 convertible, Volvo C70 and Chevrolet Corvette, all with 60% of sales from the baby boomer generation.
This shift in buying has occurred because their children have now flown the next and they are in a good position to enjoy financial and time freedom, although this is not true for all baby boomers.
I personally have not reached that point of financial freedom as yet, but I am working towards it and will let you know when I get there.
I would like to drive all of those dream cars that are available out there and many of them are on my bucket list to possess and drive at some time.
Initially I would like to start with the Audi TT RS and the R8 V10, followed by Ferrari, Porsche, Lamborghini and Bugatti to name but a few because I just love cars, always have, always will, do not want any robots driving my car thanks.
Tell Me About Your Baby Boomer Dream Car !
Anyway, I would love to know what your dream car would be and would love to see its name and anything more you would like to add in the chat box below.
In answer to the original question: Baby Boomers Dream Cars – Myth Or Reality, I would say reality for some, but nowhere near enough, when you have worked all your life, you should be driving around in your dream car and enjoying your freedom lifestyle because you deserve to.
