WE NEED TO TALK

What is it?

Whatever it might be, it seems something or someone is on my trail. If we allow our imagination, we may see it as an orb from interdimensional space looking for some crazy person to take a picture of it. And yet I don't recall anything whizzing by that day while climbing in the mountains. But let's keep an open mind -- that doesn't mean something wasn't there. Obviously I don't I see what my digital camera sees or what dogs hear.

As a writer, I have an active (hyper-active?) imagination and would like to think my translucent friend is something more than what 'science' can explain away. But I also like to think I'm a realist. Actually, it's possiblity to have an appreciation of the world of science and what mystery lies beyond it. In fact, Einstein once said that "imagination is more important than knowledge." He also said "the most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious." Maybe that's what made him such a genius; he could do both worlds at once.

So can someone help me out with this? Even my skeptical debunker friends -- you know, the engineer types, aren't so sure what natural elements could have caused this.

Though I may lose myself in fantasy for a while, in the end, my rational mind prevails -- most of the time. And so, after I took this, I didn't pay too much attention to it, assuming this little round thingy was a speck of moisture floating by or somehow got on my lens. Problem was, it wasn't raining or snowing. Maybe I sneezed, but I don't think so. The picture was taken with a digital camera where the shutter only opens when it's turned on.

Interestingly, I have no idea why I took a picture of this very ordinary mountain while I was climbing -- nothing much to see as far as mountains go. (Check out my mountain photo posts for something worth looking at). But for whatever reason, I did take it, although I didn't think much about it at the time. You know how it goes with orbs, you see one you've seen them all.

Who knows, perhaps my visitor implanted a message and said, "take a picture of me so I can mess with your mind later. But please, no corny jokes about being able to see through me. I can see through you too."

So what was it? Maybe there was something floating by in the air at that moment, and so that's all there was to it. Then again, maybe not. But if not, then what? Any photographers out there that can tell me what you think?

I'm not saying there isn't a natural explanation for this, probably there is, its just that I don't know what it is. The only other logical explanation I have is it was a lens flare resulting from the late afternoon sun being in the picture. Yes, mostly probably that's it.... but then....

And thought we all get orbs in our pictures from sun flares, I never had anything quite like this before. If you have, then I'd like to know about it to help solve this little mytery of mine. I don't know, maybe this kind of thing happens all the time. So tell me what you think in the comment section.

Funny thing, but about six or seven years ago, I used to amuse myself by intending orbs to show up when I took pictures. And strangly, it seemed they did -- not always, but often they did.

All kinds of things such as bright flashes of light would show up even when there was no flash going off. I just dismssed them as funny things digital cameras did. Most often I got intricate orbs like the ones in the next post called enlightened. Perhaps these are just dust particles in front of the lens. Here's one I enlarged and did some colour highlighting. This, I think, is what a camera flash does but that doesn't explain the first photo which is translucent.

The one I took below of the evening sky is your regular flash flare. Rather pretty, but not unsual.

I don't know what to think about the one below. Am I the only one, but it seems to throb when I look at it. Optical illusion I'm sure but I can image all kinds of mystical things in the centre light. Took it randomly in the night sky. Sure wasn't expecting this.

Perhaps seeing these strange ocular phenomena show up all the time is what inspired me to write about orbs in the first chapter of Elysium's Passage (which, believe me, is just as strange).

In any case let me know what you think in the Comments section below. I'd like to hear from you, especially about the first one. Also, if you wish to see more orbs that my camera took or created, as the case may be, take a look at my next blog posted as ENLIGHTENED.

THE SUMMIT is the first in a series of five Elysium’s Passage narrations regarding a young British philosopher named James Phillips who finds himself living in an altered state of reality while still remaining on earth.

After experiencing a near fatal fall while climbing to the summit of a remote mountain in the Andes, James awakens in a new dimension. He soon encounters two mysterious beings who provide him with a very different perspective on the nature of his existence. Over the next year, before his body recovers from the coma, he is challenged to re-examine his understanding about life’s meaning and purpose far beyond anything he previously believed, or could believe.

An engaging and sometime surreal adventure with intimations of impending romance, the narrative explores the most important questions about life, death, reality and our ultimate destiny.

The Plains of Elysium (Champs-Élysées) was described by Homer, Hesiod, Virgil and many other poets as the paradisiac afterlife realm reserved for heroes. As the title suggests, this is about a journey through a passage that leads towards Elysium’s exciting realm of existence.
