These two quotes by notable writers from the 19th Century made very important points about what is behind the causes that affect humankind’s destiny. What they both say is that not only can words bring peace, but they can bring wars and devastation to the nations.

The thoughts that behind the words written or spoken can have an affect on whole civilizations for hundred and even thousands of years. All we need do is look back and see what thoughts changed everything for culture and world history.

In many cases, it seems that the truthful quality of the thoughts expressed doesn’t always have that much to do with their appeal. If these ideas resonate with the masses, they can effect new social changes that would never have come about unless they were cogently expressed. We see this with the words of Buddha, Jesus, Mohammad, and more recently with Adolph Hitler and Karl Marx who’s Fascist and Communist ideologies destroyed tens of millions of lives last century.

We might say, that thoughts have frequencies that range from high calibrations of consciousness that are associated with love and unity to very low calibrations that are based on the ego’s delusions often rooted in envy, entitlement, hate, cruelty, pride, power over overs, and everything else that brings separation. It's only a matter of time before we see the fruits of these ideas. Life, love, unity are of the heart, whereas destruction, hate and separation are of the ego-mind.

To illustrate this in dialogue, I have included a few short paragraphs from Elysium’s Passage.

‘Then let me put it this way,’ Mo continued, ‘feelings that emerge from thoughts of guilt, shame and fear in the world have very low calibrations of consciousness. If one doesn’t remain vigilant on the earth plane, the separated ego-mind will try to foist on humans whatever pernicious thoughts it is able to poison the soul. That’s how it survives, and so the only thing that can hurt us is the false imaginings that keep us trapped in the illusions of our nightmares.

‘That’s why the mind always needs the heart’s divine firewall. Pain can have no meaning, import or relevance in the higher realms of consciousness as the soul moves towards the pure awareness of its divine Source which knows only love. Any experience that replaces fear with love moves one in the direction of the divine Source.

‘In other words, any thought, sensation or experience that takes you towards healing and wholeness, is infused by love and light with expanding depths of divine awareness.’

It's almost Halloween. Be scared, be really scared... but don't be afraid.

What I mean is, have some fun with fear, but don’t take on any more fears than you have too. Seriously... don't make your daily life into a horror story. There are lots of ways to do that, even without trying. In other words, don’t bring down your spiritual vibe by going to horror movies. Don’t read horror. Just say no! Why? Because ingesting fear is not good for you. Why? Because fear is toxic. There are more exciting things you can do in life than bringing yourself down.

Fear is the opposite of who and what you are. And who are you? I guess you might say you are whoever you think you are. But whatever that is, is not necessarily what you are destined to become. In fact, what you really are is a whole lot more than the quivering ego persona that keeps getting spooked by all its perceived fears.

The truth is, we are, in our essence, love, created as a thought in the Mind of God, existing physically as an extension of Source Energy. It knows nothing of fear, hate or ego. There's nothing about our reality that is intrinsically negative. Only extrinsically, because that's how we make it. Of course, that statement might seem absurd since our minds prefers to dwell in the fantasy nightmare of spiritual separation.

In all reality, there is a polarity between what is and what isn’t. That is; a polarity of love/ light, and its opposite, fear/darkness which is merely the absence of love and light. So, when you turn off the light, all you have is nothing. Only love/light exists because only these qualities are of divine essence.
However, if we wish to live in the delusion of this absence, we are free to do so, since we exist in a free will universe, which in itself, is the very substrate for love's existence. In other words, we may live out the fearful illusions of our ego. Much of our fear-based world is a manifestation of our fear delusions and will continue to remain that way until we wake up our collective consciousness.

In as much as we indulge in fear, we are drawn down into a black hole of hellish darkness and despair. I mean, what’s so great about that? We can’t look deeply into Nietzsche’s abyss without it gazing back at us. And as it gazes into us, we fall into it, entranced by a dark paralysis of fear.

So rather than entering into Steven King's house of horrors, or worse yet, the media’s perverse obsession with fear-based news (and lies), do something completely different... something that makes you feel good about life. In the long run, fear just weakens the spirit and makes us feel vulnerable. It might feed the ego, but doesn't feed the soul. It might give some temporarily excite to the mediocre life, but will never exhilarate it into its fullness of being. In fact, quite the opposite vibration.

The ego is sustained by fear. It's not real and so is not what we are, even when we allow its aberrance to have its way with us. So, don’t let anyone exploit your seductions of fear. It will only cause you to become less than you are. Love is strong, love is sane. Fear is weak, fear is insane.

Okay then, how about Halloween? Of course, this day s meant to be fun, especially for children. Generally, they don’t take these imaginary fears seriously. Nor should we, lest we live our daily life in the abyss of fear. (Too much television will do that).

Am I overreacting to fear-based entertainment? Perhaps, but only to make a point: We exist in a benevolent universe and yet, in our species' immaturity, we turn our world into the fears it need not have when love and light is present. We can only be fearful when we remain in vibratory alignment with fear. But that can only happen when we allow ourselves to descend into the abyss by consociating with what we aren’t... the absence of our love-essence. Why should we deceive ourselves by allowing our ego’s fears make us less than we are?

So, go ahead and enjoy Halloween this month if that’s what you like, just don’t take it seriously. Laugh at fear because there’s nothing to fear unless you fear fear.

Boo!

To everything - turn, turn, turn
There is a season - turn, turn, turn
And a time to every purpose under heaven

In 1965 the Byrds popularized several verses from the third chapter of Ecclesiastics in their hit Turn, Turn, Turn, which had originally been written by Pete Seeger in the late 50s. For whatever reasons, the following line from the passage wasn't included: "a time to keep silence, and a time to speak"

And yet, according to Kierkegaard, that might have been the most important one. "Only the person who is essentially capable of remaining silent is capable of speaking essentially."

I have included a couple of excerpts from ELYSIUM'S PASSAGE: SURREAL ADVENTURES to give some commentary on the topic of silence.

'Many practices have been developed by highly evolved mystic schools and esoteric traditions that require a great deal of silence to hear what the inward voice has to say.‘You don’t have to be in an ashram since mystical encounters can occur almost anywhere: under a tree, not necessarily of the
Bodhi phyla, in the church choir, singing the Halleluiah chorus or swimming with the dolphins. As long as love and peace are present, and fear and judgement are not, anyone may receive the light.

‘More often than not, enlightenment occurs in silence when no one is present except the Presence. Then it’s gone again, at least until the next time. Yet the peace lingers.

'As long as your vision remains limited to that of the earth plane, you can’t help but distort higher realms of experience. But when you see it through the lens of Elysées,1] you will experience what can only be understood in silence.

'As Kierkegaard once stated this truth, Only the person who is essentially capable of remaining silent is capable of speaking essentially.[2] Only in the holy awe of silence can there be authentic knowingness.’

[1] As noted in Book One, Eli generally preferred to say Elysées, the French version of Elysium, having lived in Paris for a short time, where much of the culture had embraced the name.
[2] Fear and Trembling; published in 1843 by Søren Kierkegaard, Danish philosopher (1813-1855)

After giving some thought to this quote by Sir James Jeans, I decided to include a short excerpt on the subject of thoughts that I've copied from my unpublished novel, Surreal Adventures (still being edited. (Let me know what you think.)

‘You know James, it takes a great deal of courage for a philosopher to state what’s obvious, or at least, should be obvious to the free thinker because once spurious beliefs become politicized, it’s very difficult to dislodge them until the delusions play out, generally with disastrous consequences.’

I’m not sure how well I’d cope with a culture with his fascist mindlessness. It’s fortunate the Flatlands only represent the subjective components of my past experiences in London,

‘Are you sure about that?’ Rhom said, smirking. ‘What if your reality back home is only a denser plane of virtual reality that has crystalized within the collective consciousness of your earth?

‘Huh? I think I would prefer, Rhom, if you don’t further mess with my mind by taking me down more rabbit holes today, okay. I’m still getting used to this one.’

‘You might not always be aware of it, but often you go places in your deep thoughts, especially while you’re asleep. That’s why, even before you left the Flatlands, you were well on your way to the Mountain. Remember, thoughts don’t just appear while you think them. Whether they’re my thoughts, your thoughts, or someone else’s, intentional thoughts continue to ripple through the universe, just as waves spread out from a pebble cast into the pond. The question is which of these ripples do I wish to receive.

‘I’ve never thought about simple thoughts having such far-reaching consequences.’ I said.

‘In fact, you too, in as much you are an entity of consciousness, are a far-reaching consequence of what might seem a far-reaching thought.’

‘I am?’

‘Most certainly, he said. ‘You are a thought in the mind of God that finds expression in wherever dimension you might find yourself, be it in or out of your body… be it at your favourite pub or sailing these astral seas with me. And not only that, because you are created in the Mind of the Creator, you have the capacity to co-create whatever thoughts you wish to manifest. By this, worlds become projections of entwined thoughts.

‘Entwined thoughts, I asked, what do you mean by that.’

I say entwined, because thoughts are both projected and received, just as sound waves are transmitted into space, then picked up by whatever radio receivers they are attuned to. Likewise, those most closely consociated with a thought, be it of higher celestial frequencies, your planet’s spectrum or the lower realms, resonate with what’s being transmitted. Do you now understand how prayer works? It’s a thought that projects itself in the light of love… just as voodoo projects its curses in the darkness of fear? Which thought would you rather be consociated with?

‘Do we have a choice,’ I asked, ‘considering how unwelcomed thoughts impinge upon our consciousness?’

‘Can you change the dial on your radio when you don’t like what you hear?’ he said. You always have a choice, and even if you can’t turn your radio off, you can always select whatever you wish to tune into.

‘Truthful thoughts can be heard by anyone who is open to truth, just as all false thoughts create interference patterns on the template of truth. Those who embrace falsehood are attracted only to what is broadcasted from the house of illusion.

‘In the same way, when you return, always remember to attune to what thoughts are true when you speak, and only ask questions that lead to the truth, just as Socrates did while on earth. Truthful questions have obvious answers, yet they are often the most neglected, especially when the most honest response is, I don’t know. The world, for its own good, needs to hear what it most wishes to avoid. A truthful thought of pure intent can shake the foundations of the world.

When truth is proclaimed in the Flatlands, all the structures built on faulty foundations will soon crumble. In fact, you might already have witnessed these early stages of his cratering, just by me asking a few simple questions at the forum. Just think what might happen after you return there to proclaim what you’ve come to understand.’

‘Are you suggesting the questions you posed at the forum might have gone as far as to affect the earth-plane?’

‘Of course,’ Rhom said, ‘there are many who...’

Just then, as if it had been staged, the lovely young woman who shunned me in the auditorium by walking away from my advances suddenly came running up to us from across the park.

SUMMARY OF ELYSIUM'S PASSAGE: THE SUMMIT

This the first in a series of five Elysium narrations regarding a young British philosopher named James Phillips who finds himself living in an altered state of reality while still remaining on earth.

After experiencing a near-fatal fall while climbing to the summit of a remote mountain in the Andes, James awakens in a new dimension. He soon encounters two mysterious beings who provide him with a very different perspective on the nature of his existence. Over the next year, before his body recovers from the coma, he is challenged to re-examine his understanding about life’s meaning and purpose far beyond anything he previously believed or could believe.

An engaging and sometime surreal adventure with intimations of impending romance, the narrative explores the most important questions about life, death, reality and our ultimate destiny.

The Plains of Elysium (Champs-Élysées) was described by Homer, Hesiod, Virgil and many other poets as the paradisiac afterlife realm reserved for heroes. As the title suggests, this is about a journey through a passage that leads towards Elysium’s exciting realm of existence.

The following comments are excerpts from among the first readers including a number of Amazon five star reviews. To read the full reviews, go to READER REVIEWS on www.elysiumspassage.com or directly at https://digitalbloggers.com/arts-and-entertainment/reader-reviews

"A delightful mix of fantasy, reality, conjecture and humour; Mr Meyers draws the reader into the story with a gentle narrative that captures the imagination, leaving one anxious to get to the next page drawing you into his exceptional world.”

"Quietly, gently, and without imposition, the Author unfolds the pages, creating an intricate, interlocking bridge spanning the chasm between mind and heart. Renewing, refreshing, restoring. In my bereavement, it was vigil and light…"

“Excellently written with an exceedingly deep understanding of this world and the next. The characters are very well written and engaging. I can't wait to complete this book!"

“Takes the reader on both a philosophical and spiritual journey, a journey that at times is both disquieting and tranquil. James, a British Philosopher can be irreverent and caustic, traits that should have left me cringing, but instead made me laugh out loud. Elysium’s Passage is a fun, enlightening and remarkable book.”

“This is a masterful fantasy, becoming a real possibility, as the reader is drawn into the story. The Summit leaves you anxious for the next book in the series, yet also leaves you totally satisfied with the world you have just visited. Genius! An exciting, yet calming, experience that is not to be missed."

"There was hardly a page on which I did not find at least one sentence worthy of hi-lighting for future reference. In addition, I thoroughly enjoyed the main character, James, whose personality and passionate verbal exchanges with the other characters, kept me coming back for more. I am reading the book for a second time while I wait for the next one in this series to be made available."

“N.G. Meyers has clearly put a great deal of research and thought into what the afterlife may look like and I like his perspective. It’s an altogether welcoming and exciting vision. The book gives one a great deal to think about and a reassuring confidence that the end of our lives is truly the beginning of life in the next. I highly recommend it."

"I am really enjoying your book, it’s fantastic! It is so incredible and diversified that I can’t really explain it to other people, so what I say is just read this book. Thank you so much for the blessings that you’ve given the world!"

“The humour interjected into a serious discussion makes me laugh out loud. Totally unexpected....l may be in the presence of at least a master, if not a genius. A fair ride into reality... seeking that which is unseen, yet absolutely real.”

“An engaging story of adventure embracing man's deepest desire to search for meaning and purpose, N.G. Meyers takes the reader on an adventurous thought-provoking journey. This book has substance. It is a perfect blend of adventure and fantasy combined with spiritual philosophy. It ignited my imagination. The author magically weaves a good story laced with wit and humour together with deep philosophical wisdom. This book has it all!”

“An evolution in thought is triggered by many fresh philosophical themes which could inspire readers to re-think their reality and former ideologies that have dictated their lives… the author fires readers’ imaginations to view what could be possible when spirit vacates the body.”

“This is the book spiritual seekers have been waiting for. For me, it granted a great read as well as increased inspiration to live every day with a heightened sense of purpose. I highly recommend it.

“The Summit is capable of hooking readers and luring them to search for Book 2 to discover more about Dr. Philip’s surreal trek into the mysterious unknown universe. This thick book is well worth the read and to share…”

“Mind-blowing statements and speculation (‘…everyone is a non-physical thought form conceived in the Mind of God, preserved for all eternity because God’s thoughts never die…’). Many will find Meyers’ journey up the Mountain intriguing—and possibly even life-changing.” (BLUEINK REVIEW)

“In its effort to grapple with fundamental questions about the meaning of life, it raises questions that have echoed throughout the ages, including about where we come from, where we are going, who we are.”  (CLARION REVIEW)

Elysium’s Passage Series to be Published in 2024

1. The Ascent is the first novel in the Chronicles of Elysium Passage series that’s foundational to everything else that happens in the following books, embarking on an adventure that will surprise and delight the reader like no other book.

It all begins with an extreme adventure of climbing a remote and challenging mountain somewhere in the Andean Mountains. Just as James, the protagonist, is about to reach the mountain summit, he falls into an abyss that leaves him in a coma for almost a year.

After being airlifted by a forestry helicopter and flown back to London, where his body remains for almost a year. Eventually, he learns it was not him but his body that was rescued. Several days later, without understanding what happened, he continues to climb to the summit in an alternate dimension of higher consciousness.

Fortuitously, he meets two adventurers on the summit ridge who are no longer of this world. After that, his surreal life leads him to several new adventures in the subsequent chronicles that include a rich mix of adventure, romance, and fantasy, along with profound discussions of philosophy, spirituality and the afterlife.

2. The  Summit, the second novel in the Chronicles of Elysium Passage series, carries on where James, the narrator and protagonist, is taught more about a multidimensional reality that he finds difficult to comprehend.

Not only does he find he’s not as clever as he imagined, but his off-world companions on the summit demonstrate that much of what he believed about life was not just parochial but wrong. At first, he finds this difficult to comprehend since their teachings are contrary to his limited understanding of non-material reality.

After being tricked into teleporting off a ledge where he was trapped, James becomes aware of the new reality that makes him capable of far more adventures than could have ever been experienced previously in his physical body back home.

Now, if only he would win over the only woman in this life who matters, the nurse on the other side of the veil, who continually demonstrates her unconditional love toward his healing.

Warning: This book may also open the reader’s eyes to a much vaster reality than most might be aware. As with the other Chronicles, there are discussions of philosophy, the spiritual afterlife and what might seem like fantasy.

3. Quantum Leaps is the third novel in Chronicles of Elysium Passage, where James, the philosopher-protagonist, teleports back to London to visit his body and make contact with the special nurse taking care of it in his absence. Immediately, he feels an inexplicable spiritual bond with her for reasons he remains unaware of.

Now aroused by a renewed interest in matters of love, the beginnings of a relationship begin to emerge as he attempts to reach across the chasm of their worlds. But it’s not until the fifth novel, Mystical Romance, that he encounters her in a way that he finds difficult to believe.

However, before that can happen, there is much about his failed relationships that must be resolved before he is ready to move forward in his new life in Elysium’s Passage. It is during this time he christens his comatose body as the fall guy since it took the fall for him down the abyss so he could learn the lessons he’s now learning.

That will be the next focus of his life, where in his next Surreal Adventures, he is given virtual lessons to release many of his past beliefs about life.

4. Surreal Adventures is the fourth novel in the Chronicles of Elysium Passage, which finds James, the protagonist and narrator, escorted by his companions to a remote South Pacific Island, where he is left to reflect on what he’s learned.

During the next forty days, he battles the demons of his past as he works through some rather painful issues from his early youth. Here, in a tropical storm, he encounters an eery suspended spectre of the one he loved yet still resents for abandoning him as a child.

After this, he achieves peace of mind and is ready to return to his lodge to join his off-world companions on the Andes summit. However, just when it seemed things couldn’t get any stranger, a sixteenth-century sea captain sails his ancient ‘ghost’ ship onto the beach. Together, they sail off on a mystical ocean voyage to a couple of virtual islands supposedly in the South Pacific, where he witnesses and, at times, participates in several important life lessons.

His surreal encounters in the Flatlands illustrate the deficiencies of contemporary academia. Next, they sail off to the next island, the Hill Country, where he witnesses several peculiarities in organized religion. These experiences, though virtual, provide him with fascinating and enlightening allegorical examples of his life in the world.

Near the end, these encounters help prepare him for a new challenge within the interior of a mountain, where he falls deep into a dark tomb of fear. After being rescued by a mysterious stranger wielding his Excaliber, he continues on to where his life is about to be transformed in the following chronicle, Mystical Romance.

5. Mystical Romance is the fifth chronicle in Elysium Passage, which will surprise the reader with a romantic twist of how love is expressed in higher realms. From this lofty perspective, everything about intimacy is understood as within, so without.

After escaping his tomb, James, the narrator and protagonist, makes his way through a maze of tunnels until he arrives at a large oak door, which he opens with the golden key he had been given. There, he steps into Elysium’s Passage’s Great Hall, where his life and recent achievements are celebrated now that his eyes have been opened to perceive a fascinating interior world of wonderment… and romance.

To say more might risk diminishing the multitude of delightful surprises as circumstances begin to open to The Elixir, where James is about to re-enter his earthly body’s existence.

6. The Elixir is the sixth chronicle of the Elysium Passage series that prepares James, the narrator-protagonist, to awaken and return to his body in London. Before that can happen, however, his off-worlder friend presents a mysterious equation enshrouded with a light code frequency that will stimulate multidimensional DNA strands within him.

Much of this narration is centred in London, where his nurse unknowingly becomes involved in how the Elixir’s equation finds its way from a taxi cab driver to higher echelons of science. There are many twists in how she unwittingly brings the Elixir to the attention of mathematicians and physicists, after which they eventually discover how to code the equation into a laser ray to stimulate his fall-guy body into full consciousness.

Ostensibly a new Adam, he is destined to return humanity to a higher multidimensional existence. How this happens is filled with intrigue, as is his shocking return to his earthly body.

7. The Return is the seventh and last chronicle in the series where James, the narrator and protagonist, has re-emerged from Elysium’s Passage as he readjusts to life in the third dimension. Many of the events experienced in the previous novels are tied together in an exciting, fast-moving, action-packed narrative.

Now, back in the third dimension, all memories seem to have been lost, with his fall guy’s brain not being aware of what happened to him in the last year. As a consequence, it takes a while for him to be convinced he had been out of his earthly body for almost a year.

Through some rather unexpected events and his girlfriend’s urging, he is brought to an awareness of much that occurred out of the body. Though much of the chronicle, this brain hasn’t caught up to the changes he experienced in his heart in the alternate realm.

Through some harsh life lessons back home, he discovers what he has become and the many challenges that lie ahead of him in fulfilling his mission to bring change to this planet.
