It's Ok To Take A Break (Or Time For A Change?)

Hello Everyone,

It’s ok to take a break!  This is what I wanted to write about this week as yesterday I did not do any sketching.  I just needed the day to relax and recharge myself.

The last week or two I have felt a little bit plateaued and it’s felt like a bit of a chore to pick up the pencil. Not sure wether that’s due to the subject matter or the tools I am using as I seem to have settled into using pencil all the time.

Time For A Change?

Is it time for a bit of a change I wonder.  I did dabble with some digital art towards the end of the week. Or should I get my markers out?  I have a lot of questions running round my brain which seem to be more of a distraction than a help at the moment, can you relate?

What’s The Plan

Hmmm What’s the plan?  I think when feelings like this plan its a good idea to set a specific goal, something that can focus you in, drown out the clutter in the brain.  I have taken yesterday off to just ‘chill out’ really which helped a lot.  Now my goal for the week is to:

  • Just use procreate and my iPad and Apple Pencil as my medium.
  • Find 3 tutorials either from Skillshare or YouTube on procreate, something that guides you through generating a piece of artwork so I can learn some aspects of it and cement it in my mind.
  • Then after those tutorials use what I have learnt to generate a piece of my own artwork.

The goals above I hope will give me focus, something to aim for, expand my skills and knowledge and I will have some artwork at the end of it bringing it altogether. If you feel like you are stuck in a bit of a rut, take a break then make yourself a little plan to do something different and set a few goals for the week to help get yourself back on track.

So that’s my plan and I will let you know how I get on next week.  To see my daily artworks check out my Instagram account @zoebadgerart.

Happy Sketching
