Still exploring and drawing faces this week. I was not sure what I was going to write about this week as not much has happened since last week other than I have been focusing on faces again.
I have been diving into reference images on Pinterest and using them to really focus on how I use them and to understand further the places and angles of the face. I wanted to push beyond the full on, three quarter and side profile of a face. The aim is so that I can be more dynamic in my sketches and start to create scenes and stories with them.
I am still in the consuming stage with this one, of YouTube watching and buying some supplies. I feel this will err on the side of mixed media, collage and possibly integrate into a bullet journal too, although I am not sure at this point.
I have also had a subscription to Skillshare for a while which is an online learning platform of artists and creatives that have put together classes on all manner of creative subjects. It really is a goldmine. I am currently doing one on creating female characters which I hope to finish in the next week or so.
I am forever learning and exploring and still to find my niche and style yet but I believe it will come in the not too distant future. I am just having fun exploring all sorts of options, styles and mediums at the moment. The big constant though is faces and the human form although I have not done any ‘bodies’ for a while so this might be something I pick up again soon.
Do you find you pick up areas then move onto different ones and then come back round again? Wether it be faces, hands, feet, bodies etc? If you do you are not alone and this is perfectly ok. It used to worry me but now I feel that it is all going to come together naturally and I will do some sketches then realise one day and have that aha moment. Until then I will keep playing with my art and still explore and draw faces.
