QUOTES AND EXCERPTS

FROM ELYSIUM'S PASSAGE NOVEL SERIES

THE ASCENT - THE SUMMIT QUANTUM LEAPS - SURREAL ADVENTURES

MYSTICAL ROMANCE - THE ELIXIR - THE RETURN

INTRODUCTION

.

.

This post draws on the content from a Book of Quotations, featuring many established classic quotes in the order they appear in the series, along with select novel excerpts. I plan to publish this later this year, along with the novel series, to help readers appreciate the Elysium's Passage series content and tenure. I may later include the 500 footnotes I'm working on in the Quotation book to provide interesting facts and backup information readers might overlook while reading the novels.

Elysium’s Passage is a seven‑novel cycle of philosophical fiction that traces a journey of consciousness beyond physical life – and back again. When James Phillips, a British philosopher, survives a near‑fatal accident, his familiar understanding of reality begins to dissolve. What follows is not a sudden awakening but a gradual ascent through altered states of perception, identity, love, and meaning.

The Ascent, The Summit, Quantum Leaps, Surreal Adventures, Mystical Romance, The Elixir, and The Return unfold as a long‑form inquiry into what it means to be conscious, embodied, and human. The non-physical realms James encounters are not symbolic backdrops but lived environments where philosophical ideas are tested through experience, relationships, humour, doubt, and intimacy

As the series progresses, its narrative mode evolves. Early volumes lean into inquiry and instruction; middle volumes experiment boldly with nonlinear reality, altered perception, and ontological play; later volumes ground metaphysical insight in intimacy, ethical consequence, embodiment, and return.

Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble, every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall
declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire, and the fire
shall try every man's work of what sort it is.

I Corinthians 3:12

Cogito Ergo Sum: I think, therefore I am.

Yeshua John 8:32

Old things have passed away; all things have become new.

George Berkeley, Philosopher

Mind no longer appears as an accidental intruder into the realm of matter.
We are beginning to suspect that we ought rather hail it as the creator
and governor of this realm. If the universe is a universe of thought,
then its creation must have been an act of thought.

 Sir James Jeans, Physicist

What objects are in themselves, apart from all the receptivity of our sensibility,

You shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free.

Yeshua, John 8:32

No phenomenon is a physical phenomenon until it is an observed phenomenon

The more one is absorbed in so-called philosophy,
the greater one’s delusion and blindness.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word
was with God, and the Word was God.

We must be clear that when it comes to atoms, language can be used only as in poetry.

as with creating images and establishing mental connections.

Souls must re-enter the Absolute from whence they have emerged.
But to accomplish this end, they must develop the perfections, the germ of which is planted in them.
And if they have not developed these traits in this one life, then they must commence another, a third,
and so forth. They must go on like this until they acquire the condition to join again with the Creator.

Man, when he is reborn, passes through the ages as he who is born;
and the preceding state is always as an egg in respect to the subsequent one;
thus he is continually conceived and born: and this not only when he lives in the world,
but also when he comes into another life.

     Emanuel Swedenborg

Why, sometimes I’ve believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast.

For you see, so many extraordinary things had happened lately that
Alice began to think that there were very few things that were impossible.

Lewis Carroll, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland

The substratum for everything is of a mental character. Our ultimate analysis
of space leads us not to a 'here' and a 'there', but to an extension
such as that which relates 'here' and 'there'. To put the conclusion rather crudely,
space is not a lot of points close together; it is a lot of distances interlocked.

A new scientific truth does not triumph by convincing its opponents and making them see the Light,
but rather because its opponents eventually die and a new generation grows up that is familiar with it
… science advances one funeral at a time.

     Max Planck, Physicist

Space and time and matter… and at the bottom, we reach symbols.
Its substance melted into shadow

… what no eye has seen, what no ear has heard
and what no human mind has conceived.

A man will renounce any pleasures you like,
but he will not give up his suffering.

G.I. Gurdjieff

The real voyage of discovery consists not in
seeking new landscapes, but in having new eyes

Marcel Proust

No one pours new wine into old wineskins.
Otherwise, the wine will burst the skins,
and both the wine and the wineskins will be ruined

Yeshua, Mark 2:22

The show that is going on obviously acquires a meaning only with
regard to the mind that contemplates it.
But what science tells us about this relationship is patently absurd: as if mind had
only been produced by the very display that it is now watching.

Erwin Schrodinger, Physicist

For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required

Yeshua, Luke 12:48

I don't admire the excess of a single virtue, such as courage,
unless I see at the same time an excess of the opposite virtue,
as in Epaminondas, who possessed extreme courage and kindness.

We show greatness not by being at one extreme but by touching
both at once and occupying all the space in between
– perhaps it’s only a flash of the soul from one extreme to the other
– but at least that shows how agile the soul is

Pascal, Pensées

The denial of God is the ego’s religion

A Course in Miracles

The voice of one crying in the wilderness,
prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.

is capable of speaking essentially.

  Soren Kierkegaard

The soul, which is immaterial and invisible, exists in no material place without having
a body suited to the nature of that place; accordingly, it at one time
puts off one body, which was necessary before,
but which is no longer adequate in its changed state, and exchanges it for a second.

We’ve met the enemy, and he is us

Pogo (Comic strip caracter)

Philosophy applies thought to mystery, and that
is why philosophy becomes such a muddle of words.

 Regina Dawn Akers

Life is service to God. God is service to life. You are God in life. Thus, you are both life and service to life. The vast universe is the same: created to love and to serve life, to be of God and be of service to God.
To be served and to serve. To provide and be provided for, to have needs met, and to meet needs;
thus, the circular nature of the universe leaves no one unattended. Yet you realise this not.

A Course of Miracles

Helen Keller

When vision is denied, confusion of cause and effect becomes inevitable.
The purpose now becomes to keep obscure the cause of the effect and make the effect
appear as the cause. This seeming independence of effect enables it to stand of itself,
and capable of serving as a cause of the events and feeling its maker thinks it causes

See how the body’s eyes rest on externals and cannot go beyond.
Watch how they stop at nothingness, unable to go beyond the form of meaning.
Nothing is so blinding as the perception of form.
For sight of form means understanding has been obscured.

A Course in Miracles

They’re talking about things of which they don’t have the slightest understanding.
It’s only because of their stupidity that they’re able to be so sure of themselves.

Franz Kafka, The Trial

It is difficult for the matter-of-fact physicist to accept the view that the substratum
for everything is mental composition… the revelation by modern physics of the void within the atom is more disturbing than astronomy’s revelation of interstellar space’s immense void.
The stuff of the world is mind-stuff – the aggregation of relations and relata
which form the building blocks for the physical world.

There are no objects in the ocean since all that exists is an infinite ocean of

Victor Hugo

And because conjugial love is chaste, pure and holy, the intercourse is also full.
The intercourse is then more delightful and blessed because when the love
becomes of the spirit it becomes more interior and pure, and therefore more
perceptible, and every delight increases according as it is perceived,
and increases until its blessedness are discernible in its delight.

          Emanuel Swedenborg

When you make the two into one, when you make the inner like the outer and the
outer like the inner, and the upper like the lower, when you make male and female into a single one,
so that the male will not be male and the female will not be female
… then you will enter the kingdom.

 Yeshua, Gnostic Gospel of Thomas

And the two shall become one.

Yeshua, Gospel of Mark

After death, when man becomes a spirit, the same mutual inclination continues, and this cannot be without similar intercourse. For man is made just as before. Nothing whatever is wanting in the male and nothing whatever in the female. They are like themselves in respect to form, and equally so as to affections and thoughts. What else can follow then but that they have similar intercourse?
And because conjugial love is chaste, pure and holy, the intercourse is also full.

The intercourse is then more delightful and blessed, because when the love becomes
of the spirit, it becomes more interior and pure, and therefore more perceptible,
and every delight increases according as it is perceived,
and increases until its blessedness is discernible in its delight.

Emanuel Swedenborg
Conjugial Love

This feeling of liberation far exceeds the dream of freedom sometimes experienced in special relationships. It is a sense of actual escape from limitations. If you will consider what this ‘transportation’ really entails, you will realise that it is a sudden unawareness of the body, and a joining of yourself and something else, in which your mind enlarges to encompass it.
It becomes part of you as you unite with it.

The world is all one song with different notes played in harmony to create the one. It is the song that is cherished, not the notes. Remember that you are not the note. That is a distorted view of the music. We are the song as one sound together. Love the entire song. Every aspect is equally important to the whole, every aspect valuable and cherished for its part in it.

Yeshua, John 14:20

‘Here is where you work in relationship to maintain what you have learned,
for you know that when you return to the level ground from which you climbed,
you will be different as a result of having made your ascent.

The hard work is done. What you gain here, you gain from what is beyond effort and beyond learning… what you will have gained on return will never leave you but will sustain you forever more.’

  A Course of Love

Man is not the centre of the universe,
rather the universe is in the centre of man.

Plotinus, Enneads

Beyond the body, beyond the sun and stars, past everything you see and yet somehow familiar, is an arc of golden Light that stretches, as you look, into a great and shining circle. And all the circle fills with Light before your eyes. The edges of the circle disappear, and what is in it no longer is contained at all.
The Light expands and covers everything, extending to infinity,
forever shining, and with no break or limit anywhere.

In the spirit of man, the summit is one with the inmost recess

Every kind of spirit turns toward his or her ruling love.

Emanuel Swedenborg, Divine Love and Wisdom

Seek ye first the kingdom, and all the rest will be added to you.

Yeshua, Matthew 6:33

This is the function of your holy relationship. For what one thinks the other will experience.
What can this mean, except your minds are one? From loving minds, there is no separation.
And every thought in one brings gladness to the other because they are the same.
Joy is unlimited because each shining thought of love extends its being and creates more of itself.

A Course in Miracles

SECTION TWO

EXCERPTS FROM ELYSIUM’S PASSAGE

BOOK ONE: THE ASCENT

As we ascend our Mountain further up and further in, we gain greater clarity and vision in seeing who we are while we remain in the world.

Strange as this place was at times, I had learned some valuable things about myself that I might not have wished to know. But I was soon to find this was only the beginning. There remained much for me to discover about myself before I would be stripped down to knowing who I was, none of which had anything to do with what I did in life. Nor did I realise that finding myself would be my primary purpose for being here, just as I supposed it should be for everyone, wherever they might be. 48

________________

As it turned out, I was soon to find out about everything, in fact, more than I might have wished. I found all these events weren’t about what was happening out there so much as what was happening within me. Furthermore, by some strange quirk of fate, I was implicated in the very questions I was seeking answers to, far beyond anything I could have imagined. 50

________________

You know, chaps, I may have had a dream, and yet, in many ways, it’s also everyone’s dream, a splendid archetypal dream… don’t you think? Consider humanity’s universal struggle that takes him from the depths of despair to the heights of ecstasy, from the Lowland swamps to the Mountain peaks. In fact, on another level, it might be understood as a statement of evolution from the primaeval swamps towards our upward ascent into higher realms of human consciousness.’ 53

… every wizard needs a slat a draoichta.’ Then he cried out: ‘Oscail geata Flaithhis Délig a tsoilse mhór amach,’ tossing the flaming stick as it spiralled into the night sky like a blazing star into the darkness. I never saw it come down. Then he turned to me and said, ‘I have even deeper wizardry for you, James, that has to do with the alchemy of your soul. It starts with knowing who you are. You still don’t know, but when you do, heaven’s Light will glow brighter than the flames of a wizard’s wand tossed into the night sky. Are you prepared to alchemise this Light into gold?’ 55

________________

Who was I? – such an elementary question… one I hadn’t given much thought to, even though I understood how vital such ontological concerns were in ancient days. Am I more than my body, as my inner intuition suggested, or am I just a function of a biological constitution? If I didn’t know who I was, how would anyone else?

I struggled to find a meaningful answer, although I couldn’t, only more questions. Where did I come from, where am I going, and will I ever get there… wherever that might be? Or will I remain stuck in bogs and ruts on a journey that leads nowhere? 57

________________

You never did wake up from the dream; the dream woke you and slowly changed your life. You knew you had to follow where you were called… We only wish to remind you of what it was trying to tell you, so don’t shun this gift you gave to yourself. It was a revelation from you to you. You earned it, my friend; therefore, it’s all yours: your guide and future reality. It gave you the vision you needed to find your way here; it didn’t come from your mind but from your heart… it’s taken you this long for your heart to show you the way up, just as it seemed in your dream! You’ve gone to a lot of trouble to make it this far.’ 64

________________

‘So, James,’ Mo said, ‘let me ask you again if you know who you are?... I only said there is an answer; I didn’t say what it is, since it can only be known to you, no one else, since we don’t share your soul. It can’t be learned; it can only be discovered, not by the mind but rather by the heart.’ 67

________________

We’re way off-grid, a long way from any transmitter service, so you can’t possibly receive information from anyone unless you have a satellite phone you’re not telling me about.’

‘When you are the grid, you don’t need a phone,’ Eli chuckled.
‘When you are the grid – what in bloody hell is that supposed to mean?’
‘What I mean is that there is nowhere that Source is not. And since we’re all part of Source….’

‘Save the metaphysics for later, Eli; I only want to know what’s real and certain.’
‘There’s nothing certain about your fragile mortal body,’ Mo said, ‘so it’s quite possible that it won’t make it; then how real will it be? Nothing temporal is real; rest assured, however, you’re not temporal; only your mortal body is. If you haven’t learned that yet, you soon will.’ 81

________________

‘What’s wrong, James?’ Eli said. ‘You look perplexed, if not a bit agitated. Let me explain what Mo is saying. First, you must realise your consciousness is not limited to the receiver-transmitter device resting on your mortal shoulder, you know, the one that transduces consciousness to the material plane of human existence. For now, it’s not of much use to you since its systems are down. Besides, your cognition exists at a higher frequency on the 6D matrix grid you're currently anchored to.

‘So, you see, your brain’s condition is not a problem; in fact, as you’re here, your mind has never been better; it just needs you to take the fetters off your beliefs by accepting that your consciousness is not made of material stuff. If I may say, it has a mind of its own.’ 82

________________

… please don’t speak to me about inhabiting some etheric light body. That’s rubbish! I think one body is enough. I mean, ask any neurosurgeon about this; they are the bright people who poke around in the brain’s labyrinth of memories to get all kinds of impulses! They should know.’

Is the shadow more real than the reality that casts it?’ asked Mo. ‘What comes first, the brain or the mind?’ 85

________________

‘What if the Voice was calling you to where you might become something more than possible in your stifling Lowlands?’ Eli asked. ‘Now that you’ve ascended beyond the swamp gases, does this Mountain not seem more real?

’It’s your mixing metaphors with facts that makes things seem unreal,’ I smirked.
‘Why should it confuse you when myths and metaphors are but concealed realities that can’t be perceived below in the Lowlands? But since you’re now up here, not down there, all should become clear, like mists parting in the morning sun. 86

________________

Perhaps it’s not easy for a modern thinker to concede to transcendence after being conditioned and steeped in the narrow presuppositions of mechanistic theorems and linguistic paralysis.’

Feeling elated, I shouted, just as I had after confronting my dark side on the beach. ‘Indeed, I am the conqueror… for I have conquered; never again shall I be possessed by the spectre of fear or its dragons.’ 230

________________

‘Did you say linguistic paralysis?’ ‘Ah, sorry, I meant analysis, although paralysis might apply in some cases. My apologies to Ludwig Wittgenstein, yet even he understood the limitations of what he had posited after grasping the higher spiritual significance of where you now exist.’
I think you must realise that much of the last century’s unfortunate reductionist trends have recently been getting stale. Nevertheless, the implicit assumptions continue to spread like a nasty virus among many of the natural and social sciences in the Flatlands.’ 88

________________

Once you find who you are, you will know your home exists beyond space and time. Then your shackles will be removed, and you will discover there’s more to you than you realised or could realise, a soul that can never die, no matter how many mountains you fall off. If you refuse to understand this, you will only prolong your confusion and uncertainty.’ 88

Depending on which dimension you exist in, your body will manifest in the resonance of your spiritual essence. For now, we only wish you to accept that you’re more than your body as surely as you are more than the clothes on your back.’ 89

________________

‘I’m not sure where you are going with this,’ I said, ‘nevertheless, I’m certain most philosophers and scientists know what they’re talking about.’

‘I’m not sure they do,’ Eli said, ‘when all they’re concerned about are analysing the fragments of parts, reductio ad absurdum. Wisdom, however, concerns itself with the whole because only the whole provides definition and meaning to the parts. What meaning or purpose does the kidney or liver have when separated from the body?

‘Seldom are these questions raised in the Flatlands, where they’re more obsessed with parts than understanding the whole, which always remains more than the sum of the parts.

Without integration of knowledge, the Flatlands remains fragmented… and  believe me, that’s not wise.’ 92‘Of course, we understand that analysis is necessary as a tool, provided we accept it’s never sufficient unto itself. Philosophers must realise the difference between what is necessary and what is sufficient. As I’m sure you realise, this is foundational to philosophy. Parts are what’s necessary, yet only the whole is sufficient. Once philosophers understand this, they can inform their scientific colleagues what they’re missing.’ 93

________________

While mystics continue to study this esoterica in remote areas, few in the modern world are aware of these treasures, yet ancient wisdom passed down through the ages is beyond compare. Unfortunately, their meaning remains incomprehensible, if not irrelevant, to the Flatlanders who can only understand exoterically, which is how their land became so flat.’ 94

________________

So, who are the real cavemen, those carrying bludgeons or others carrying briefcases stuffed with stock portfolios? Both dwell in the cave’s inner recesses of spiritual ignorance, refusing to be exposed to the sun’s divine illumination lest the Light irritates their eyes. As Plato so eloquently stated, their truth would be nothing but the shadows of images. What could be flatter and more linear than modern minds that don’t wish to understand what truths lie beyond the shadows of their understanding? 94

________________

Then let me remind you what your dream was trying to illustrate. As you ascended here, you rose above the clouds and fog below, allowing the sun to reveal what you couldn’t see before. When your vision shone through the clouds of the Lowlands, you left your hovel cave and ascended towards this realm of Light.

‘Now that you have reached this plane of existence, the Light may seem irritating until your inward eyes adjust. However, you will soon understand what you believed was only a fading shadow of the eternal reality that awaits you.’ 95

________________

‘I guess it all comes down to what we wish to believe, reality or phantasms of reality.’

‘I’m not sure how many are even aware of what they have chosen to believe,’ Eli said, ‘since too few are aware of what assumptions they have unquestioningly accepted, preferring to go along with whatever their friends, leaders, and institutions tell them. It’s easier and safer that way.’ easier and safer that way.’

‘That much I can agree with,’ I said. ‘Too many of our contemporary beliefs are based on what’s fashionable with little substance, often based on uncontested reactions toward more traditional belief systems.’ 99

________________

‘How can one transcend to higher planes when it’s assumed such realms don’t exist?

‘Of course, logical constructs are essential in debating concerns limited to the earth plane. However, these analytical tools don’t go very far when inquiring into life, death, meaning and the source of consciousness. That’s why so few philosophers these days bother to ask questions they don’t understand.’ 100

________________

‘In truth, that’s how the Flatlands got its name; it was by imposing its flat, mechanistic interpretations on everything. Because of this levelling, you still find it difficult to acknowledge what we tell you about the vertical dimension of reality, even when your heart understands what your mind resists. It knows that the flat and narrow planes can never satisfy your soul’s deeper longings. Your problem is that you’re not aware of your inward journey… the new realm of your existence beyond.’ 101

________________

For you to come into a fuller understanding of existence, you will need to subordinate your mind to the heart’s inner wisdom. I don’t mean for you to displace your mind; only make it subject to the flow of divine wisdom. The ego’s mind remains externally focused, separating itself from the essence centre of your being.

‘That’s why few of your so-called intellectuals can see the implicit unity of the universe and why even fewer care. Too many on earth hear only the meaningless clatter of whatever intrudes into their lives, never acting intentionally; instead, reacting to outward circumstances.’

‘It’s why the mind needs to unite with the heart so it will learn to respond, rather than react,’ Eli said, ‘or it will lose itself to all the inane distractions of the ego. As we keep saying, the heart is the spirit’s divine portal to higher consciousness, which is why the constraints of your past training will fall away as soon as you learn to reconcile your heart with your mind. 103

‘The heart is not only the centre of your physical being,’ Mo said, ‘it’s also the nonlocal, invisible centre of what is called the soul, that which you are. Just think about it, James, you don’t have a soul; you are the soul, even if science doesn’t yet recognise what can’t be seen or measured, which is why science is often considered soulless, a threat to humanity when not informed by the heart. I think history and modern warfare bear this out.’

‘Remember,’ Eli said, ‘it’s the heart that’s the divine receptacle of Love and Light, not the misguided ego-mind. Until science defers to its wisdom, the mind will not recognise that all physical appearances, including the heart, are vibratory interpretations of our Source… the divine essence in all of existence. Furthermore, all spiritual reality has a corresponding form that manifests across the full spectrum of dimensions, which means all appearances proceed from the thought patterns we have co-created.’ 103

‘Best of all, the higher you ascend, the more expansive the view beyond the sierras.’

‘Beyond the sierras? I’m not sure that’s possible with the earth being a sphere.’

‘You might be surprised,’ Mo said. ‘In fact, I’m sure you will be, which is why we’ll show you only a little at a time of what’s on the spectrum, so you don’t get too overwhelmed with what’s in the infiniverse. Once you ascend to new vistas, the views will remain with you even when you return home. Believe us; nothing will seem the same as before.’ 106

________________

‘Now, as you ascend higher, you will observe how much more there is to your existence. You will soon find that you can manifest anything that aligns with the creativity of your higher consciousness. The further in and higher you proceed, the more life becomes accessible to you. That’s always been the divine plan.’ 107

‘You were interested in ascending to higher realms; therefore, you ventured further in and further up. Few choose to leave the Lowlands, so few are chosen. In that sense, you are chosen… now take it the distance.’

‘One of the chosen, am I? By whom, the Almighty? I’m not even religious… or Jewish, for that matter.’

‘Because you have chosen, you are chosen!’ Mo said. ‘Because you dared to take on this challenge, you’ve been afforded the opportunity to enrol at Summit U, an honour you have yet to recognise. As you know, the Lowlanders prefer to remain in their boggy swamps rather than ascend to higher elevations. Most have chosen not to choose, which becomes a choice unto itself. But not you! To your credit, you wanted more and so went on to make the most significant decision of your life. 108

‘Unlike Sisyphus, who struggled to roll his heavy boulder up the Mountain, there will be less toil the higher you ascend until only lightness remains. Have you ever noticed how the word light refers to both illumination and weight?’ Eli asked. ‘When illuminated by the Light of the Spirit, the weight of your burdens becomes so lightened that they eventually cease to exist.’ 110

________________

‘When we are born into the world, we become enshrouded with progressively refined sheaths of energy on a spectrum that intermingles with Earth's base frequency. That’s how the human body exists as a duality of spirit and physicality. But since the soul isn’t inextricably tied to the biological body, it’s free to leave at any time, which it often does during periods of deep sleep. That’s how your consciousness, often referred to as a soul, managed to be released from your flesh even while you remain connected to it for as long as your body remains alive on earth. Think of consciousness as a continuum of progressively higher octaves of divine thought-forms emanating from the Ray of Creation.’ 114

________________

Remember, your conscious soul is you, not your body. That’s why we tell you that even after the death of your mortal body, you will continue to have an individuated presence that embodies your expanded consciousness. Nevertheless, you seem to wish to believe you’re the reflection of what you observe in a mirror. But that’s not your identity; instead, it’s only a temporal expression of who you are. Only what exists inwardly can exist outwardly; form follows content, not otherwise. Inward consciousness characterises the soul’s outward appearance, regardless of what fleshly suits you might wear from lifetime to lifetime.’ 122

________________

‘Try to appreciate,’ he said, ‘the time-space continuum is a mental construct of the third dimension rather than the underlying matrix of subatomic reality. Understand, you’re not dragging your body’s electrons through the aether from one place to another. Physicists on earth have already discovered electrons seemingly pop in and out of existence for no apparent reason.’ 141

________________

Since all subatomic particles remain inextricably entangled, seemingly with conscious intent, your astral body can respond even more immediately in this rarefied dimension. Like the electron, you show up wherever you wish without having to transition through space since consciousness is everything and everywhere. Such is the nature of God, Prime Creator. No duality can exist in divine essence since God, by nature, is One. Only in lower dimensions of perception, such as on Earth, is duality perceived. Yet, in truth, all is an extension of the Source of infinite Oneness.’ 142

________________

‘When you’re ready, James, we can discuss these questions at length since there are nuances that need to be considered to appreciate the synthesis of intelligent design and evolutionary principles. They are all entangled in the ongoing process of conscious creation. Remember the guiding precepts upon which all creation is based: as above, so below; as within, so without.’

‘Also realise,’ Eli said, ‘what’s known in the higher spiritual domains remains beyond comprehension until spiritually discerned. As I said before, truth is truth and nothing else. It can never be distorted or obstructed. When you no longer hold to limiting beliefs, you’ll find what you once assumed to be impossible now becomes possible.143

________________

‘Since dualistic reasoning has now become wholly entrenched in the Western world’s reductio-materialist thinking, most scientists assume spiritual reality doesn’t exist, when in fact, it’s all that exists. The very concept is considered redundant and, therefore, obsolete, leading them to believe that the material brain accounts for all mental processes previously regarded as spiritual. 156

‘In truth, we are about as substantial as anything you can find on the Earth plane, in fact, even more so! Yet, there is nothing solid about anything, whether in your world or the higher celestial realms. Mountains, lakes, galaxies, books, angels and pretty girls that appear to be angels – all electromagnetic patterns that appear as crystallised forms within dimensions of consciousness.’ 156

________________

In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. And the earth was without form and void, and darkness was upon the face of the deep – and God said, let there be light.

‘Therefore, it is from the void of nothingness that we experience the light of reality where manifestation takes place. When taken literally, creation may appear to be an actual historical event in linear time, unfolding over seven days or epochs. Regardless, creation out of nothingness is an ongoing state of essence that continues to manifest outwardly from within. As within, so without! That’s why the existential philosophers who say existence precedes essence have it backwards, like everything else. Essence always precedes existence… no exceptions.’ 158

________________

‘Now consider where Genesis states, Let there be light. Inasmuch as it is understood to give form to the void, we might, with Bohm, call form frozen light. Could we not then refer to your spirit body, in its essence, a light form, instead of just an aggregation of cells designed for biological adaptation? Ancient metaphysicians referred to this phenomenon as divine egrēgoros, Greek for an awakened thought-form.’

‘As we suggested before,’ Eli said, ‘the sons of God, being vessels of Source essence, are fractals of one eternal Thought that unceasingly brings the light of existence into all that is or can be. It all begins in the Mind because when in union with the Heart, that’s all there is: Oneness. By this means, we co-create the reality we perceive. Wheeler was right when he said this was a participatory universe.’ 158

________________

‘Certainly, that’s a most intriguing mix of esoterica, religion and science,’ I said. ‘Which reminds me of something I read while working on my thesis; I think it was Berkeley who suggested that the objects and events we experience are of the infinite possibilities that exist in the Mind of God. Not surprisingly, few modern philosophers are amenable to such a notion. Perhaps if he hadn’t used the word God but instead settled for Mind, some might have found this idea more acceptable.’ 160

‘Even when planets eventually cease to exist in form, their essence continues in an etheric timeline, as does your spirit essence continue to exist as a thought-form enveloped in the divine Spirit. What Source has conceived can never be unthought or forgotten. Forever, you remain an evolving and, at times, slightly devolving expression of Source contained within various dimensions, including the one you reside .’

‘So, are you suggesting what the world believes about physical existence is wrong?’

‘It depends on what you mean by physical,’ he said. ‘Most seem to believe that physicality is limited to material expressions, which explains why the world’s understanding of reality remains upside down, inside out and backwards. The illusion sees matter, not spirit; it sees effects, not causes; it sees the temporal, never the eternal; it sees the plain, never the Mountain; it sees with the eyes, yet never with vision.’ 161

________________

‘All I know is that I dwell on a very different plane of existence while occupying a very different body… which is about all I have left to show for myself these days.’

‘Or so it seems,’ he said. ‘In reality, this body is an expression of your most authentic form, the immortal pattern, rather than the temporal biological adaptation of your earthly existence. So you see, you haven’t lost anything of lasting value. Your indestructible spirit body, with its light and subtle form, is less dense than what you’re accustomed to. It’s also sufficiently malleable to project the quality of your unique character since your subtle body configures itself to whatever dimension you might wish to enter. 163

As Mo insists, discovery is a lot more than learning,’ Eli said, ‘that’s not to say learning and discovery don’t go together. Most certainly, they do; yet, learning can only take you so far - ask any inventor. That’s why we hope to deconstruct whatever misinformation you’ve acquired, along with Flatland’s unquestioned assumptions that lead nowhere but to wrong conclusions. In this process, you may find that we are the true sceptics. As I suggested, scepticism is never a bad thing, provided it’s not used in the ego’s service but to discern truth from falsehood.

‘Divine wisdom emanates from the divine Source, always there, ready and available when the heart attunes to its voice. Unfortunately, the ego-mind runs interference to preclude souls from hearing what is said, which is why we ask you to go beyond your former beliefs and assumptions instead of clinging to what hasn’t served you well.  169

‘In the infinite field of consciousness,’ Eli said, ‘there are no secrets. The past is past; only the present has meaning. Often, secrets are just an attempt to avoid guilt and judgment. Our domain knows nothing of these since fear is the absence of love, so secrets can’t exist on higher planes; no more than darkness can exist in light.’ 202

Only those who open their eyes will find their way, as you did when you left the Lowlands. As you realise, it’s not required to know about each twist and turn along the trail since everyone has to discover their way further in and further up.
‘When your heart told you there was a Mountain out there, you had no proof of where it was or if it even existed. You only had sporadic visions. To your credit, you stepped out in faith, not realising you would eventually find new heights that would eventually take you to the stars!’ 227

________________

‘Think about it this way: the view from the Summit is always far more expansive and encompassing than what can be seen from below. That changes the perspective on everything, including all the women who walked out on you. Even while you remained in the Lowlands, love inspired you to find what might lie beyond.
‘It caused you to raise your head to see past the obfuscating fog and allowed you to sidestep the muddy ruts on your way out of the Lowlands. Then, as you ascended the Mountain, life became truly exhilarating, where you could view what could never be seen below in the fog. When you scaled the steep precipices, you began to witness vast expanses instead of only fragmented patches in the Lowlands.’

‘James,’ Mo said, ‘if you say love is a trap, then I doubt if you understand the first thing about love.
‘Of course I do… sort of.’
‘Actually, I don’t think you know as much as you may think. Realise it’s fear, not love, that keeps you trapped. It’s love that sets you free. Though you haven’t discovered this for yourself yet, when you do, you will stand firm, a conqueror.’ 230

‘What many think will make them happy often causes them to be the most unhappy as they look to where it can never be found outward. However, since happiness is an inward quality, it must first be found within the heart before it can be outwardly experienced.’ 231

‘In fact, all conflicts are symptoms of inward fear and alienation. As we’ve often said, that’s why so few know who they are. And as long as they don’t care to know, they never will, especially when they listen only to those equally lost. Too often, these are the voices everyone wants to listen to. There are many voices we can choose to listen to, both within and without.

‘However, stay away from any voice that speaks of fear; there’s only one Voice that speaks peace to the heart. For those who have ears to hear, it is the divine Voice. Only by silencing the voices of fear will you become the conqueror you are destined to be. More than you know, the Voice has called you in many ways: at times difficult, at times pleasant, though always as needed. And now, you are being called.’ 232

                         BOOK TWO: THE SUMMIT

‘Is poetry not the most rarefied form of communication,’ Mo asked, ‘where visual images express the inward richness of the heart far beyond the ability of cognitive processes? So why not regard dreams as the poetry of the soul?
‘Perhaps that’s why Socrates suggested poets are the interpreters of the gods. Notice, he didn’t say philosophers; he said poets… universal meanings are often enfolded within rich imagery, such as found in your dream, evoking what’s hidden within the subliminal recesses of the soul.’ 17

We’re not vandals; we don’t go around doing this for fun, except in your case. So now, when you return home, we hope you will stand in the way to push over whatever carts remain stuck in the Lowlands’ muddy ruts by asking questions when no one else will. Each answer must lead to new questions, and if it doesn’t, the cartwheels become mired in the ruts of smug satisfaction and no one gets fed. Then, the rot of hubris sets in, spoiling everything around it. 18

‘Fear is what the ego is all about. It cares not for love except to exploit it for its advantage. The ego’s biggest concern is unconditional love. Nothing better vanquishes fear than light dissipating darkness. When you understand this, you will see why humanity identifies so much with failure and victimhood, lashing out when it loses sight of its divine light.

‘Recall what Russian esoteric philosopher G.I. Gurdjieff said: the last thing humanity wishes to give up is its suffering. This unfortunate propensity has a way of inflicting a variety of delusions upon those who cling to how special they feel while indulging in victimhood. After all, it’s familiar and even comfortable, in a sick sort of way. Problems are always, and inevitably, perceived as someone else’s fault. When we look at the world, it’s obvious how right Gurdjieff was about this.’ 19

‘Well, if you wish to know,’ Eli chuckled, ‘according to playwright Henry Miller, sex is one of the nine reasons for reincarnation...the other eight are unimportant.

Apart from that astute observation, it’s easier to comprehend the nature of incarnation when you understand that conscious awareness is divisible, even while our divine consciousness remains inherently whole. Though each soul remains individuated in self-awareness, it remains part of a greater whole, which is also one with a greater whole, even to the Infinite Source.’ 22

‘Many ancient Greek philosophers spoke of how souls must first drink from The Lethe, the River of Forgetfulness, before incarnating. Lethe is a metaphor for the amnesia required to prevent souls from remembering whatever held them back in their previous lifetimes. That way, they don’t have to carry these patterns into the next cycle with whatever encumbered them in their past, though many do because of their lack of consciousness. 23

What then to do about karma? Notwithstanding what my friend had to say, it remained unresolved in my mind. Wasn’t life a consequence of choices made, both good and not-so-good? In the past, few in my world considered karma a reality, likely because the idea was too Eastern or metaphysical for traditions based on Judeo-Christian sensibilities. Regardless, the adage you reap what you sow sounded like karma to me. It’s not that philosophers are expected to have all the answers; we need only ask clever questions for others to answer. That way, all we have to do is ask more questions without going out on a limb; as the old song goes, Nice work if you can get it! 25

‘Suppose,’ he said, ‘the physical body is just one dense expression of the over-soul incarnating on earth or somewhere else in the universe. The soul is also layered with several other multidimensional bodies, often referred to by various names, particularly in the East.

‘Now, consider the soul as a stream separating from the river to go its way, yet, in essence, it remains one with its source, the river, at all points in what we experience as linear time. Even as it goes its separate way, its essence remains part of the river’s water, just as the water’s essence remains contained within the part. The water remains water, regardless of how many streams flow in or out of the river. By this, the union is never compromised while diversifying into what is perceived as expanded identities of individuated streams.’ 27

All singularities remain united, enriched by the other’s unique experiences and qualities, ultimately residing in the Source. Mo often stated and restated how everything in the subatomic world is entangled as one in the divine vortex of the infinite void, where all that could be created is created. The paradox is that this void isn’t a void in the way we may think of a void; instead, it’s the inverse of emptiness, the infinite potentiality enfolded in the implicate order of the unmanifested universe of nothingness. From within this spiritual essence emerges the reality of explicate order; yet we’re all entwined in the implicate universe, and we are individuated expressions in the explicate universe of manifested forms. 27

‘Souls must re-enter the Absolute from whence they have emerged. But to accomplish this end, they must develop the perfections, the germ of which is planted in them. And if they have not developed these traits in this one life, then they must commence another, a third, and so forth. They must go on like this until they acquire the condition to join again with the Creator.’ (The Zohar, of the Jewish Kabbalah). 30

Contrary to how we might experience time, they said, each life on earth is only a flash in the pan to help us progress and expand our souls towards our Infinite Source. That’s why difficult lifetimes are exceptional windows of opportunity to overcome whatever has us bogged down in the limitations of the past. What we gain after is a fresh understanding and perspective of what’s not always obvious. 31

________________

‘Listen to yourself, James. I just heard you say, I fear I may fail. Don’t you realise that fear and failure are always a vibratory match? That’s why you struggle; it’s because you fear failure. What has ruled most of your life hasn’t been love; instead, it's the opposite: fear. Perhaps that’s why you can’t experience a real loving relationship; no more than you can find fulfilment in teaching philosophy. If you can’t experience love in your relationships and have no passion for your career, might it not be that you fear you will fail in them both? Remember, we receive what we give our attention to. No one struggles in love, only in fear.

‘That’s why you need to learn what unconditional love means; otherwise, you will continue to fail to find what you seek. My advice is to let your failures be your back door to success. More often than not, it’s the only door to get where you wish to be. So, embrace your perceived failures as opportunities leading you forward. 36

________________

‘Just as you failed to make it up here in your physical body, you also failed to make it down. These so-called failures were necessary to guide you where you wouldn’t have otherwise gone. Even the romantic relationships you assumed were failures will provide you with the contrast you need to find the woman you seek. As we’ve stated repeatedly, light can only be understood when darkness offers a contrast to luminosity. Likewise, fear has no reality, only the absence of love.’ 37

________________

‘Teleporting across the world may seem impossible to the uninitiated until it’s understood that everything is a form of conscious energy, especially the body. Be it the density of physical mass or the lightness of the spirit body, it’s all the same; only the expressions are different. God didn’t build different silos, one for spirit and one for matter. The only differences are octaves contained in the infinite silo of reality.’ 42

________________

‘From our lofty perspective,’ Mo said, ‘few on earth have come close to getting this right, not even the religious-minded, although some have it more right than wrong. Only those who unite their minds with their hearts can understand how reality manifests from thoughts. Even among the enlightened, it’s a rarity.

‘Understand that form never takes form of its own accord; instead, it manifests as an in-formed expression of consciousness, whether individual or collective. In other words, your form is an outward projection of divine consciousness, the only kind there is, regardless of which dimension the soul exists.’ 44

________________

‘Now, to expand on this, imagine this eternal beam of pure light proceeding from the Source outside time and space. As it does so, it passes through filters of lower dimensions, diffusing and assimilating into each new atmospheric plane. The ray’s filaments reach down into the lower regions of the multiverses without being compromised, even when the recipients distort, twist, and obfuscate the divine essence. 46

________________

‘Devolution can and does occur,’ Eli said, continuing, ‘whenever the world chooses a state of separation instead of union with the Source, the lifeline to conscious evolution. This condition is depicted in the archetype of the fall in the Creation myths, as illustrated in William Blake’s epic poems Songs of Innocence and Songs of Experience.

‘In this, Blake illustrates humanity’s fall from innocence to be immersed in the fires of experience before regaining its innocence in a higher state of awareness. These stages could be summarised as Innocence, Experience, and Higher Innocence, meaning the soul can only receive and assimilate its higher innocence after being progressively tested and tempered through contrasting experiences. Eventually, humanity will evolve into this higher order he calls Higher Innocence based on love, not fear.’ 47

‘Observe the legions of ideological movements based on fear and deceit. Notice how their zealots demand everyone think and believe as they do. Then, when these ideologues recognise that what they say isn’t true, they become increasingly defensive and strident when their propaganda is disregarded. Still, they demand to be taken seriously, lest they be exposed for who and what they are.

‘That’s why fear and anger often go together. For the ego-mind, there’s nothing more enraging than its contrived fears being dismissed. Talk to any doomsayer, and this soon becomes apparent; they’re never content until everyone else wrings their hands in fear… that’s how they derive and sustain power.’ 48

________________

‘So, are you trying to tell me that matter doesn’t matter?’ I asked, wishing to take Mo in a less political direction.

‘If I may, please allow me to respond to that,’ Eli said. ‘Matter does matter, but when we think of it as something inert, existing separate from spirit, we banish ourselves from Eden’s Garden. Every molecule of your spirit body may seem to express material physicality, but it exists in a higher vibratory octave than your dense mortal body; consequently, it has none of its biological limitations. Likewise, every molecule of your physical body emanates from spiritual energy, coalescing in a lower Earth plane octave, yet at the Source, all is One.’ 52

‘I’ve had days when I wondered what my purpose was on earth; in fact, I think most do… no big deal, that’s just how it is. Eventually, we find our way.’

‘If that were true and everyone found their path,’ Mo said, ‘they would know they are immortal gods woven into the infinite tapestry of the multiverse instead of the wretches many consider themselves to be. When souls believe they are lost fragments in a meaningless world, they behave accordingly, treating others without dignity or respect.’ 56

‘You may be surprised by how many close relationships you’ve accumulated over the ages, finding you’re a more popular bloke than you realised. As might be expected, your closest affinities will be among those with whom you share these affections. You may visualise this as standing in the centre of a series of concentric rings that spread outward like ripples in a pond. Every relationship exists in proximity to those we are most inwardly attracted, much as you may desire on earth yet seldom experience.’ 65

‘Ultimately, destiny is a choice,’ Eli said. ‘Without freedom, love would have no meaning. The higher you calibrate on the scale of conscious awareness, the more you are aware of your freedom. Though your body, in its current state, may seem incarcerated, your soul can never be imprisoned within the body since your spirit has no chains or boundaries, as should now be evident.’ 65

‘Only junk science claims things are settled… but only when it supports its political, corporate and ideological ends, demanding everyone interpret things as they prefer instead of how things are. However, as former beliefs are called into question, I suspect science will become even less settled in the future, including assumptions of space, time, and the non-orbital atom. You may have heard that Einstein had problems with the quantum interpretations Bohr and his colleagues advocated. He wished to believe things were settled and was reluctant to be jolted out of the third dimension. 69

‘When life is interpreted as being out there, it must be understood as what began from what’s in there. Empirical science has failed to appreciate this and wrongfully assumed life is nothing more than a third-dimensional read-out of external appearances. And yet, what’s going on in the substratum of the subatomic universe is far more than what the scientific method can begin to comprehend or explain.’ 72

‘All we can do is help you experience a significantly higher plane of consciousness. Then, one day, you will create whatever paradise your soul projects, expressing how far you have ascended. Until then, there’s not much more that can be demonstrated from this middle zone. Regardless, I’m sure you’re already beginning to sense the inherent elasticity of space-time perception.’

‘I can tell something is different, although it’s difficult to put into words.’

‘That’s what metaphors are for. As you enter higher realms of existence, you will view reality through new telescopes; however, there’s no need for equipment when what’s out there remains enfolded within you… your unobstructed universe. That’s why what’s out there has everything to do with what’s in there. 76

‘You mean, knowing who I am? I don’t know, maybe I’m nobody.’

‘Your ego-mind is the nobody,’ Eli said, ‘even if it likes to think it’s somebody that presumes to be you. As we often say, you’re not alone with this; all humanity struggles with its ego-mind. It is nothing unless you choose to believe it is something more… since believing seems to make it so.’ 76

‘The only way the mind can find its bearings is when it cooperates with the heart. Without doing that, it has no internal guidance system. Until then, it carries on aimlessly, thinking whatever it thinks without discernment or discrimination. Without the heart’s moral compass and inner knowingness, it uses whatever ruse it can rather than admit it’s lost.’ 88

Enlightenment is not a constant state; consider it more of a process of taking on more of our divine essence. As we’ve often said, it’s only necessary to open the inner portals of the heart since that’s where it all starts. From there, divine light shines into the mind.’ 91

As things often go, the roles between religion and science over the centuries gradually swung in the other direction. That’s why many refuse to admit to the existence of anything that transcends mechanistic perspectives and beliefs. Rather than allow for what might exist outside their exclusivist-reductionist holon, they shut down all debate.’

‘Such stifling close-mindedness,’ Mo said, ‘results from dismissing the source of their being. It’s also why they are so eager to condemn anything outside their purview as being pseudoscientific and, therefore, untrue. As I often say, the greater the smugness, the greater the ignorance, which is why the Flatlands remain so flat, becoming more so all the time.’ 108

Humanity’s experience is derived from the spirit’s essence intersecting with the earth’s material plane. The higher frequencies of spirit contain and mould the material plane, not the other way around, as most of your humanists and anthropologists wish to believe. As above, so below.’ 118

‘After the acorn germinates and the tree begins to take root,’ Mo said, ‘the seed returns to the elements, having served its purpose by preserving the tree’s latent conatus long before it materialises into form. So, it is with the seed of your immortal body… which is why, when you pass, you will continue to grow and develop into an eternal oak.’ 118

Emanuel Swedenborg pronounced: This I can declare, things that are in heaven are more real than things in the world. However, he didn’t imply that denser means more real, only what subsides in eternal essence. Only that is real.’
‘Yes, I remember you quoted that before. But still, how do you define real?’   ‘Look at it this way,’ Mo said, ‘whatever is considered best in your world is only a precursor for what will later be perceived in its authenticity. So, when the veil is lifted, essence takes form, manifesting in accordance with its nature. As you now realise, much of life on earth is upside down, inside out and backwards.’ 138

‘Needless to say, certain sounds, frequencies and depictions, when conjoined with lower calibrations, are only found in lower strata of spiritual reality. No matter where we exist, we continue to manifest whatever gives expression to our consciousness.  Whatever we’re consociated with is what we experience, be it heaven or hell. Which explains why,’ Mo said, ‘the potential for manifesting new creations remains as endless and expansive as one’s imagination, which has no limits. As Rousseau stated, the world of reality has its limits; the world of imagination is boundless. Even when the world imposes limitations on our perceptions of reality, such as with the speed of light, there are no limitations in Elysium, where perception remains as boundless as the imagination. 140

And so, they have a plethora of ideas to draw on, many of which were conceived on Earth in their previous lifetime but not implemented due to economic constraints. In Elysium, they can let it rip, much to the delight of the new occupants.’ 142

‘As I’ve often said, what unites the cosmos is love, the Source-essence of the universe some call God. Since love can only exist in the dynamic of relationships, we, too, are the glue of existence. ‘When you finally arrive in Elysium,’ Mo said, ‘I’m sure you will find your life to be incomparably more than you could have ever imagined. At least it was for me. Your essence-being will draw others to the same soul frequency, such that you feel everyone is your soul mate, yet with personalities even more richly diverse than on Earth.’ 147

‘All hierarchies of vertical ranking are integral to the horizontal heterarchy of community. These self-organising principles of hierarchy and heterarchy can sometimes be found in the world, yet only in Elysium does perfect equilibrium exist between vertical and horizontal dimensions. The cross of Yeshua’s crucifixion is recognised as being emblematic of this universal integration.
‘What I’m suggesting, James, is that there is no top-down hierarchical power structure imposed on other levels as you might find in your world and work environment. There would be no point since everyone can do as they wish in Elysium, although, as on Earth, consequences follow actions.’ 149

‘Since we’re all creators, the hells will continue to exist as long as souls identify what is contrary to the essence of their being. Whatever is not in accord with divine love and wisdom attracts the consequence of their moribund affections. Perhaps it’s what some wish to experience to appreciate the ecstasy of Elysium more fully at a later date.’

‘That sounds a bit extreme.’

‘So it might seem,’ Mo said, ‘yet that’s what happens when souls willfully align themselves with whatever causes life to be experienced in darkness, as we often witness on earth. Again, such distortions bring contrast to what’s real and true. Now, do you understand why the world is as it is?’ 155

‘Yet, from what we can tell,’ Eli said, ‘after several millennia of dark, illusory nights, these forces are now being countermanded by multitudes of advanced souls consociating with Elysées. This planet could still use more awakened souls to bring light to darkness and love to fear. Each new candle flickering in the dark is a flame that can become a torch to illuminate the world.’ 155

‘As we’ve often said, learning is of the mind, while discovery is of the heart. Learning is about assimilating external information that may or may not be truthful, whereas discovery engages the heart by accessing the divine wisdom that lies hidden within… which is why we can learn through discovery but not discover through learning. Discovery is far more than learning since it’s transformative. It provides the soul with what is significantly richer, deeper and more complete than what mere information can ever offer.’ 166

‘The most basic ontological questions aren’t even being raised,’ Mo said, ‘which explains why they aren’t being answered. Consequently, science has no basis for understanding that consciousness undergirds physiological expression. As I said, this is why the world needs an uncompromising, clear-minded, take-no-prisoners philosopher to step up… someone like Socrates who’s not afraid to challenge intellectual ineptitude. We think that’s you, James… how about it; do you think you’re man enough?’ 175

‘‘… he sees a dearth of intellectual integrity as witnessed in the proliferation of junk science that flagrantly distorts the facts to achieve dubious monetary ends. If politicians can be bought off, so can scientists. It’s more common than you might expect since institutions often become beholden to large corporations and government grants to promote their political agendas. In fact, it seems almost anything can be proven and rationalised with enough selective data thrown at it. Sadly, in this era of relativism and skewed computer modelling, too few wish or care to know the truth when avant-garde causes and beliefs become regarded as the sole criteria for what’s intellectually and morally acceptable.’ 176

By falling, you catapulted yourself up…  as we discussed not long ago, some of life’s highest Summits can only be reached by descending into the lowest abyss… it only makes sense. As one writer put it, You must always, in anything, plumb the depths before you are permitted to go on to the heights.[1] For you, this was most literally the case.’ 194

'In whatever dimension they’re experienced, space and time remain mental constructs of duration and distance. Impressions are the frequencies with which the observer consciously focuses upon within their self-awareness, or, we may say, the relationship of the perceiver to the perceived. In fact, everything experienced in time and space is a relational flow since everything that is or can be is entangled within the union of all relationships contained in the Source. And isn’t it interesting that the word entanglement has become central to the vocabulary of quantum mechanics? 196

Remember what Nietzsche wrote,’ Eli said. Of all that is written, I love only what a man has written with his own blood. Except for the most cynical, it will be obvious that your story was written not in your head but with the blood spilt on the rocks below. If you can compose all you will have learned and discovered here, one day, you might be regarded as the next Alfred North Whitehead. He was only guessing, but you will be telling.’ 224

Though I was outwardly rational, I realised that my ego-mind was running the show on personal matters, often causing me to lash out in confusion. Whenever you’re not too focused on other concerns, your inner eye may catch a glimpse of your divine Self. It’s not a case of knowing about; rather, it’s awakening to knowing the essence of what you are within… the gnosis of divine emergence. In other words, knowing who you are as both the knower and the known. Or, as some mystics teach, to know the knower.’

‘There’s always more going on in the universe since there’s far more to the divine mystery than we are capable of understanding, no matter how high we ascend Jacob’s ladder. Your Mountain might be considered an allegory to help understand this infinite Ray of Creation we discussed that points the soul towards its divine Source.’

‘When you reunite with the fall guy,’ Eli said, ‘it will be vital that you remember this Mountain metaphor as you navigate through Flatlands’ dense mists below. These symbols are for your spiritual ascension, so you will no longer fall into the abyss of fear.’ 14

‘The problem is, James, you’re not a simple man, and so your sceptical mind often overthinks things out of being. But to manifest energy into form, you must envisage it in your mind since that’s where the creative force resides and how great nations come into being. Understand, this is not just another metaphysical discussion of abstruse esoterica; it’s how things happen, be it messages to Julianne or spectacular discoveries. Life might be much simpler if you could accept what’s self-evident without first needing to figure things out. But that never seems good enough for sceptics who seem to think it’s necessary to understand the reason for everything. 31

‘Another reason to remain centred in your heart more and less in your mind, Eli said, ‘after all, they are mutually compatible. As we often say, the heart is the divine connection, which is why you might still feel a connection to Julianne, regardless of where you end up after your return. 39

‘Whether you realise it or not, you’re constantly being led towards what’s highest and best, even when you don’t follow the leading. Then, one day, you’ll rediscover all you experienced here, be it on Earth or in Elysium, such that whatever new facets of character you have developed and honed while in this dimension, including all the knowledge you have acquired, will remain part of who you are and what you’ve become. So, take your time if you wish; we’re all in this together with you.’ 41

‘The dark side of human nature will avoid, deny, and even attack anyone and anything that dares to challenge its cherished beliefs of the ego mind. It will even forgo what might be in its host's best interests, since it has no lasting investment in love, union, or happiness. Some even call this the pain body since its illusions depend on provoking fear and conflict wherever it can.’ 46

‘At first, you might try to convince yourself that your brain was merely dreaming without being aware that you were fully conscious. But that’s not much different from the world’s Flatlanders believing they are conscious when they’re actually dreaming.’

‘I’m sure most of these Flatlanders, as you call them, would be offended by such a statement.’

‘No doubt they would,’ Mo said, ‘having convinced themselves they are the awoken because they are the most educated. Yet, Flatlanders sleep the most deeply when they think they’re most awake and behave most irrationally while being clever. For this reason, it’s waking that understands sleep, not sleep that understands waking.’ 47

‘From Elysium’s perspective,’ Mo said, 'matter is a malleable mental construct. As we mentioned earlier, your renowned physicist, Max Planck, stated, ‘Mind is the matrix of all matter.’ It’s one of the most profound statements ever proffered by a physicist on the relationship between mind and matter. However, what your world regards as substance turns out to be a material readout of the hidden spiritual reality. That much Plato understood, which is why the world’s materialists like to ridicule him. Yet the truths he spoke of in his cave allegory about shadows are evident to everyone who shares Elysium’s perspective.

‘This is why we speak of the world not as separate but as one with the spiritual Source. Perceptions of materiality are actually electromagnetic patterns derived from the inward plane. As within, so without....’ 52

I’m no poet, but isn’t poetry about taking us to rarefied realms of appreciation, transcending what we see and hear with our senses to quicken our imagination to perceive within what our eyes have overlooked without?’

‘You make a good point,’ Mo said. ‘Certainly, exquisite poetry can be very helpful in crafting descriptions that open the windows of the soul. Though it has its limitations, it may paint wonderful pictures for the mind’s eye; nevertheless, wonderful is not wonderment. Well-chosen words might evoke the imagination, enhancing senses that might have been overlooked, but words only carry meaning when they describe what has been experienced. Otherwise, they are simply sentiments or images, as Sir Francis Bacon succinctly stated: Words are images of matter; to fall in love with them is to fall in love with a picture. 72

Though you have observed much on your ascent, you must ascend to higher vistas to be captivated by the mysteries that still lie ahead. 72

‘It’s like I’m on the wrong side of the door while a raucous party is going on with music playing, revellers dancing, and women laughing with men talking over each other. And yet that’s where I find myself, standing in the dark, wondering why no one unlocks that damned door so I can join in celebrating whatever they’re celebrating?’

‘I’m sure when you’re ready, you will eventually find your way there,’ Eli said, ‘even if you have to grope your way to the door of the Great Hall leading to Elysium’s Passage.’

‘Before you are permitted to enter, however, you must first confront and slay the dragons lurking deep within, breathing their flames. Then, when you're ready, Aphrodite will show you the way after you have set your ego aside in silence.

It knows nothing of divine love and, therefore, has no place in the Great Hall of Elysium’s Passage, no more than darkness in the light. In the words of Søren Kierkegaard, only the person who is essentially capable of remaining silent is capable of speaking essentially.’ 74

‘What you think is what you are, as stated in the proverb: As a man thinks in his heart, so is he, or as it is sometimes said, we are what we think? You’ve taught Philosophy of Mind, so you should know thoughts don’t just happen, even when it seems they do. It’s a deep well down there. Thoughts emanate from a conscious frequency of either love or fear, giving or receiving, building up or tearing down, being esteemed or esteeming, serving or being served.’ 86

‘The higher cosmic realms are aggregations of rarefied truths that manifest within the specific octave of their holons, and, therefore, there is a great variety of perspectives based on their qualitative calibration. In principle, the Earth is no different; only that thoughts are experienced within the dense limitations of the third dimension, making it less easy to discern light from darkness, truth from falsehood. In contrast, thoughts in Elysium are enlightened by love, not fear.

‘Those who dwell in the light of the Spirit perceive things for what they truly are; however, those who deliberately distance themselves from the Light, whether consciously or unconsciously, project their reality from their soul's state of inner darkness, which manifests as distorted thought forms. These are distorted and insane illusions they have harboured on earth.’ 88

‘Mysteriously, each part holds the imprint of the whole within it, as graphically demonstrated when the complete holographic image appears in an isolated section of a hologram. In this way, each cell holds the information encrypted within the multi-dimensional quantum field of the DNA molecule, which the entire body instantly responds to. As an example of this interconnectivity,’ he continued, ‘we may examine the hologram of a human figurine and see the whole in any supposedly isolated part, even within a finger. In that sense, we may wish to consider the entire multiverse to be holographic. That’s because omnipresence can never be separate from the divine energy extended to all creation through whatever forms manifest and re-manifest for all eternity. Not even the human ego-mind can remain isolated from its Source, though it.’ 95

On her nightstand was a thick blue book lying open with a yellow marker on top. The page said: What is Creation? One sentence was highlighted: For in creation is His Will complete in every aspect, making every part container of the whole. Beside the quote, she had scribbled a big question mark.

Most profound, Julianne! Every part container of the whole? That sounded much like the holon principle Mo and Eli explained to me, which describes the quantum nature of holographic reality, in which we observe the part in the whole and the whole in the part. This statement, however, was more than just philosophical; it implied that God’s will was implicit in all creation, rather than merely a statement about the nature of holons. 142

‘Yeshua could confidently say, Love your enemies by demonstrating what this meant. Many say that’s preposterous, and yet he understood this was possible because he continually existed in divine Light. That’s why he could pray, even while being tormented, Father, forgive them; they know not what they do.

‘Love knows only love and so can do no other than give expression to what it is… love. That’s what he came to reveal to humanity, and he did so most convincingly during the last day of his body’s mortal existence. By recognising his inward divinity, rather than the ego’s illusions, there can be no final judgement, only compassion for those who do wrong. In fact, this is what makes Elysées Elysées. Unconditional love can prevail in all relationships, which is why there is no need to forgive anyone except yourself, and even then, unconditionally. 149

________________

‘Are you referring to the Freudian concept of the id?’

‘Whatever Freud meant by that term, I’d prefer to describe it more graphically, if not candidly, as the separate, illusory self. We can’t see it, but we know what it does when it undermines relationships, and with that, any semblance of happiness. Lacking any connection to the heart, it can only superficially mimic genuine love. Like an echo, it is separated from its source, and like a shadow, it lacks substance. Such disconnection typifies much of humanity when it becomes alienated from the spark of its divine essence.’

‘Regrettably, this tendency pervades much of human history, often evident in the dystopia of tyrannical governance. If humankind understood what it forfeits by disregarding its connection to the greater whole, it would cease to seek fulfilment through the ego-self. In the absence of divine union, life becomes a mere echo of ego-derived illusions.’ 153

As we discussed earlier, whenever the mind isolates itself from the heart to go its own way, it finds it’s not as smart as it thinks it is. In fact, when the ego illusion takes over the mind and refuses to listen to the heart, the mind becomes increasingly confused and, ultimately, insane.’

‘Insane? Don’t you think, Eli, you might be slightly overstating things?’

‘Not really. For one thing, the insane mind doesn't recognise its insanity, but that’s when it becomes most insane. Remember, when relying solely on your mind, you may think you know, but you don’t... not really. Without experiencing the inward wisdom of the heart, the mind will draw inaccurate and distorted conclusions based on its egoic belief patterns. The mind and heart need to work together, or you will remain confused like the rest of your colleagues, who know little about the implicit mysteries of the heart. As stated in the book we gave you to read last week, Philosophy applies thought to mystery, and that is why philosophy becomes such a muddle of words.’ 155

‘The foundation of the universe is not matter; instead, it’s the emanation of Spirit from the Source. Unfortunately, your classic materialists not only neglect this fact, but remain openly hostile towards the subtle realm of consciousness, just as religion was once hostile to science not long ago. Unfortunately, too few recognise the necessity of having mutual regard for the other. Einstein once said, Science without religion is lame. Religion without science is blind.’ 202

‘Furthermore, how can anyone be conscious of consciousness when consciousness, under their terms of scientific reference, would have to step out of itself to examine itself objectively? Obviously, that can’t be done. Max Planck understood this when he said; I regard consciousness as fundamental and matter derivative from consciousness. Your world needs to listen to him; however, if they haven’t by now, they probably never will.’ 203

When we experience fear, it is not because our souls are inherently dark; rather, it stems from having closed ourselves off to the light, unnecessarily delaying our journey. The pain that results from this offers us contrast to rediscover the light; without it, we risk drifting further into darkness.

But, as they repeatedly emphasised, darkness has no real existence; only light exists. Darkness is not the opposite of light, but merely its absence, and the only way to dispel darkness is to open the door wide so the divine light can shine through. However, from my life experience, it seems not everyone is interested in recognising what becomes apparent in the light. Clearly, ignorance is an absence of truth, just as darkness is an absence of light. 250

                     BOOK FOUR: SURREAL ADVENTURES

Mo and Eli, however, insisted that until I could think and act from within the union of heart and mind, I would never have satisfactory relations with women or anyone else, for that matter. The separated mind, they said, is impervious to what can only be spiritually discerned, meaning it’s only when the heart joins with the mind that we can ever hope to know our Selves. True rationality must engage the heart; otherwise, the mind will remain lost and confused in itself. In other words, I could only assimilate truth while maintaining a wholehearted union within. 7

Contrary to appearances, nothing needs to be reconciled; there is no dualism of mind and matter, soul and body, or even separation of objects. There is only God, or if you prefer, Source, Spirit or Creator, from which all emanates, and remains entangled in this singular divine relationship. As Mo would sometimes say, we must allow ourselves to be apprehended by the divine instead of attempting to apprehend what remains beyond the soul’s apprehension. In this, I finally grasped that all reality is, in essence, spiritual, not material, and must be discerned accordingly. 10

I had to decide who and what I wasn’t. I recalled an earlier conversation we had about what Socrates said: The unexamined life is not worth living. I thought about this, then turned it around, writing in my journal: Forthwith, this examined life shall be worth living… hereinafter, shall I so live!’ That sounded good; now all I needed to do was… so live. I then saw a caterpillar crawling up my tree. Yes, I had been a caterpillar that remained in a cocoon for far too long, waiting for my metamorphosis into a free-flying butterfly, but now become what was always enfolded within me. 19

‘You will also witness many manifestations of your Earth, whether in the people, places, objects or events, all graphically exposed in glaring detail. Truth is truth, so, for illustration purposes, all perceptions in the Flatlands and Hill Country will be accentuated to appear all the more of what they are, glorious and inglorious. Rather than perceiving as you did in the past, your eyes will be illuminated to see beyond the surface of appearances, of what you couldn’t perceive when you lacked inward perception. Every blade of grass, if you focus, will glisten in the rays of your mind’s light, as you now experience the essence of everything. However, what deviates from the light of creation will be seen in the shadows of falsity.’ 30

‘Again, it’s about what’s within that is seen for what it is when outwardly projected. It really is like a movie, where you get to jump in from a front-row seat. However, you don’t need to reconcile what you observe with how you once perceived it, since you will see your world as it truly exists in its unfiltered essence. ‘To me, this all sounds like one big simulation.’

‘Indeed, but then isn’t all of life, simultaneously operating in untold densities and dimensions?’

‘I think you just opened a can of worms that I’d rather not look into.’

‘Not worms,’ he smiled, ‘wormholes… of infinite possibilities. 30

‘I still find it confusing how I could be participating in what isn’t even real while, all the time, I was. From what you’re saying, I think you're saying that, in essence, the virtual world is a composition of latent thought patterns of unmanifested reality.’

‘Yes, in a sense, that’s what they are… holographic thought patterns. Nevertheless, appearances are fleeting, as in the quantum field of subatomic physics, where cause and effect manifest as one. Again, I’m sure this will be easier for you to understand once we become immersed in these alternate dimensions. 31

I couldn’t be sure of what was real or unreal; all I knew was that our ship was sailing off towards some magical mystery where anything and everything might be possible. I soon realised that most of my concerns were meaningless, as reality is relative to the plane we're on, but I had no idea which one we were navigating. I chuckled to myself when I considered how this would give pause to some of the angst-ridden existential philosophers who could barely figure out how things worked on just the earth plane, let alone any others. 33

‘Where would demagogues be if they couldn’t impose their rules and beliefs on others? Yet those who possess true power don’t require force or deception; they only require truth. Yeshua had the greatest impact on humanity because his words and deeds were truthful.

‘For now, in your world’s planetary history, most tyrants remain safe since consciousness often remains too low for many humans to realise they’ve been duped. We’ll see that illustrated among the Groupthink elites in the Flatlands, who are obsessed with everyone’s thoughts remaining as shallow as theirs. That’s how the collective ego reacts; it’s always an existential threat to the ego when its beliefs are called into question.’ 35

‘If most understood the true nature of power, they would refuse to give it away. Once souls become inwardly enlightened, it’s only a matter of time until they become outwardly liberated, as your history has repeatedly demonstrated.’ 37

‘I believe you mentioned that you’re a big fan of George Berkeley, so you should understand that nothing that exists is external to the universal mind we all partake in, where everything is experienced. In your dreams, for instance, you might occasionally perceive amorphous images that shift, fade, disappear, and then reappear, revealing what lies beneath the surface of your waking state. This activity is evidence of your mind interpreting, then projecting its interpretations on the screen of your subconsciousness as you sleep. It might not always make sense, and maybe it’s not supposed to, at least until it does. 39

________________

‘As your Eastern mystics have always said, all is one. Remember, consciousness is a big tent, because in the end, that’s all there is. In your Western world, this is often referred to as psychic entwinement or a half-dozen other terms, while in physics it’s called quantum entanglement. Whatever you wish to call it, nothing remains separate or static since all that is, or can be, emanates from the One Source.

‘But when humans insist on believing they are compartmentalised in different brains and bodies, it’s difficult for them to understand that they exist in a unified field of consciousness. No wonder they keep spinning out of control, believing in separate minds to define their unhinged reality. 44

________________

‘I’d be pleased to have you present your argument to our esteemed intellectual community. However, I doubt if anyone would take you seriously.’

‘Probably not. In this inchoate stage of human evolution, ignorance will continue to prevail in many educated minds who seem to mistake intelligence for consciousness. Without divine intervention, it might take centuries, or even millennia, for humanity to embrace the truth. Most planets in the known cosmos went through this confusion long ago. 45

‘I think I know where you are going with this,’ I said. ‘One of Mo’s most repeated quotes: The heart has its reasons which reason knows nothing.’

‘That sums it up very well! Indeed, the mind’s flat reasoning can never comprehend the intuitive nature of the heart’s understanding. That’s why things inevitably get complicated when humans detach their minds from the mooring of their hearts. Then, nothing seems to make sense. I’m sure you often heard your friends on the mountain mention that the mind can never truly know what’s best when serving the ego instead of the heart. To do so is to choose separation, which inevitably leads to conflict and war, both within and without.’ 49

‘Still, I don’t understand; why would you go to all this trouble?
‘It’s no trouble at all. I occasionally make these forays into the dense wilds of lower frequencies to serve those who are open to what I have to say. There’s a universal spiritual principle that could hardly be more obvious… we can only receive what we give, and so we desire to give as we receive.
‘As I’m sure Mo and Eli mentioned, life is all about service. Wherever you go in the enlightened universe, that’s the big one. As cause and effect are aspects of one seamless act, so is giving and receiving understood to be the essence of service.’

‘So you’re saying this applies everywhere in the universe?’

‘That’s what I’m saying… except the dark side, where it's just the opposite. Think about it; is reciprocation not intrinsic to the very nature of relationships? 53

Although Flatlanders don’t always admit it, secretly, they believe they know more than other disciplines, preferring to view the world solely from their perspective rather than adopting an interdisciplinary approach. Not surprisingly, they think what they know, or believe they know, is all there is to be known, and so over time, they become even narrower, disregarding the importance of what others have to say. And that, my friend, is when the Renaissance began to wither and die on the dry sands of this flat desert. It’s one of the reasons why few engineers bother to read poetry, just as few poets study engineering, not that there are any poets here.’

‘Which is a shame,’ I said, ‘since each has a unique perspective to offer the other: the engineer’s form, the poet’s essence. As Eli often said, form and essence are not mutually exclusive but mutually inclusive.’ 66

‘Too quickly, Flatlanders become adults, no longer able to perceive what can only be seen with the eyes of innocence. As the saying goes, what they have chosen to see may cost them their vision.

‘‘That’s why Flatlanders have such difficulty understanding the nature of the universe. They have lost the capacity to discern what their inward eyes see outwardly. They see only parts, not the whole. For them, the sum of the parts is nothing more than the sum of the parts, and that’s it, so how can they accept the mystery of life when they can only understand the universe to be nothing more than an aggregation of parts? Since their awareness is limited to tangible objects that are at hand, they can only see, believe and understand the lowest possible frequency level, being the materialist bedrock of their flat linear perspective.’ 69

‘Obviously, it’s relationships that give life meaning. Everything in the universe exists in relationship, through which all meaning is derived and is entangled; a vertical archetype for all aspirations. Information alone will not satisfy the soul if it remains fragmentary. It needs to connect to the whole to have meaning, rather than be an accumulation of unrelated parts. 76

________________

‘Before relationships can become authentic, the mind needs to acknowledge its relationship with the heart. Until that happens, life is more about expediency than union. Where there is only a material understanding of life, such as in the Flatlands, alienation inevitably results, first within and then without, which is why it should be apparent that relationships are essentially spiritual, not material. Obviously, when materialism is the sole paradigm for life, whether capitalist or communist, the soul atrophies because it cannot be nourished by material things or, in the latter case, by the absence of things. But where the mind and heart unite, relationships thrive in wholeness.’ 76

________________

‘Are you saying relationships are what’s most real?’

‘Indeed, that’s what I’m saying, since they are what give meaning to everything, providing life with coherence, from each romantic encounter to each subatomic particle dancing in union within each molecule.

‘All in the multiverse remains entwined within the dynamics of infinite relationships. That’s what makes it real since the essence of God is love. 87

‘One glance at the Mountain’s transcendence would be enough for them to realise that reality is not reducible to a flat desert of unindividuated matter. That’s what the authorities are most concerned about. They don’t want anyone to see anything outside their linear reality; otherwise, they would lose control.’ 89

‘… most philosophers in the Flatlands didn’t understand him, having long abandoned their perches on the highest floors, losing their lofty perspective. Had they remained in their tower, this island might not have drifted so far off into the sea. As I’m sure you’re aware, there was a time when philosophy was considered the overseer of all disciplines. That’s when they had a vision of the Mountain’s transcendence. Now it’s different; they no longer wish to see what’s beyond their level, which is why philosophy has become so uninspiring.’ 94

‘That’s why,’ Rhom said, ‘it takes courage for free thinkers to stand up and state the truth of what should be obvious. Unfortunately, once spurious beliefs are entrained in human souls, it’s often difficult to dislodge these delusions until they have played out, often with disastrous consequences. Only heightened awareness can awaken Flatlanders out of their egoic slumber. It will take many brave souls to sound the trumpet, but as I said, one enlightened soul has far more influence than a million that sleep. 123

‘Truthful questions call for truthful answers, just as Socrates did. That’s what Flatlanders most fear. In the end, however, they must confront the questions they avoid. How else will they evolve into awareness, rather than pseudo-intelligence? That’s what I was doing in the forum, presenting them with the kind of questions that will help them recognise truth when it is presented. 124

‘If all you know is how to react to the dictates of your mind, then I must say, it must be wretched to remain in such an automated state of existence, but if you choose to believe this, you will never be able to respond to your soul's heights, depths, and breadth by discovering the expansiveness of who you are. And thereby, you shall remain just as flat and narrow as everyone else in your parochial universe. Therefore, it’s my opinion that denying the inherent freedom of one’s consciousness is to misunderstand the nature of one’s very being. This confusion almost invariably arises when the false presuppositions of reductionism and its materialist corollary become the dubious basis for understanding consciousness.’ 136

‘The problem is, most Flatlanders fear whatever winds might blow them off their circular reasoning, since that’s all they know and all they wish to know. As I’ve often said, they prefer to be safe rather than happy. That’s always the way it is with the ego. Also, if they stray too far off course, they may no longer be accepted in their community or, even worse, be banished from the island. 143

‘Does it not strike you as presumptuous to tell the world how life emerged when they don’t have the slightest inkling of what life is? That’s why the Forum speaker had no choice but to default to the notion of spontaneous generation. Of course, this is impossible to demonstrate since life is not material; instead, it’s that which animates the material. Nevertheless, scientism has created the discipline of abiogenesis to give scientific credibility to its sophistries. 155

‘I understood that Socrates stated that the unexamined life is not worth living. Though I had been carefully examined before being awarded my doctorate, I had never learned how to find who I was. I doubt many of my colleagues knew what this meant either, since that’s hardly the kind of thing we sat around discussing, even though it should have been foundational to our bailiwick. 188

‘Each cosmos provides the soul with an opportunity to encounter a variety of trials and resistances to temper, test and meld each soul into greater wholeness. That’s how your latent divinity is unleashed into greater fullness of being. Do you now understand why life seems so hard at times? Until life teaches the separate ego-mind to filter its thoughts through the heart, it will remain lost and confused. At some point, however, every soul eventually comes around. I think that’s where you are now.’

‘So, you’re saying I asked for it.’

‘Indeed, you did, whether you’re aware of it or not, although there’s no reason to feel sorry for yourself; you wanted this growth spurt, so you got it, just as I suspect you will continue to receive challenges while you remain on Earth. Nevertheless, as you live your authentic Self – the real you, the world will become a better place for your having been here.’ 208

If you don’t remember this, the equation will have no more lasting value than it being washed away by the surf.’ 208

‘Clever words, and yet how does that help us?’

‘Because, wherever you go, in whatever dimension, you always remain in the centre of where you’re meant to be. And, where you’re meant to be is further...’
‘Yes, of course, as they say on the summit… further in, further up.’

‘It may not seem like you’re further up when it seems you’re further down; nevertheless, as with your fall into the abyss… that was your way of moving further up to your life’s new Summit. Sometimes, it’s necessary to descend further down so we might learn what’s required to ascend further up. 208

‘I suppose we have to go through the process of discovering the contrast of the enlightened mind and that of the separate ego-mind, which can be as stupid as it is painful. Unfortunately, it seems this is the only way we can learn what should be intuitively understood.’ 210

‘But it’s not just about your planet; this state exists throughout the universe, in varying degrees. As conscious beings set their affections on the illusory offerings of their ego, they will remain consumed by their willful ignorance.’
‘If that’s the case, there must be something profoundly wrong in the cosmos?’
‘Not really. It’s just part of the maturation process that unfolds across infinite multiverses. Until each soul discovers wholeness in their Source, they will continue to suffer the consequences of separation.

‘The ego twists in the joy of its pain and misery because that’s the only way it can experience its illusory existence. When beings finally awaken, they can become who they truly are: gods in service to others throughout the universe, still awakening to their own divinity.’ 289

      BOOK FIVE: MYSTICAL ROMANCE

Slowly, I took a few steps onto a stone ledge overlooking a vast cavern far more massive than I had ever seen. Before me was a large assembly of hundreds of beings dressed for what could have been a formal Viennese ball. Considering where we were, it could hardly have been less believable. In the aether were timbers and tones I had never heard before, harmonious and mesmerising… the music of the spheres I heard spoken of in poetry, yet never heard. I can only describe the scene before me as a phantasmagoria of extraordinary sensory impressions. 6

‘You have had many names over the centuries, but the divine light of Adam Kadman is in us all, which is why awakening to it was your finest accomplishment, revealing your true Adamic essence. You prepared yourself to become who you are, though you didn’t realise it until you entered the cave to follow the light. Even after falling into your sepulchre of darkness, you still rose to follow where the light led. 15

‘Ah, I was wondering where this luminescence emanated from… like nothing I’ve ever experienced except on the surreal seas with Rhom. At times, it seems to pulsate to the sounds of, as I call it, the music of the spheres. It's very otherworldly.
‘Perhaps because light and sound are but different emanations of the same divine source. And though you can’t perceive the flaming Seraphim, you have nothing to be concerned about since they are on your side and always have been. By their projections, you were drawn here to this, your special Magic Mountain.
‘I must say, that was some light show at the cave entrance – how could I have resisted?

‘Unbeknownst to you,’ Eli said, ‘it was the light of their divine Presence that guided you through the cave’s darkness, albeit significantly dimmed to help you discover your inner light in what seemed a tomb of your fears. Now, you can access all the light you need, having discovered where it resides in the essence of your divine resplendent.’ 17

‘No matter who we might have been or what we might have done in our past,’ Nikolas said, ‘unity exists among everyone in Elysium, even those you may have once considered enemies. In times of war, enemies often kill each other because they’re required to do so. But in Elysium, all is forgotten as we all meld as one in happy communion.’

‘No grudges?’

‘You’re always as happy or miserable as you want to be,’ he said, ‘whether in heaven or on earth. Not surprisingly, it depends on where we cohere on the spectrum of consciousness… everything flows out of consciousness because that’s what we are. Again, there are innumerable communities since no one wishes to be in disharmony with those that don’t resonate within the same field of awareness.’

‘So then, would you say there exist areas we might describe as hell, reflecting the unfortunate state of the beings who choose to dwell there?’
‘Well, yes, we might say that, since they don’t seem to know any better. Until they decide to evolve into a higher state of consciousness, these unfortunate souls would rather inflict suffering on themselves and others, just as they did on earth. It’s the inverse of Elysium, where everyone is in joyful service to others. 22

I had no idea what time it was or how long things had been going on, yet in this eternal moment, the notion of time didn’t exist for me. So many things were happening in this elasticity of orphic time. It didn’t matter; the celebration felt like my altered life on the summit, only a much higher social vibe similar to my surreal encounters on the islands. At times, it felt like a dream, except I knew this existence was no dream; it was my new, multidimensional reality, as objectively real as anything I had experienced back home in the third dimension. 23

‘From what they were saying, everything in the constellations is constantly in flux, evolving from darkness to light, and sometimes back again. Really far-out stuff, I thought; Star Wars had nothing on them. I wondered if these strategic forces might someday return to rescue our world from itself.

Then I heard someone say that help was not only on the way, but was already here, just waiting for human consciousness to rise sufficiently to activate the dormant, multidimensional strands within the DNA. Before that could happen, however, someone said a universal purge was necessary to make room for the gamma photon light codes from the sun. 24

With a wry grin, he replied, ‘Surely, you don’t think your Captain came to earth for just the rum, do you?’

‘No, not really; I suspect he also came here to assist me in navigating my life on land and sea, as he will again in your future deployment in the stars. Though much evil has occurred on your beautiful planet over the millennia, it may take only a decade or two to uproot this rot if consciousness sufficiently expands for your planet to ascend to the fifth dimension and beyond.

‘As I said, it all comes down to the resolve of humanity and the commitment of future light warriors to show the way. At this time, most in your world have no idea how much their conscious awareness has been subverted by fear. Unfortunately, you can expect plenty of challenges ahead from more dark forces who, with impunity, infiltrate all areas of leadership, including politics, corporations, academia, medicine, entertainment, religion, media, and other sectors to get the masses to comply with their deceit. For them, control is everything. 33

As our conversation continued, I later asked him whether his spacecraft was responsible for all the crop circles appearing throughout the world. And if so, were they just doodling while waiting for humanity to enlighten itself? Considering who I was talking to, I wondered if that might be a bit cheeky, but of course, I did anyway.’

‘Thanks for noticing,’ he said, ‘few wish to acknowledge the obvious geometric coding, though it’s in plain sight. In fact, we’ve been inscribing cosmic patterns into your globe for millennia, including exotic rock inscriptions that can still be detected on some of your leylines to this day, raising Earth’s frequency.

‘Unfortunately, the prevailing consciousness in your world is afraid to ask such inconvenient questions, much less hazard an answer, especially among your scientists who know they have no answers. And so this gift we have offered to humanity remains ignored.

‘Recognise how sacred geometry evokes an energetic emanation few are aware of, even among the enlightened. That’s your clue. Regardless, a new quantum matrix is being prepared to ground higher electromagnetic fields of interdimensional frequencies in the earth for all who are receptive to the new galactic order.’

As he continued to explain the designs, I was astonished to hear how their geometric graffiti was nothing less than cosmic blueprints for encrypting crystalline energetic fields into the earth. 34

‘Nothing is more elusive in the universe than grasping what consciousness is,’ he said, ‘even though there is nothing more ubiquitous.

‘After examining this question for years, I was no further ahead in explaining what it was than the scientific community, which suggested that consciousness was nothing more than an effect of the brain's epiphenomenal neural processes. Yet that was never very satisfying, nor, as I was to find out, was it correct.

‘I could never establish a causal connection between the brain and mentation because consciousness always remained a priori to the brain’s neural operations, which is to say that synaptic activity occurs by consciousness, not the brain processes that we all believed to precede consciousness.

‘In the end, I had to accept that what was essential to life would remain a shadowy mystery, leaving me mystified as to what consciousness was and from whence it might arise. To this day, it seems science knows practically nothing about these questions because it insists on approaching everything from a materialist direction. It was not until I arrived on this side of this opaque veil that I understood the intrinsic nature of consciousness as being the essence of our divine Source. 35

‘The peer review process has its place, although it is often used to insulate those with vested interests from being challenged. Unfortunately, few dare to ask provocative questions about mind, matter and spirit lest they be rebuked and censured. They say that man is the measure of all things. Except he’s not.
‘Your adversaries will no longer feel so smug and sure when you ask the inconvenient questions, such as Robespierre did before encountering the guillotine. Outside their purview, they lack credible answers and have nowhere to hide their ignorance except with more bluster.’ 66

‘If you were listening to our mentors at Summit U, you would remember we’re all fragments of the Source refracted into innumerable souls. Just like flames of the same fire, we’re all of the same divine essence, while having individuated life experiences. That’s because consciousness has no limits and can therefore focus on more than one thing at a time, while simultaneously being embodied in varying dimensions, while remaining one soul.’ 69

‘See the soul’s identity as a little eddy of self-awareness contained in the infinite ocean of multidimensional consciousness we are entangled in. Or, as Rumi, the Persian poet, expressed this epiphany, you are not a drop in the ocean. You are the ocean in a drop.’

‘I suppose that might have some metaphoric merits,’ I said, ‘yet hardly scientific.’
‘Well then, let me quote what physicist Werner Heisenberg had to say about this interpretation of reality. In short, he said, there are no objects in the ocean since all that exists is an infinite ocean of consciousness, which we may call Mind or Spirit. And so, the appearances of objects perceived on the surface are just energy vortexes we interpret as bodies, along with all the other material forms that seem to appear on the ocean’s surface.

‘Really, I had no idea he, a physicist, would have said anything as esoteric as that.’

‘Why not? – he was only being scientific. 70

________________

‘But to take this one step further,’ Mo said, ‘think of each soul as a swirl of consciousness that wakes up to its existence in an ocean of consciousness from which it is composed. At first, it’s deluded into thinking it’s alone and unconnected. It looks at itself and says, ‘Oh, I have my own body, which I experience as me, and so I must be separate from you and all other objects in existence.
‘Even if this swirling soul believes in God, it might consider the Source as another object out there that happens to be calling the shots. However, the Source is beyond objectification as the infinite substrate of all that is or ever could be. The finite cannot exist alongside the infinite since what’s finite exists within, not alongside the infinite. In other words, it’s an inherent aspect of the infinite.’ 70

‘What is it that observes observing itself, if not the divine Consciousness of all that is, without limits or boundaries? What remains aware is your Self, your Christ, infinitely more than the you that you think you are; that which Yeshua revealed as the kingdom within, the very essence of your being.

‘And so, back to your dancer, Julie, is an eddy of soul-consciousness swirling in the infinite pool of Beingness, experiencing herself as a more rarefied expression of Julianne. Nevertheless, she realises that she is entangled within indivisible divine consciousness, so that any sense of separation Julianne experiences is an illusion. 71

________________

‘A little eddy swirling in the ocean is not of a different substance than all the water surrounding it,’ he said, ‘since its essence remains water, though it might appear as an independent swirl of energy. Similarly, this swirl of partial awareness experiences itself as a frequency matrix of individuated identity imprinted on consciousness from various impressions acquired throughout life.’
‘If that’s the case, where then does this swirling eddy begin and end?’ I asked.
‘At least in essence, it is the same as Source; it has no beginning nor end, eternally derived from the ocean of consciousness in which it abides from the Source. Think of your soul as a self-contained swirl of activity with a unique frequency signature that experiences and expresses life differently, swirling about in the sea of life as a unique, free will being that appears apart from the rest of the ocean. 72

________________

‘Consider what the medieval mystic Meister Eckhart expressed about this paradox. The eye through which I see God is the same eye through which God sees me. And so, we can only see and know ourselves when we lose ourselves in the perfect stillness of pure consciousness. In other words, if anyone wishes to find life, they must first lose it.

‘It’s not about doing; it’s about resting in the calm stillness at the centre where there is no activity, only contemplation, where we come to know who we are rather than just what we are.’

‘In this sense, we may describe consciousness as the effluence of God, even if certain traditions tend to anthropomorphise God as a man floating about in the sky. For our purposes, however, this refulgence constitutes the essence of our being. And so, as James and I were discussing, we might think of souls as being analogous to swirling vortexes that we co-create from out of the ocean of infinite Consciousness.’ 73

________________

‘Well, James, now that your snow angel mystery is solved,’ Eli said, ‘let’s consider the snowflake. Though of infinite variety, they have no essence or existence apart from water molecules, which crystallise into patterns of countless expressions. Likewise, all souls are created from the ocean of divine consciousness and manifested into unlimited extensions of the Infinite Source of all that is or can be.

‘That’s why it’s not blasphemous to acknowledge ourselves as gods since our souls are extensions of God’s divine essence. However, as souls, we don’t claim to be the Creator; rather, we co-create with our Creator.
‘No less than Yeshua taught about our inherent divinity when quoting from the scriptures: You are gods. Though he understood we are not the Source, he knew we’re all of the Source.

‘That’s a long way off from Darwin,’ I laughed.

‘Just as Darwin was a long way off from God,’ Eli laughed. 74

________________

‘If you think of our Creator-Source as a Father figure, as do many religious traditions, we are his children. Fathers create children; children don’t create fathers. And, since we are extensions of God the Father, we are His children, making us gods that are created to co-create.’

‘That’s an intelligent way to look at it, Julie said, ‘I’ll try to get Julianne to understand this perspective since she’s often confused by some of these more esoteric ideas. So, let’s return to your ocean analogy, Mo; I’m sure Julianne would like to know more.’

‘Fine then, tell her it’s like God stirring the ocean of divine consciousness into a swirl that creates an energetic vortex called the universal soul. Scientifically, we might call this mix the collective DNA codes from which we are individuated us with our unique frequency pattern.’

‘You mean,’ Julie said, ‘like each snowflake has a unique design created in the same molecular substance of water.’

‘More than that,’ Mo said, ‘each soul comes encoded with countless designs of accumulated lifetimes. That’s why it’s an illusion when we imagine ourselves separate from the unified field in which we exist. Unfortunately, this is how many on earth experience reality.

‘It is a dualistic illusion of the ego-mind since there is no possibility of being separate. There aren’t two substrates: one material and the other spiritual. All is an expression within a diversity of octave densities.’

‘As we’ve often suggested,’ Eli said, ‘Descartes unwittingly got things wrong, which has had profound consequences on how humanity perceives reality and a significant setback in understanding consciousness.

‘Too many scientists on the earth regard life as inert matter with quirks called consciousness, something they understand almost nothing. Quantum physicists, for the most part, are now beginning to understand consciousness as being implicit in all reality. If not, they should be if they are paying attention to the evidence. 75

‘Tell Julianne to imagine creation is something like God stirring the ocean of divine consciousness into an innumerable vortices we call souls. Scientifically, we might call this mix the DNA code that individuates every soul with unique frequency patterns.’

‘You mean each soul is like a snowflake, having a unique design even when created in the same molecular substance of water.’

‘Yes, Julie, but more than that, each soul comes encoded with countless designs of accumulated lifetimes. That’s why it’s an illusion when we imagine ourselves separate from the unified field in which we exist. Unfortunately, this is how many humans experience reality, as dualistic illusions of the mind.  But reality doesn’t have two substrates, one material and the other spiritual. All is a nondual expression within a diversity of octave densities.’ 74

‘Creativity should be understood as an expression of God’s image, even if humanity continues to manifest grotesque distortions of divine light and love while exercising its free will. Wasn’t it one of your great physicists, David Bohm, who said: man is a microcosm of the universe, therefore what man is, is a clue to the universe. We are enfolded in the universe just as Julianne remains enfolded in you.

‘Though she already senses there’s more to her than just the physical, she doesn’t understand the dynamics of being enfolded within an oversoul she outwardly projects, that being you. That’s too metaphysical for the West’s material culture, and so few realise we are parts contained and assimilated in a larger whole, all the way to Source. Or as we often say, holons being contained in larger and larger holon octaves expanding towards infinity.’ 76

‘After all my time here, my mind still defaults to the dualistic interpretation of reality, which is why I’ve wondered how mystics managed to assimilate the undifferentiated oneness of subject and object.’

‘You’ve made much progress considering where you came from in the mediocre ruts of the Lowlands, your indoctrination in the Flatlands and spiritual confusion in the Hillcountry. As you continue to move beyond these lower planes back home, you will again gradually experience the same higher enlightenment you’re achieving here.

‘Mystics such as Meister Eckhart, Jakob Boehme and countless others understood, not because they studied a lot. Instead, enlightenment found them. As we’ve discussed before, we don’t need to apprehend Spirit when we allow the Spirit to apprehend us.’ 84

_______________

Enlightenment can only occur when our perception of subject-object duality collapses through unconditional love, in which we encounter the divine Presence, regardless of how we describe it… integration, union, fusing, melding, or even melting. Though momentary, it seems timeless. And when it’s over, the presence continues to dwell within the inner recesses of our souls. 98

________________

‘This world is not all that enlightened,’ Eli said, ‘yet there remain pockets of light over this planet’s landscape that disproportionately influence the world towards heightened consciousness. Some of these are beacons from the past and even a few in the present, but little is known of the countless unsung heroes of faith who anonymously shine their light into the darkness.
‘Seeing ourselves as separate from our Source due to anthropomorphic teachings in religion or denial of God altogether, we harshly judge ourselves with self-loathing and then project this on everyone else. That’s the opposite of enlightenment and the basis of all conflict in the world.96

‘Then I suggest you begin to read some Persian poetry if you want to make an impression on her. Over the last several months, she has read almost every poem she could find by Hafiz and Rumi.’

‘That sounds fine, but I’m sure there’s a lot more to enlightenment than reading poetry or sitting under a Bodhi tree like Buddha.’

‘Yes, of course, according to Mo, enlightenment can only occur when our perception of subject-object duality collapses through unconditional love, in which we encounter the divine Presence, regardless of how we describe it… integration, union, fusing, melding, or even melting. Though momentary, it seems timeless. And when it’s over, the presence continues to dwell within the inner recesses of our souls. 98

In reality, it’s simply a matter of likes attracting likes, so the whole affair came together basically on its own. It’s the magic of the universe when everyone’s affections align, even when the stars don’t,’ he chuckled. Remember how we taught that vibratory alignment is a fundamental principle of entanglement in the universe for manifestation, be it Elysium or the world’s lower states of consciousness.’ 101

I recalled Mo and Eli suggesting the true expression of sexual love is nothing less than experiencing the union of one’s Self with the lover… body, heart and mind, presumably because that’s the only way love can be fully experienced and satisfied. Still, I wondered, how would they know anything?
Nevertheless, if Julie were truly in love with me,  I could finally discover the magic of consummated love, transcending the limitations of my past failures to sustain intimacy with a woman. As it’s stated, the two shall become one flesh.
But that was no longer good enough; I now wanted more, I wish to experience the depths of with authentic oneness of heart, soul and mind.
It was something I was unfamiliar with, even though I might have come close to it many years ago while enraptured by the slightly inebriated Sister Máire in my dormitory room. I didn’t understand it then, yet there was much more to her than I realised, which for years amplified my desire to experience the fullness of such love once again. 145

I thought again of one of Eli’s favourite lines from William Blake: Eternity is in love with the creations of time. Elysium may have inspired the music, though it was created in the world, so both Earth and Elysium become enriched in their eternal expansion of transcend co-creation. And if this passage into Elysium’s threshold was any indication, it was large enough for everyone and everything that brought joy to the soul. Though this cave may not have been within Elysium’s frequency domain, nevertheless, since heaven is more a state of being than a place on the celestial map, this happening would have been, in some measure, a splendid intimation of what Elysium could be when merging and coalescing with the souls who make it so. 147

‘I’ve been teaching Julianne to speak from her heart, not only her mind. However, there’s not much she can do to convince hardened sceptics once their minds are made up. In fact, no one can. And, like your colleagues, your fall guy dwelt too much in the mind and not enough in his heart, such that he might be your biggest challenge.

‘What can I say? It seems an occupational hazard for most philosophers and scientists.’

‘Regardless,’ Julie said, ‘the mind needs to process its knowledge through the heart to understand what lies beyond the linear third dimension of the Flatlands. Until the fall guy learns how to do that, you might need Julianne to awaken him, not just outwardly… within, too.’ 171

________________

‘You know, James, there are a couple of phrases that Julianne has recently read and continues to repeat to herself. These are helping her get control of her thoughts, so perhaps they will help you, too. Everyone needs to learn these, no matter how many lifetimes it might take. One is to choose again.
‘Many sages have spoken of this in various ways throughout the ages, but nowhere has it been stated more succinctly. As I’m sure, as a philosopher, you realise that the simplest statements are often the most profound. I’ve even heard you say that in your summit discussions. Unfortunately, few on earth know how to avoid the thoughts that would hurt them. That’s why everyone needs to learn how to choose what thoughts they wish to accept or reject.’ 176

I then recalled how Mo and Eli often quoted an old proverb: Guard your heart more than any treasure, for it is the source of all life. They suggest I pay more attention to my heart so that negative thought patterns weaken and dissipate. However, it would be necessary for me to be vigilant, be it on earth or in realms beyond, in choosing my thoughts rather than them choosing me. 177

‘It’s more important to discover for yourself than learn from us. That makes all the difference in the world. That’s how you comprehend things from higher levels of consciousness. It’s easier to discover the answer to arcane mysteries when accessing higher dimensions of consciousness that bring new revelations from within. What’s outside can’t comprehend what’s inside. Just recall your extraordinary discovery that stormy night on your paradise island. That understanding didn’t come from a book, although others might learn what happened when they read about it. See the difference? 210

‘Though we have helped you make important discoveries about yourself, along the way, we hope you will continue to do so after you return. Then, you will indeed be a philosopher and scientist of distinction when you have less use for books and more appreciation for discovery. Consider Julianne; though we told you all about her, you still didn’t know her until engaging with her in the hospital room. And now, after meeting Julie, you have discovered much more than you could have learned from what we told you.’ 210

‘So what does it mean when you say we relive echoes of the past in the present?’
‘This may occur throughout one’s lifetime, but ultimately, it involves the final life review when souls arrive in Elysium, and memories are objectively crystallised to see things as they are without the subjective filters of the ego-mind. It is more than just recalling what was believed to have happened; it is also seeing one’s life outside of time in the light of truth.’

‘Whether you are here or there or anywhere else, you exist beyond the lower order of 3D time because you are of divine essence. You are more than a time-bound human. You are also a timeless god. It’s just that few realise it.’
‘As we’ve discussed around our campfires, Homo Sapiens are far more than just knuckle-dragging animals, although the species may have devolved to such a level or even lower. Regardless of past lies, the message that needs to be communicated is that we’re gods created by the divine conatus of Source. And if you have to do some scientific deconstructing to understand that, then do it with the type of questions Rhom employed at the virtual forum.’ 215

‘Yes, just as it’s often said, we only learn what we teach. It’s so evident, even if it contradicts what the world understands. The ego cares only about taking, never about giving, which impoverishes the soul and causes many to lose when they could have won. Every soul is enriched when no one loses, and everyone wins by entering the spirit of giving and receiving.’ 226

It’s true; when we seek the path… the path tends to find us, no matter where we are; it’s how we express more of our divine essence. We are never complete; we are always growing. Eventually, we move forward again, inexorably, to higher realities. Now was one of those times. 226

BOOK SIX: THE ELIXIR

As I recall, love is felt most intensely as Eros, especially when two are bonded as we are, physically and spiritually. That’s hard to beat. Other times, it’s experienced as Storge, such as the maternal love Anna feels for you and the man she bore on earth. Souls attuned to Agape love, such as Maria, know the fullness of love’s Source essence. For her, it’s a divine encounter.’

‘And, perhaps less evidently,’ I said, ‘yet as significantly, love might be expressed as Philia, just as I’ve had the honour of experiencing with Eli, Jan, and Rhom’s friendship towards me and me to them. And so it has been with many of my friends in the world, all to varying degrees of affection.’

‘So how about your fall guy… how do you feel about him?f
That’s kind of a fun question to ask. As I observe my body in the hospital, I feel pity, but also a renewed appreciate for what it has done for me, yet to me, he is more than just a biological life form but the sensory source of so many pleasures.
‘I also view the fall guy as the devoted servant who got me through over thirty years slogging through this challenging world. Even after abusing him occasionally with too much alcohol, sailor debauchery, academic stress and my near-fatal fall, he was there for me for whatever lay ahead. 18

________________

Possibly, all the healing love we are projecting into his cells, as good as that may be, still requires a spark to get his neurons fired up.
‘Let me give you an illustration. After all the outdoor fires I lit while camping during my two years in Canada, I found how tough it was to get a flame going when the wood was damp. Sometimes, the logs would smoulder on and on for a long time, even when throwing dry grass under them.

‘However, when I placed some dry kindling beneath the logs, after a sufficient smouldering, they would suddenly burst into flames. That’s because all the smouldering would cause the logs to dry out sufficiently to catch the kindling’s flame, and soon you have a roaring fire.’

‘To take this analogy further, all the love and light we have been projecting onto the fall guy with Julie is like the smouldering. Even if it doesn’t appear as such, the cells are slowly healing, though not enough to ignite the neurons. So maybe, just maybe, the cells need something more to fire up the fall guy’s whole system, and possibly that something more is the equation.’ 25

‘Still, I don’t understand why he wouldn’t want to be more forthcoming when it comes to helping Julianne. I can tell you, she’s one confused girl about now.’
‘Let me give you a clue, Julie. While in the virtual islands, he often withheld information from me so I would discover whatever I needed to know rather than rely on being told. So, unless he deemed it necessary to say something I couldn’t otherwise figure out, he preferred I reach my own conclusions. That way, I would own what I discovered… and that’s what authentic learning is about.
‘In fact, that’s how he taught me to sail over five hundred years ago, so I would quickly learn everything I needed to know through direct experience. From what he said, the first time I was at the helm, I got turned around one night because of the overcast skies, misinterpreting the constellations that put us on a trajectory away from the Caribbean towards what is now Brazil. Nevertheless, even as an inexperienced swashbuckler, he kept me at the helm, sailing all night until I saw the sun rising in the wrong direction.
‘Then came the big test when he suddenly disappeared as we were sailing through a storm. Everyone, including me, thought he had fallen overboard while drinking too much rum on the deck of the swaying ship. However, with his Plaiedian constitution, there was no evidence he was drunk then or at any other time. Of course, I didn’t understand that at the time. 31

________________

‘While on our recent virtual tour, I asked him why he decided to abandon the ship. He replied that he knew I was ready to be captain, which was a great career move for me. It was easier to become the Captain by default while at sea, leading me to an exciting and fulfilling sailing career.

‘It wasn’t always easy, though. After being at sea for years as Captain, I occasionally faced what seemed insurmountable odds against storms, pirates, scurvy and even mutiny. As for him, he said he left after accomplishing what he came to perform in this world for the time being, having other adventures and assignments in the multiverse he wished to pursue, at least until we met again when I first enrolled at university. I don’t know what other purpose he had while on this planet other than to train and influence me…  perhaps for times such as this.’ 31

‘Indeed, as I look back on my life, I now realise solutions are best found through discovery, not learning. I suspect that’s why life hasn’t been that easy this time around, especially as a youth. It wasn’t just about me following in my father’s footsteps since there were no footsteps to follow; rather, I had to find my way. For now, it seems I’m on the trajectory I was meant to be on. Otherwise, I wouldn’t be with you, the biggest discovery of my life.’ 32

‘Considering the current state of global consciousness,’ I said, ‘it might take a while for the world to ascend unless something jolts humanity out of its apathy. However, I find it encouraging to hear that a new Golden Age might not be far off for some, even though it might take the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse to clear the path and rid Earth of its toxicity, corruption, and insidious fixation on power and control.

‘For everyone’s sake, and mine too when I return, I’d like to believe these horsemen are about to mount their steeds to charge across the lands, dismantling all vestiges of deep state corruption that has held the world in fear and ignorance for so long. Earth is ready for redemption. Maybe after the scourge, should that happen, the world will finally be prepared to do something about its malaise. Where there is no will, there is no way.’ 51

‘The unhinged human ego will not give up without a fight as it continues to wallow in its delusions. The celestial masters went on to say that over the centuries, certain religious institutions have become repositories of the lowest expressions of human consciousness, citing their exploitations of fear, shame, and guilt.

‘When these institutions impose fearful beliefs to advance nefarious ends of power and money, they’re more associated, if not consociated, with the lower domains than the heavens. In fact, throughout the ages, religion has been used to promote various forms of exclusivity and superiority, presuming to possess God’s favour in their pursuit of religious conquest, sometimes by the sword.

‘That’s why, they said, all religions, including those claiming to represent the light of Yesha, will need to transmute their religious dogma towards their heart’s inward light, which remains the substrate and essence of all reality. It is consciousness, it is love, and most importantly, it is the whole of all there is or could be. 52

‘Worst of all, most will clamour for their hemlock when the authorities assure the masses they are safe if they comply. After brainwashing the public, the co-opted mainstream media and political establishment will take delight in demonising anyone who questions their propaganda.

‘That’s always been the problem on Earth,’ Eli said, ‘where it’s generally the highly educated who fall for indoctrinations because they, in their humanist idealism, tend to trust institutions of power and authority. Fear is the precursor to insanity and the surest means to destruction.’ 53

Julianne recently read somewhere: He who hasn’t conquered fear isn’t a conquer; rather, darkness blinds his eyes. Though he might own all the great art in the world, he won’t recognise Beauty. Though he might possess all the sacred books in the universe, he won’t recognise Truth.’

‘Let me put it this way, James. Though you had eyes for my beauty, what you saw was Julianne’s inward beauty as perceived with the eyes of your Self’s risen soul. That’s what you were drawn to, just as with Anna. It was the beauty of eternal love created in time that we lived out over centuries. 72

______________

‘You know, as Julie and I were having a picnic yesterday, it occurred to me that if we simultaneously focused on the elixir, we could project our impressions onto a field of shared consciousness like several projectors in a theatre. When projecting these images, everything merges as one, like a giant multidimensional hologram.

‘And so, if the equation has inward coherence, our thoughts will merge as a pattern in the field of shared consciousness. It then becomes an exquisite tuning fork, raising the vibratory fields of all conscious beings to a higher frequency. But if no one is listening, there can be no resonance if no one resonates with it, much like a tree that falls in the forest when no one is present. So, if anyone wishes to place their hands over their ears, that’s their choice. Without receptivity, waves pass out into the universe, benefiting no one on Earth.

Yet waves of consciousness can never truly be lost any more than the divine Source can be lost, from whom all consciousness flows to and fro. However, where resonance exists in those souls that remain open, they will be drawn to the tune. As this happens, the sound grows stronger and stronger until, at some point, a critical mass of raised consciousness is achieved, causing a massive shift in the earth’s existential state of being, from which a new song emerges, impinging upon all who share its frequency. Then, as we broadcast our song to the human race, it will raise the collective consciousness of humanity.’ 94

‘Don’t discount your prescient insights, James, or yourself, by looking to me for validation,’ he said. ‘Understand, you’re not living in my shadow any more than I’m in yours. I’m no more special than you, even if I reside within Elysium’s conscious domain. All light flows from the divine Source, but we, in humility, can only comprehend varying degrees of what’s true according to our capacity to receive it. Therefore, what you have to say is no less significant than what Eli or I would say because you have discovered that wisdom comes from the infinite field of consciousness. As we have emphasised repeatedly, truth first resides within, then without. 95

______________

‘And that’s why there is nothing more important in the universe than relationships,’ Maria said, ‘it’s how we experience union with our Source. Forgive me if my words seem too religious, but as Yeshua said: That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee that they also may be one in us. Our connection to the Source is experienced through each other, and when humanity awakens to experiencing this oneness, it will be awakened to life everlasting. That, my friends, is what I taught, and that’s what I lived by all my years in Greece as a nun.’ 98

______________

Possibly, there was a special message her soul wished to hear! Yes, that’s it; these forceful winds blowing through her mind would take her to new heights, high in the sky, just like the kites she watched flying so long ago. Then, it occurred to her that the green kite and the blue kite each meant something.

Yes, they would become metaphors for her life as she wrote down her thoughts on a small notepad she had in her beach bag to write whatever creative thoughts her muse might inspire in her. Green for the earth, blue for the sky, oscillating while sweeping erratically upward and downward. Today, we are crashing down to earth; tomorrow, we are caught up in God’s updraft far above in the blue heavens. But even in a downdraft, we inevitably land on the green earth only to rise again to continue the cycle eternally.
So, which am I, the green or the blue kite? Is the real me the green kite that exists only on Earth, as it continues to crash down again and again, only to rise? Or is the blue kite the other me that seeks to climb high into the heavens and stay there?  Obviously, I am both the green kite that continues to fall to earth and the beautiful blue kite that soars high.  105

As if she had spoken to by the whisper of an angel, she closed the book while pulling a soft blanket over her. The words were very personal and moving. Yes, they were a gentle reminder of something more, something so sublime, so beautiful that she wept softly with joyful tears about a meaning she wasn’t sure she understood.  110

    ________________

It was a song dwelling deep within, waiting to be set free as more than words or melody. So, what could that be? For now, it was enough for her to know the song’s music awaited her, even as her soul slumbered. Was this a call coming to her, perhaps an invitation to evoke whatever ancient words or melodies she was meant to feel, hear and create?’

After lying there for over an hour, half awake, she suddenly, Hafiz’s line, mount the hidden tide echoed in her mind as she threw off the blanket and ran downstairs to the shore, dashing through the tide, diving into the water with her dress, laughing in exuberance, celebrating the ancient song. 110

As a great poet once wrote; You are the music while the music lasts. However, as long as it remains as nothing more than notes scored on paper, there is no life, even though the notes are arranged for various instruments, each with pitch, key, timing, octaves, etc., composed to provide multifarious sounds of harmonious beauty.

‘Just reading the notes on a page doesn’t produce the music until everyone picks up their instruments, and together, they quicken the notes off the page into the aether with creative variations and interpretations of the musicians and conductor. The scores and musical instruments are, in and of themselves, blunt, as Einstein says, and therefore, ineffectual until musicians unite to create music. Likewise, without the animating presence of Spirit, the equation remains as blunt and lifeless as the carving on your stick. 115

‘Inspired; that’s an interesting word,’ Maria said, ‘from the root spirit, hence to in-spirit. Throughout my many years in Greece, I often sat in nature’s garden to meditate, feeling inspired by the loving presence of Spirit. In the same way, you seem to be saying the equation likewise needs to be in-spirited.’

‘That’s brilliant, Maria,’ Jan said. ‘There is no limit to how in-spirited humanity can become, even on earth, as there is no limit to Spirit. Only the limitations on expressing inspiration can snuff out its creative flame, another reason to dwell in love, not fear.

‘As such, each expression of living consciousness exists within a range of octaves appropriate to its capacity to be apprehended. More inclusive octaves may open up in new dimensions of beauty when the recipient is ready to assimilate and actualise their higher frequencies.’ 116

‘You know,’ Anna said, ‘I believe this is part of the beautiful symphony we’re all playing together. James is a major key being readied for his return to the earth plane, just as Julianne is being prepared for James’s return, though not necessarily as a minor key. When your lives converge, you will be ready for union, or should I say reunion. And so, it will be déjà vu for you, James; another glorious opportunity to fall in love again with Julie.’ 118

As Jan and Eli keep saying, what gets intellectuals into trouble is that they rely on their ego-minds rather than the inner knowing of their hearts; in fact, it’s what causes so many to live in the Flatlands. Many never figure things out, so they keep repeating the same mistakes, allowing their ego-minds to decide for them, unless they have a course correction to wake them up. If anyone, I should know, considering the course I had to take.’151

I now have no doubt, based on my experiences in Elysium’s Passage, that everyone who occupies Earth’s lower echelons is offered plenty of assistance from unlimited divine sources… provided we, and not our ego, wish to receive it. We continue to learn our lessons from the experiences we have chosen for ourselves on this plane as we are willing to listen to the inner promptings of our Spirit.

As I came to realise, physical manifestations are only an echo of the a priori intent of the spiritual dimension. Again, Planck had it right; mind is the matrix… the eternal song that creates all that is. 177

Think of yourself as an ambassador for Elysium,’ Eli said, ‘to teach the truth no matter how uncomfortable it makes your opponents feel. The best

way to do this is to question their foundations, then watch their house of cards fall. For those who are too proud or insecure to reconsider their positions, you will get plenty of opposition. Should your opponents insist on making cheap ad hominem assaults against you to compensate for their lack of substance,  the weakness of their arguments will be exposed. All you need to do is stand tall.’ 182

‘You make an excellent point, Jan. I’d like to run that by my colleagues.’

‘Jan’s right,’ Eli said; ‘many philosophers these days seem more concerned with being properly perceived in promoting socially relevant, axe-grinding issues, giving intellectual legitimacy to whatever so-called progressive, politically correct ideologies are in vogue. Whether their cause is noble, ignoble or just plain ignorant, the judgments are generally cast in a Hegelian adversarial dialectic of master-slave, victim-victimiser, us versus them, polemic.’

‘Without doubt,’ I said, ‘I was one of these students, and I must say, it’s easy to be smug and morally superior when safely ensconced on the side no one dares to challenge 185

‘Even in this world of uncertainty, as your inward eyes continue to focus on this spiritual reality, you will know what is real, what is temporal, and what is illusion. As you mature, your outward appearance will perfectly express your inward essence, as Julianne will express hers.

‘Seasoned wisdom is beautiful and will manifest inward vitality, whether in a youthful mode or a more mature presentation, it’s all a projection of how you see yourself. As for me, I see myself as I was in my early twenties when I left the earth, and so that’s how I naturally manifest in the higher heavens.’ 203

Wisdom comes to us honestly, though not necessarily easily,’ he said. ‘Whether it comes to us or we go to it, we must acknowledge that wisdom resides deep within our souls. If we think it is in our heads, the answer is obvious…we can’t. Hanging out with brilliant, albeit self-absorbed intellects will teach you that.’

‘Unfortunately,’ Eli said, ‘your world’s Flatlands will continue to experience the consequences of their foolish ideologies, policies and pernicious decisions. Too many remain consumed by intellectual pride and a false ego-mind and have lost their moral bearings. Truth is found only in the centre of the soul, which we metaphorically refer to as the heart. The mind is incapable of acquiring wisdom until it defers to the heart’s divine understanding.’ 233

‘Whether you’re aware of it or not,’ Anna said, ‘your spirit body will continue to possess all the wonderful qualities your internal essence has garnered this last year. This inner beauty of your spirit will manifest in your earthly body.’

‘You are making some interesting observations, Anna, about how spiritual reality manifests and bleeds through all dimensions,’ Julie said. ‘As I observed on the cave walls with James, it was written PULCHRITUDO SPLENDOR VERITATIS; beauty is the splendour of truth.’ 209

________________

‘And so it is,’ Anna said, ‘beauty is expressed as splendour in infinite ways, yet all beauty has its source in love. And so, James, as your body ages, your face will still convey the transformative experiences you’ve had here. Your eyes and face will bespeak your deeper character as your inner being is assimilated into your bodily form.

‘This reminds me,’ I said, ‘of a quote we discussed at Summit U regarding aesthetics: This, then, is how the material thing becomes beautiful by communicating in the thought that flows from the Divine. I believe Plotinus said that.’ 210

Holding his sword above my shoulders, I knelt as he loudly declared, ‘You are Xavier, Seventh Knight of Excalibur. Rise now; go forth to conquer, wielding the mighty sword of Truth, for what is not of the Light shall be no more, but those who follow its truth shall be a Light unto the Nations.’ 220

I can only describe what flashed before my inward eyes as timeless, suspended only by a cushion of cool ocean air with nothing more than the swift wind rushing towards me from below. As I fall, I again experience my earlier flight towards Elysium’s Passage through the abyss. In an instant, I wondered if I was falling again, this time not to, but away from Passage. As the sea nears, I brace myself for impact, yet I feel nothing as I plunge into the dark depths of a gyrating vortex, stripped of my body and what I have ever experienced. So, where am I destined? It doesn’t matter; I no longer care.

Will this be for a moment or a timeless eternity? Regardless, my soul is content to remain in this plenum of all and nothingness. Love continues to surround me, buoyed in brilliance. It is enough; I’m complete. It is all I ever wanted: entwined in total tranquillity, rest and peace. In the words of one greater, I’m ready to pronounce: CONSUMMATUM EST. 223

         BOOK SEVEN: THE RETURN

After purchasing a copy, I sat in a coffee shop down the street and began to skim through the passages when a phrase in section two caught my eye, stating: Every kind of spirit turns toward his or her ruling love. That got me thinking… so, what was my ruling love? Sex and materialism? It seemed these qualities pretty much summed up my life these days. And yet, that felt abysmally shallow, especially for an intelligent philosopher like me. There had to be more substance to life.

As I read on, it seemed the Swedish sage was suggesting that only divine love and wisdom were worthy of our ruling love; all else flows from that. To me, that statement was provocative, as I realised my ruling love had lost any pretence of human dignity, reduced now to little more than money and vacuous self-gratification. 16

________________

So what master was I serving? Nothingness? I didn’t have an answer. It was evident that I didn’t know myself, even though every philosopher of antiquity, from Hermes to Pythagoras to the Oracle of Delphi and beyond, implored us to Know Thyself.

And so, for the next few days, I contemplated this – not what I did, not what I had accomplished, but rather, who, in my essence, I was. Without knowing that, how could I be authentic? Or, was I, like everyone else, just a fluke of nature that, with time and chance, oozed out of the primal swamp? A collection of microbes that, out of nowhere, somehow became human. It seemed to be the official line from scientists and humanists, so I didn’t question it… in my world, they were the authorities. I mean, what was the alternative: divine creation? Few in academia could go there and survive, so why would I? 16

________________

I didn’t know what to do with what Swedenborg had to say about angels, spirits, departed humans and other beings, since it’s not something most agnostics would give much thought to. Nevertheless, he inspired me to examine myself, much like Plotinus and Pascal had advocated before him. And, wasn’t it Socrates who said that the unexamined life was not worth living? So, how about mine… was it worth living? Good question, too bad I didn’t have a good answer.

Increasingly, it seemed something extraordinary must have happened to me while I was in a coma, as I found myself becoming more reflective and interested in my inward life than the outward, which was ironic, considering my new circumstances and lifestyle. Maybe it was because I was satiated with good times, requiring no thought or effort. However, as an agnostic in good standing, any notion of love and wisdom must be contextualised within the purview of humanism, not religion. Regardless, I determined that forthwith, my life’s quest (at least for now) would be to go within to discover who I was. 17

‘All manifestations of density are projections of electromagnetic frequencies, so a light being would know how to transduce her frequencies into a physical form. The Bible, both the Old and New Testaments, is filled with such incidents. When you think about it, there really is nothing to it, since the entire multiverse is a holographic configuration emanating from the Creator Source, including humans. In that sense, everything is a hologram.’ 136

‘At some point, later in the journal, you’ll come across a discussion about Russian matryoshka dolls and how they illustrate the holodynamic principle taught at Summit U. So think of Selaris as the more inclusive over-soul doll that contains you and your Julie doppelgänger, in a rarefied dimension. Obviously, there’s much more to your multidimensional Self than you realise or can realise. Does that help?’

‘Sure; it helps; it helps to confuse me, Julie said.

‘But in this entangled universe, are we not all one, each participating as different expressions of universal consciousness? Or, as it’s stated in the journal, the many in the one, the one in the many. You’ll see that phrase crop up more than once in James’s writings. 140

Now that I had returned to the Flatlands, I reflected on what Miguel said about my ongoing struggle for tenure, or at least for full-time employment. After being exposed to how flat and linear academia is, it occurred to me that I might have to change my career path to continue my spiritual ascent. Indeed, there were no mountains here, literally or figuratively.

Again, I thought of the quote from Hamlet we had discussed on the summit: To thine own self be true, and it must follow, as the night the day, Thou canst not then be false to any man. So, what if I were to become a writer and not be beholden to anyone, would I then be more true to myself? Good question, James. 145

‘You’re outdoing yourself, James; I don’t know how much more I can take,’ he laughed. ‘Okay, let’s have it.’

‘Hang on. Midway through, I had an extraordinary encounter with a most astonishing character in the virtual Hill Country, someone who lived in the wilderness at the base of a mountain with no visible peak, only misty clouds, with no sky above it. I hadn’t given much thought to who this might be until Julie told me she knew who it was.’

‘So, who does she think he represented?’

‘Read it, then you tell me.’

‘From what you just said, I can hardly wait to get a peek into your inner world, James, especially your tryst with Julie’s double,’ he laughed. ‘So, if you would, send me a copy as soon as possible; I want to get started right away.'

‘Cheers,’ I said as we clinked our glasses.  148

‘I found the rescue mission hilarious,’ Luc said, ‘even though you seemed annoyed at Eli’s cavalier attitude towards your supposed crisis. I guess he thought this was funny, with his feet tangling over the precipice, teasing you while casually smoking his fag… I can see it now,’ she laughed.’

‘I suppose this illustrates how the detached ego mind, in all its trembling, demands we respect its fears even when it deserves none. At least, that’s how it was for me when he didn’t take my rantings seriously, having too good a time mocking my hysteria, which made me even more frustrated.’

‘Maybe that’s why those who live in fear tend to lash out so much towards those who don’t pay it the same respect,’ Julie said, ‘as you reacted to Eli. 150

All we know from what I wrote is that he brandished a large sword with a golden hilt that, with one mighty blow, shattered the boulder to what seemed to my tomb, allowing me to escape.’

‘Which makes me wonder how he could have found you down there unless he was sent from realms on high to deliver you from darkness? I love this portion of your story; so replete with ancient archetypal metaphors, yet anchored in stone, literally.’

‘Who knows? With that mighty Excalibur, he might have been some Arthurian warrior-god sent to me.’

‘It almost seems that way, Julie said, especially where it says:

Rise now and go forth to conquer, wielding the mighty Excalibur of Truth to shatter the world’s fortresses of darkness. Whether you ascend into the heavens or descend into the hells, my spirit is with you. Nothing shall obstruct your way. As you follow the light, so shall you become the light and what is not of the light shall be extinguished by the light. As you follow the light, so shall you become a light unto the nations.’ 153

________________

But wouldn’t you like to witness that boulder being smashed into rubble with one mighty blow? Then maybe you will be inspired to likewise wield your Excalibur of truth so that you might shatter the world’s fortresses of darkness, just as your journal states.’

‘That’s a rather lofty admonishment, Julie; a tad over my pay level, with or without the Excalibur. I mean, really… shatter the world’s fortresses of darkness. Who do you think I am?

I didn’t say it; it’s what you said, James. Besides, it’s not about who you are, but who you are becoming. You know, as we keep reading, I get the feeling you’re being set up for something big.’ 154

‘Nevertheless,’ Eunice said, ‘this does not necessarily mean everyone will want to be convinced of your experiences, particularly when it’s contrary to their clinical beliefs. I suspect there may be some who’ll try to dismiss your claims of having out-of-body experiences, particularly the psychiatrists, who tend to be more medically orthodox and left-brained.’

‘Eunice is probably right,’ Ben said, ‘but don’t mind them; they can’t help themselves. Always remember what Aquinas said: All things are received according to the nature of the recipient. By the way, I was most impressed by how often  your mountain companions quoted that line.’

‘Which reveals the calibre of company you’re keeping, no matter what side of the veil you find yourself,’ Eunice smiled.

‘Of course… just look at the wife I’m hanging out with,’ I chuckled.

‘Indeed, that goes for me, too,’ Ben said. ‘Still, it’s not up to you to change the minds or nature of the unwilling because, in the end, you can’t. Nevertheless, you can speak the truth to those willing to listen, as I’m sure many will this weekend.’

To that, let me add one more quote, this one by Pascal: There is enough light for those who only desire to see and enough darkness for those of a contrary disposition.’ I once used that on my contrarian advisor at Edinburgh, which probably had something to do with having to spend an extra year rewriting my thesis before I was permitted to receive my doctorate.’ 174‘

‘As an attractive and intelligent young woman, how is it that you still find yourself unattached,’ Luc asked?

‘Is that how I appear to you? Never mind, don’t answer that. Still, it’s true; I have only dreams. I’ve never met a man in the Flatlands, as James calls it, who could satisfy me. After he left his virtual Sophia behind, I began to view life quite differently, determined to find the higher ground he told her they were sailing to. That’s when the mists cleared, and I began to see the Mountain across the sea.

‘I then caught a boat sailing from Flatland’s arid deserts to a hilly country where I found my way to a Mountain and began my ascent to discover a community of teachers. As Miguel suggests, that’s where I met Plotinus, Plato, Aristotle, Socrates, Pythagoras and many others, directing me towards more expansive views… further up and further in, as the  journal keeps saying.’

‘It’s true, things look much different the higher you go, don’t they? So, as you ascend, what more do you hope to see?’

‘I don’t know; perhaps God.’ 178

‘And yet,’ Charles said, ‘Aristotle and the great Greek philosophers of antiquity implored us to know ourselves, because without knowing that, we can’t know anything else. At least, that’s how I understand it.’

‘Yes, they, and the ancient Egyptians before them, certainly did leave us with a tough one, as far as conundrums go.’

‘Then, if you please, share your thoughts. As I reflect on my life and career, I find myself increasingly wondering about this conundrum. It seems few, if any, in this world have a satisfactory answer to who we are, who others are… and for that matter, why we are.’

‘I think you’re right. Nevertheless, I believe what lies behind this Hermetic injunction is something more profound than us being just an ego within a skin-encapsulated Homo sapien. Some say our true essence is an extended fractal of a hidden Self that infinitely transcends itself, shared by all, individually expressed, yet known to few. And so, my only hint as to who we are is not only more than we imagine, but far beyond what we can imagine. At best, we might at times be able to intuit this Presence, though never in words since it's ineffable.’

‘That sounds profound, James, although I’m not sure how helpful this is for those of us who reside outside the gates of the School of Athens.’

‘So what did you expect from a philosopher?’ I laughed. ‘We do questions better than answers. And even when we hazard an answer, it’s mostly full of obfuscation, ambiguity and nuance, leading to more questions. That’s why I keep my wife nearby; she understands more about who I am than I do.’ 188

Although I identified with much of what he said, I expressed scepticism towards some of the alarmism implicit in his climate change assumptions.

‘You say, Carl, that we must cut our carbon emissions. Most environmentalists say that, although I’ve never understood why that’s necessary, considering carbon is plant food, essential to plants as oxygen is to us. Furthermore, NASA's planetary photos show that Earth has become 20% greener over the years. In fact, Dr Patrick Moore, co-founder of Greenpeace, has observed that there isn’t a carbon surplus as we’ve been told; rather, there’s a deficit since more plants require more carbon nutrients. I guess that makes sense.’

‘I’d also like to point out that every prediction of dire climate catastrophe has proven entirely false over the last forty years. For example, contrary to what we’ve often been told, the polar ice caps are not melting, the sea is not rising, and we might soon be headed into another cycle of global cooling in conjunction with the sun’s radiant cycles. 192

We might be biased,’ Edward said, ‘but damn, James, just look at your journal and how consummate it is with profound meaning. As the saying goes, the pen is mightier than the sword; except with you, the pen will be your sword since, as you quoted in your journal, The word is sharper than any two-edged sword.

You should prepare to get out of the system before you publish your books. At least have an exit strategy. But one thing is certain, they can’t bribe you with their money since you already have far more than they ever will. You won’t need them any more than your old nemesis, the thesis adviser, waving his finger at you to keep you narrow and compliant.’

‘Still, I prefer not to burn my bridges in the academic world. But if I have to, it would be jolly to know there might be a softer landing than there was down the abyss in Chile. 198

Whatever you do, be sure to take in the world’s Flatland forums again, and not just the part where you were flirting with Sophia at the back. If you listen closely to my debate, you might learn a few tips on how to pop the fragile bubbles of modern secular sophistries. Just a few pinpricks here and there should do it; their arguments are that fragile.’

‘I’m sure, but as I recall, you were a bit brutal on the presenter with your line of questioning.’

‘How else are they going to learn? Since it’s impossible to argue with ignorance, never argue; instead, do what Socrates and I did by asking questions until their vacuous responses become exposed for all to see, including them. You already know this, but you don’t do it as well as you could, which is a human weakness most share.

‘That’s because the ego would rather talk than listen, since it only knows how to react. But once you get good at this, those who are open to the light of reason… will see, and fewer will be infected with whatever lies are being promulgated by the lower world’s agents of deception. Many souls in the Flatlands have been waiting a long time to hear they are more than flukes of nature.’ 203

‘Only those who choose to comply with materialist nonsense refuse to listen to reason. Their consciousness remains too low to understand the difference between truth and falsehood, so they only hear what they wish to believe or what they’re told to believe. And so, James, your mission will be to clue these souls into understanding that the emperor has no clothes.’

‘I’m not promising anything, but I’ll do what I can.’

‘Yes, if you would, since philosophy, by definition, means a lover of wisdom. I believe you already had that conversation with your mountain companions, so I trust your writings will shine some light into the murky obfuscation that enshrouds the noosphere of this otherwise beautiful planet.’

‘Remember, your Excalibur. In the coming battle, only it, the word of truth, can demolish the fortresses of deception.’ 203

‘Again, as you were anointed Seventh Knight, Excalibur, before re-entering this plane, never forget the mission you are entrusted with from worlds afar. Use the mighty Excalibur bestowed upon you at your Last Supper to strike down the rulers of darkness and spiritual wickedness in high places.’

‘How do you know about my Last Supper? I just found out about what happened while I was in Aspen under hypnosis.’

‘Then I guess it was about time you found out,’ he grinned.

‘So why didn’t you tell me about this before?’ I asked.

‘Everything has a right time, and that was your right time. So now you know, James, your anointing was a cosmic send-off.

‘My word, Miguel, are you saying all that hails from worlds beyond?’

‘More than you know, but for now, you need to recognise the importance of awakening humanity to the lies and suffering being inflicted upon them. 207

‘You’ve heard of the myth of the fall; well, this illustrates what it means to be banished from the garden. Separation wasn’t a mistake, as some religions assume; dualism was a necessary stage in the conscious evolution of humanity. That’s because advancing beyond the third density is impossible without first experiencing the lower planes of ignorance.

‘And so, as with all souls in the universe, it was necessary for humanity to traverse dark valleys for hundreds of millennia after devolving into primitive expressions of visceral consciousness. Again, that was no mistake; it’s the process of awakening. Read William Blake’s Songs of Innocence and Experience, and then you may understand.’

‘Understand what?’ I asked.

‘To evolve from primitive innocence to a state of higher innocence or consciousness, the soul, in its individual and collective expressions, must pass through the opposing fires of experience to choose higher innocence. And so it is throughout the free will cosmos; love demands it, or love can no longer exist as love. 209

________________

‘Next, let’s look at the existence of good and evil. Is it possible for good to exist if it’s impossible for it not to exist? That is, if the existence of evil is not possible, then how can the contrast of goodness be possible? Further to that, how can free will be said to exist without its absence? And if free will can’t exist, how can love?

‘So there you have it. Rather than performing intellectual cartwheels about how the Almighty could permit evil, consider these straightforward questions. Most importantly, logic is essential, as long as it is not based on reductionist, third-dimensional Flatland reasoning.’ 211

_______________

An evening mist enveloped the waters and docks as I strolled along the same docks as before, noting that it was now midnight. Would she appear? I had never encountered a ghost before, at least not in this dimension. Then… suddenly, I did!

Approaching me from across the water, she glided towards me in a wispy white garment, her beauty surpassing anything I had imagined. Though partially transparent to my eyes, she wasn’t translucent enough to see through. After a short while, she spoke softly and lovingly.

‘Don’t be afraid, my son; I am pleased your heart has opened to see me as I was and remain. Do you remember the happy days we spent on these old wooden planks back when you were my young man? And not just then, but again when we met here almost three years ago after your passing, not to heaven but to Earth,’ she smiled, aware of the irony. 219

‘Nevertheless, the stakes are high, Miguel said, so if you’re not aware of who you are, you may not be up to the challenges that arise. That’s why Anna wanted to remind you of who you were in Elysium’s Passage. With that, you will be prepared and equipped to lead the resistance. However, you may not have much time, perhaps a year or two.’

‘And then what?’

‘It depends on how much humanity awakens. If it remains asleep, your world may be plunged even deeper into the hells of its own creation. 239

And yet, these nefarious actors are but proxies for even more seditious adversaries in the cosmos who play the long game. For ages, they’ve been plotting to take over your planet.’

‘You mean like in Star Wars? If so, it sounds like Earth could be obliterated by a Death Star.’

‘Think of it more as a systemic cancer in the moral fibre of humanity where compliance becomes complicity, becomes cowardice. That’s the Death Star. Your scriptures give a clue of what Earth is up against,’ Miguel said. ‘As it’s written, we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.’

‘I’m familiar with this quote,’ Luc said, but since it was written almost two thousand years ago, I’ve taken this to mean something less literal and more metaphoric.’

‘Notice, Luc, this states the cosmic powers and forces of evil remain in the heavenly places, meaning the spiritual dimension. So, it’s rather obvious: this battle has been going on for a while at low levels of consciousness. 240

‘I find it astonishing how deeply you were drawn into this encounter, much like me when, at my request, Julie carried out a regression so I could reexperience what I had recorded.’

‘And how did it feel?’

‘I, too, felt sad because I wanted to take you on our voyage; however, as you read, Rhom reminded me you weren’t actually real, only a virtual form projected into an altered reality.’

‘I’m still not sure what that means, James. What do you think?’

‘It’s beyond me, except she felt very physical when I held her body against mine. Maybe we felt physical to each other because our souls were resonating on the same spectrum of consciousness. And yet I’m not exactly sure what that means, even if it sounds good,’ I laughed.

‘Did it feel like you were in love with my phantom? It almost seems that way from what you said to Rhom as you were walking away.’

‘Possibly, I was, in the same sense that some physicists refer to as quantum entanglement. It’s not real, except when it is,’ I chuckled. ‘Really out there, isn’t it?’ 249

________________

‘And how about you, Miguel? What have you been up to since we last spoke? Have you embarked on any more voyages on our ghost ship?’

‘No, not recently. If you must know, I’ve been collaborating with various members of the galactic council, preparing an updated plan for your world’s transition from the third to the fourth and eventually fifth densities … no small task. This incremental evolution has been in the works for several millennia; however, as I’ve said, before higher frequencies can be anchored to the planet’s crystalline grid, the accumulated toxins lodged deep within your carbon grid must first be expunged. That can only occur when human consciousness rises to the occasion, which is why we can’t give you a firm timeline for Earth’s dawning. It’s all up to you guys,’ he chuckled. 259

‘Remember what I said about the Georgia Guidestones? Well, that will be your first assignment. You are ideally suited for the job of taking them out since you’ll have the ability to teleport in, detonate, and then teleport out undetected. It will be an important mission since the inscriptions were intended to be more than just proclamations. They have a frequency that ripples into the universe as a declaration wrapped in deceptive, high-sounding words of idealism, so that no one will recognise the arcon’s true agenda to take over this world. But that’s just for starters. There are plenty of installations that need to be taken out.’

‘I don’t know, Miguel; this sounds half conspiracy and half science fiction.’

‘It’s beyond both conspiracy and fiction,’ he said, his voice lowering. ‘The outcome of this and other missions could permeate the timelines of space.’

‘Fine, I’m not sure what that’s supposed to mean, but how do cosmic low-lifes get away with wreaking havoc when it’s our world, not theirs?’ 261

________________

I stared at him, incredulously. ‘So, realistically, how are we to dismantle something so massive that it spans the cosmos?’

‘It’s not about taking down the whole structure at once. Every operation will chip away at the foundations as you bring light to their vulnerabilities. In fact, your detachment will be part of the cosmic Light Brigade.’

‘Ah, sounds a lot like Tennyson’s Charge of the Light Brigade. I like that!’

‘Every strategic move, or if you prefer, charge, would weaken their grip on Earth and beyond. That’s why your involvement could be crucial; you’ll be bringing something to the table they won’t expect.’

His words lingered in the air; obviously, this was going to be more than a one-off assault, but the beginning of something much greater than I anticipated… not that he hadn’t been warning me.

After this peculiar, if not unsettling, conversation, I decided it would be best not to mention anything specific to Julie about what Miguel was conscripting me into. With everything else going on in her life, the last thing she needed to worry about was going off to war. Instead, I would tell Luc what Miguel had disclosed about this mercenary mission. I laughed to myself: nothing less than undermining the cosmological overlords of darkness. After this, they may need to make another Star Wars movie. 264

‘Apart from blowing up systems and structures of nefarious intent, Luc said, I suspect your writings might, in the long run might turn out to be as revolutionary as anything, provided they inspire humanity to rise against their moral ineptitude and cowardice. I see it everywhere… complicit sheep willing to trade in their freedom and dignity for the illusion of security. I guess that’s what happens when humanity forgets who they are. So hopefully, these writings will remind the world it derives its being not in Darwin’s primaeval mud but the eternal Source, or as Wordsworth puts it, But trailing clouds of glory do we come.’ 266

On the way home, I kept asking how our love could be wrong when it felt so right. Were we meant to be monogamous, or was that just a convention contrived by culture and religion over the centuries? Though the Ten Commandments forbade adultery, nevertheless, from what I could see, there was nothing about bigamy that was forbidden. Even Moses, who wrote the Bible’s Pentateuch, had more than one lover, and yet wasn’t he the one God supposedly gave these Commandments? Then there was Abraham and his live-in mistress Hagar, mother of Ishmael.

Over the next few days, I thought about all this, not that I was seeking justification for my behaviour, since I doubted there was any; yet I wondered why and how things got set up in the world as they did. The more I thought about it, the more puzzling everything seemed since there was so little consistency.

I wondered how it was that so many of these revered patriarchs and biblical champions end up with so many wives… not to mention concubines? Solomon had about 300 mistresses. Hell, I’d be happy with just one if it were Sophia. Muslim men in Islamic countries get to have up to four wives, and some Hindu men have it pretty good, too. So, over the ages, what changed? 275

‘Okay, let’s see if I can get lift-off,’ I said as I closed my eyes tightly, envisioning myself standing by the rock.

‘Nothing’s happening, Miguel… it seems systems are down. I really tried hard, so what’s wrong?’

‘Remember that episode in Star Wars where Yoda was teaching Luke Skywalker to levitate? Do you recall what Yoda said when Luke wasn’t getting anywhere?’

‘That was before my time; so what did he say?’

‘Try not. Do. Or do not. There is no try. You said you tried hard; Yoda would say that’s your problem; there is no try.’ It’s a matter of do or do not.’

‘Easier said… to do, than to do,’ I chuckled.

‘Still, isn’t it better to do than try to do? Understand the relationship between the physicality and the spirit. Within the third dimension, all the ego self can do is try, since it can’t get past its limitations. However, now that your cells have been supercharged, relax and allow the spirit to engage your soul… then your body must follow, as day follows night, as Shakespeare put it.’

‘I’m not sure what it means for my spirit to engage my soul since I only know about my mind and body.’

‘And that’s what’s holding you back; you’re using your mind to deny your soul.

‘I’m not sure what it means for my spirit to engage my soul since I only know about my mind and body.’

‘And that’s what’s holding you back; you’re using your mind to deny your soul. Remember, your soul has a mind of its own, so to speak, and so you can’t force what can’t be forced; you can only allow. Regardless of how many prayers, chants, and incantations you recite, only your spirit can do what the mind can’t. 285

Somehow, the police were able to locate me, perhaps from the car’s registration, and then immediately dispatched an officer to the campus.

‘Excuse me, Dr Phillips,’ he said as he abruptly opened the classroom door. ‘I need to speak with you. Please step into the hallway.’

I excused myself, whereupon he gave me the horrific news. ‘There has been an accident, sir. It involves your wife. '

My wife? Where is she?

‘In Emergency. Come with me. 305

The Elysium's Passage Novel Series is to be published in 2026 on Amazon

This synopsis provides a review of the series

.

1.      THE ASCENT is the first novel in the Chronicles of Elysium’s Passage that’s foundational to everything that happens in the following narratives, which embark on an adventure that will surprise and delight the reader like no other book. It all begins with an extreme adventure: climbing a remote, challenging mountain somewhere in the Andes. Just as James, the protagonist, is about to reach the mountain summit, he falls into an abyss that leaves him in a coma for almost a year. After being airlifted by a forestry helicopter and flown back to London, his body remained there for almost a year. Eventually, he learns it was not he but his body that was rescued. Several days later, without understanding what happened, he continues to climb to the summit in an alternate dimension of higher consciousness. Fortuitously, he meets two adventurers on the summit ridge who are no longer of this world. After that, his surreal life leads him to several new adventures in the subsequent chronicles, which include a rich mix of adventure, romance, and fantasy, along with profound discussions of philosophy, spirituality, and the afterlife.

2.      THE SUMMIT, the second novel in the Chronicles of Elysium’s Passage, carries on where James, the narrator and protagonist, is taught more about a multidimensional reality that he finds difficult to comprehend. Not only does he find he’s not as clever as he imagined, but his off-world companions on the summit demonstrate that much of what he believed about life was not just parochial but wrong. At first, he finds this difficult to comprehend because their teachings contradict his limited understanding of non-material reality. After being tricked into teleporting off a ledge where he was trapped, James becomes aware of a new reality that enables him to undertake far more adventures than he could ever have in his physical body back home. Now, if only he would win over the only woman in this life who matters, the nurse on the other side of the veil, who continually demonstrates her unconditional love toward his healing. This book may also open the reader’s eyes to a much vaster reality than many may be aware of. As with the other Chronicles, there are discussions of philosophy, the spiritual afterlife and what might seem like fantasy.

3.      QUANTUM LEAPS is the third novel in Chronicles of Elysium’s Passage, where James, the philosopher-protagonist, teleports back to London to visit his body and make contact with the special nurse taking care of it in his absence. Immediately, he feels an inexplicable spiritual bond with her for reasons he remains unaware of. Now aroused by a renewed interest in matters of love, the beginnings of a relationship begin to emerge as he attempts to reach across the chasm of their worlds. But it’s not until the fifth novel, Mystical Romance, that he encounters her in a way that he finds difficult to believe. However, before that can happen, there is much about his failed relationships that must be resolved before he is ready to move forward in his new life in Elysium’s Passage. It is during this time that he christens his comatose body as the fall guy since it took the fall for him down the abyss, so he could learn the lessons he’s now learning. That will be the next focus of his life, where, in his next Surreal Adventures, he is given virtual lessons to release many of his past beliefs about the world and his life

4.      SURREAL ADVENTURES is the fourth novel in the Chronicles of Elysium’s Passage, which finds James, the protagonist and narrator, escorted by his companions to a remote South Pacific Island, where he is left to reflect on what he’s learned. During the next forty days, he battles the demons of his past as he works through some rather painful issues from his early youth. Here, in a tropical storm, he encounters an eerie, suspended spectre of the one he loved yet still resents for abandoning him as a child. After this, he achieves peace of mind and is ready to return to his lodge to join his off-world companions on the Andes summit. However, just when it seemed things couldn’t get any stranger, a sixteenth-century sea captain sails his ancient ‘ghost’ ship onto the beach. Together, they sail off on a mystical ocean voyage to a couple of virtual islands supposedly in the South Pacific, where he witnesses and, at times, participates in several important life lessons. Near the end, these encounters help prepare him for a new challenge within a mountain, where he falls deep into a dark tomb of fear. After being rescued by a mysterious stranger wielding his Excalibur, he continues on to where his life is about to be transformed in the following chronicle, Mystical Romance.

5.       MYSTICAL ROMANCE is the fifth chronicle in Elysium’s Passage, which will surprise the reader with a romantic twist of how love is expressed in higher realms. From this lofty perspective, everything about intimacy is understood as within, so without. After escaping his tomb, James, the narrator and protagonist, makes his way through a maze of tunnels until he arrives at a large oak door, which he opens with the golden key he had been given. There, he steps into Elysium’s Passage’s Great Hall, where his life and recent achievements are celebrated now that his eyes have been opened to perceive a fascinating interior world of wonderment… and romance. To say more might risk diminishing the multitude of delightful surprises as circumstances begin to open to The Elixir, where James is about to re-enter his earthly body’s existence.

6.       THE ELIXIR is the sixth chronicle of the Elysium’s Passage series that prepares James, the narrator-protagonist, to awaken and return to his body in London. Before that can happen, however, his off-world friend presents a mysterious equation, enshrouded within a light code frequency, that will stimulate the multidimensional DNA strands within him. Much of this narration is centred in London, where his nurse unknowingly becomes involved in how the Elixir’s equation finds its way from a taxi cab driver to higher echelons of science. There are many twists in how she unwittingly brings the Elixir to the attention of mathematicians and physicists, after which they eventually discover how to code the equation into a laser ray to stimulate his fall-guy body into full consciousness. Ostensibly a new Adam, he is destined to return humanity to a higher multidimensional existence. How this happens is filled with intrigue, as is his shocking return to his earthly body.

7. THE RETURN is the seventh and last chronicle in the series where James, the narrator and protagonist, has re-emerged from Elysium’s Passage as he readjusts to life in the third dimension. Many of the events from the previous novels are woven into an exciting, fast-paced narrative spanning several countries.  At first, it seems all memories have been lost, with his fall guy’s brain not being aware of what happened to him while in his coma. As a consequence, it takes a while for him to be convinced that he had been out of his earthly body for almost a year. Through unexpected events and evidence, along with his girlfriend’s urging, he comes to realise what had occurred. It takes a while for his mind to catch up with the changes made in his heart during his stay in the alternate realm. But after experiencing several harsh realities, he discovers what he has become while out of his body. Gradually, he comes to understand the many challenges that lie ahead for him in fulfilling his future mission on Earth.
