5 Characteristics Shared by Successful Entrepreneurs

Launching a startup business is rife with challenges, and if you want to succeed as an entrepreneur, you need to be made of sterner stuff.
Granted, entrepreneurs, even the most successful ones, are only human. They’re far from perfect and they make mistakes just like everybody else. However, that didn’t stop them from achieving their goals and reaching their full potential.
While each entrepreneur is unique, the most successful ones do share common traits that catapulted them into financial independence.
Here are the personality traits that can have a large impact on your business’s success.
1. Consistency
To think like an entrepreneur is to think long-term. The moment you decide to run a business, you have to realize that you’re running a marathon, not a sprint. You will face obstacles and distractions and failures along the way. Sometimes you’ll feel disheartened and overwhelmed, and there may be times when you’ll entertain the idea of giving up. A great entrepreneur, however, will keep on running and hustling whatever it takes because he knows that with every little step, he’s coming closer to the goal.
2. Charismatic
If you want your business to grow you have to get used to communicating with different types of people. As a business owner, it’s imperative that you pitch your ideas and proposals to investors, fellow entrepreneurs, and your staff. If you’re not willing to communicate, then there’s no way you can convince and inspire people to believe in your products and services.
Do you feel that you’re not charismatic enough to be an effective networker? Don’t fret. According to a scientific study led by British Professor Richard Wiseman, charisma is an attribute that anyone can learn.
3. Passionate
What drives you? What makes you get up in the morning? What is your ultimate goal as you go through your day?
As an entrepreneur, you need to keep that fire within you burning in order for you to get to the finish line. You also have to believe that what you’re doing is making the world a better place in some form. Because when the tough gets going, it’s your passion and ideals that will keep you on the path you set out for yourself. When faced with seemingly insurmountable business challenges, it is your passion that will help you overcome them. It’s what will keep you soldiering on.
4. Flexible
As the cliche goes, change is the most constant thing in this world. That becomes even truer in the age of social media and digital communications. As such, entrepreneurs worth their salt know that they have to be flexible in order for their business to survive and thrive in an ever-changing business landscape.
Of course, the key to eventual success is the ability of an entrepreneur to keep his eye on the long-term goal despite the numerous detours he has to go through to get there.
5. Strong Sense of Self
Entrepreneurs need to have a strong sense of self in order to get far in their business endeavors. Because when all else fails, it’s their sense of identity that serves as the glue that keeps everything together. A CEO may be the most intelligent and most resourceful person in the room, but if he doesn’t have the confidence and the motivation to follow through on his goals, then chances are he will come up short.
