Does your life feel like a trap?
My fairytale turned into my nightmare - not to be too dramatic.
I had my son in February 2014, this was a planned and exciting time in my life.
I was excited to take on the challenge of parenthood, part of me was scared just as any new parent is, but I truly felt at ease.
My husband was away working a lot, we were prepared for this and knew it was going to be this way from the beginning. I thought I was willing to be at home and take care of everything except the finances.
It was only one year into my journey when I started to break down, I started to feel that the choice of parenthood may have stolen my life, the life I envisioned myself living. I had given up my career and agreed to be a stay-at-home mom.
Around this time, I felt like I was meeting other moms that possibly felt the same way but clearly would not talk about it... was it fear of being judged? Have you ever felt you can't talk to other mothers as if we all need to be in some weird competition even though we are truly in this together?
It got the best of me, the feelings would flood me as if I was alone, I was the only one having doubt. Was there something wrong with me? Am I ungrateful?
I was feeling that I wasn't cut out for being a stay-at-home mom. I was having conflicting emotions with the dream of being that 100 percent committed mother and the ambitious, driven, independent woman inside screaming to get out. Do you feel that woman inside you?
My husband was raised in very old school family dynamics, where the roles of a mother and father were black and white. Dad worked and was absent most of the time, mom stayed at home with the kids and was a home keeper. Therefore, for my husband it was very confusing when I started to express my pain and especially confusing when I was expressing it through envy of him being away.
He continued to live the same life he did before we decided to start a family, working and hanging with friends, we never seen him. The overwhelm of always being alone with my son combined with the ambition and drive eating me from the inside out was enough for me to start shaking hands with misery.
Of course, I didn't recognize what exactly was going on right away, because we never like to look in the mirror. As a result of this, my husband and I could not speak on the phone without being down each other's throats.
I blamed him for ALL my pain. If you can relate then you may agree that the feeling of being trapped, and possibly used is dominant in your life. The resentment chews at you, causing small time bombs to explode without notice. Each conversation or sign of lack of empathy from your spouse plants another bomb, that you have no access to defuse.
All I could see was the pain my circumstances were causing, the lack of attention I received from my husband, how he spoke to me or how he didn't, how he made me feel or how he didn't make me feel. It got to the point that one of us only had to breath at the wrong time, and war was declared.
He was gone for weeks, sometimes months at a time and I found myself crying in bed every night, at times I would curl up wrap my arms around my knees as tight as I could, and cry myself into anxiety attacks that hindered my ability to breath. When I came out of it, I wouldn't remember exactly why it started. Just another bomb's clock hit zero, I suppose.
It was when I couldn't bare the pain anymore that I started to search for work (even though it made no sense financially). After looking and applying, I received a couple calls for jobs that I couldn't accept because the hours I would be required to work conflicted with the hour's daycare was available.
Finally, I decided I was going to go get my Personal Trainer Specialist Certification and start my own business. I followed through and realized that I was still trading my time for money, a lot of time away from my son in order to make any real money at it. Not to mention I didn't even truly believe I was capable of running my own business, every move I made felt like it was in complete darkness, I couldn't see where I was going.
A friend of mine mentioned online personal training so I began my google search... "online personal trainer" "online marketing" ... It was two days in and I had stumbled across a video, what the guy in the video was saying seemed to hit my deepest pain, and I felt the dreamer waking up. It seemed like the solution to get out of my miserable relationship and the life that I was trapped in may have appeared in front of me.
What I didn't realize was that that click was going to change my life in ways I never imagined possible.
I received videos presented by the founders of The Six Figure Mentors and Digital Experts Academy explaining the tremendous opportunity that exists on the internet. I knew that people were making money on the internet but I always had this impression that it was a home based business where people sell candles or
Until I was provided with the information and education to change my skill set and understand every aspect of building a successful business, it didn't take much time at all (I think 2 days) for me to realize that this was much bigger than I thought. It was the future economy.
I went through all the recommended steps with the urgency of getting to the end so I could just make money and get out of my circumstances, but thankfully I was met with some reality checks. I was forced to look in the mirror and figure out exactly what was going on inside me.
Wondering how that happened when I was looking at just making money online? This may shock you, it did me. To build a SUSTAINABLE and SCALABLE business online you have to be authentic and have golden intentions for other people. We all have this impression that the internet is a pool of scammers.(when it was new, it was) What a wake-up call for me! The major online platforms are some of the largest companies in the world changing lives at a rate that is not possible in the traditional world.
I found myself in a community of like-minded people, real people from all backgrounds with their own struggles and experiences, all eager to support each other through the transition into the digital economy. This is where I learned my
Finally, I actually met myself. Surreal.
This experience has allowed me to take full responsibility and control of my life, it has given me the ability to have my two conflicting desires, leaving a mark outside the home and being a committed parent run seamlessly on the same path.
No more focusing on making money, because money is just a by-product of sharing the best you with the world.
That was a year ago. I have found what I am truly passionate about, my ambition is flowing without resistance and I am at home with my son, every day. Thanks to my laptop and my internet connection.
Still with me?
Why have I just shared my most vulnerable self with you?
Because it is not about me, it's about the extraordinary person reading this, that may be in the same place (or something similar) I was only a year ago. It's about the people who are not aware of the possibilities. It's about you.
If I can't share something that assisted me in changing my life, then what exactly is the point?

This information showed me a new way to not only get myself free and out of my current situation of feeling trapped. But also exactly how it's now possible in today's online world to be able to find opportunities that give me the ability to write my own paycheck and give me freedom to be the dedicated mother I want to be.
