One of the most important keys to life is the continuation of learning. Through learning, we can grow and develop our skills to follow specific career paths, a job of your dreams or just the curiosity of learning a new skill.
At school, we taught a formal primary education, and some of us advance to higher education like University. Well, those who can afford it. Whilst the majority merely fall into line get their first job that pays the bills and we eventually whinge and whine on how much you hate your post, not ever doing something about it, like teaching yourself a new skill and do something in this life that you honestly can say, “I love my job!” Self-education is essential for success and growth in life.
1. Find a Mentor
Learning a new subject can be daunting, and that goes for determining to start an online business, as my wife and I have found.
Where do you begin?
I don’t understand?
What else do I need to know?
And the list of questions goes on and on. We have always been keen on doing our own thing and why not learn to start your own unique online business as we have. We are not going to lie, every day is a school day when it comes to learning to start your own business, and the best way to attack this very daunting subject is to find a mentor and learn from the masters who are successful and have a proven business model.
We have managed to find great mentors from across all sorts of business realms and a community of people on the same journey, we can mastermind with like-minded people who help and share their wealth of knowledge to get you to lay the foundation down.
2. Believe in yourself
This is a subject that many people do not take seriously. We live in a time where we believe what we see or hear. This could be down to fake news that seems to be very common these days, lack of self-confidence and society telling you that because you don’t have higher education you will never be successful. “Bullshit”
I have friends with a primary high school education that have become so successful in their lives, some are running their own businesses. They have believed in their dream and focused their energy on achieving what they desire, and persistence has also been a key to their success. You can’t give up when the times get difficult, you just need to chip away at it, and you will eventually get over that wall.
Here are 3 of my favourite quotes that may put what I have just said into perspective.
"Don't limit yourself. Many people define themselves as what they think they can do. You can go as far as your mind lets you. What you believe, remember, you can achieve." Mary Kay Ash
"The man who moves a mountain begins by carrying away small stones." Confucius⠀
"Never give up on a dream just because of the time it will take to accomplish it. The time will pass anyway." Earl Nightingale⠀
3. Available Resources
We live in an era that is primarily made the world such a smaller place, thanks to the world wide web. This makes finding answers to our burning questions, research information, learn something new or looking to further your education so much easier to acquire in a minimal amount of time. I
Here’s a list of just a few available education resources you could dig into….
• Books – Buy online through Amazon (I prefer a hard copy, “Old Fashioned”)
• Online Forums
• Audio Books
• Open University
• Free online education (Alison, Coursera, open2study etc.)
What I am trying to say is, is that there are so many different opportunities out there to help you along your journey. But a word of warning, there are many scams and get rich schemes out there promising you the world, so please do your research very carefully before jumping in and having the wool pulled over your eyes
4. Ask Questions
Once you have joined a community with like-minded people, this will be the perfect opportunity to ask as many burning questions you may have about the subject at matter. There is no place like learning from the people who have been where you currently are and learn from their mistakes many your journey a more comfortable ride.
5. Get Started
Stop procrastinating! Don’t be like the majority of people and live your life in regret. Sometimes the best thing you can do is just jump right in and get started, as long as you have an end goal and do your research.
Experience can be the best teacher, and you’ll likely learn far more through trial and error than you would have just read or heard about those experiences. Are you going to make mistakes? Absolutely—that’s to be expected, but in the end, you will grow from it.
