IF YOU ARE TIRED OF SELLING A GAZILLION BICYCLES - IT IS TIME TO SELL A FERRARI.
Selling a gazillion bicycles may have served you well in the past, but if you grunt when you either stand up or sit down - if you are deep down tired and cannot dig any deeper - then it is time. Time to stop selling a gazillion bicycles and SELL THE FERRARI. It is time to work smarter - not harder.
I can, with all certainty, claim to have sold a Gazillion bicycles in my Hospitality sector businesses over the years. A few Ferraris too, I am thankful to add. Some of which came in the form of Michael Jackson, Nelson Mandela & to our events portfolio - we topped it off by adding the Olympic rings. We managed events and catered for some heavyweights in our time. Ferraris every one.
It was probably around the time that the Apostles ordered cappuccinos from our theatre based coffee shop, that I began to think it was time to bow out gracefully and find a way to work smarter. My portfolio had all the bells and ribbons I had strived for. I, however, just kept on doing more of the same because that was what I knew. I just kept on keeping on - Without a plan and clueless as to what else I could do. The older you get, the harder it is to make the changes and to take even small risks. It is not just our bones that grow a little more brittle - our minds to, become less flexible.
The definition of stupid is doing the same things over and over again expecting a different result.
Robert Kiyosaki of Rich Dad & the Cashflow Quadrant fame highlights the difference between being a business owner and self-employed this way: A business owner can leave their business for a year and return to find it in good health - better even than they had left it. If you cannot do that - you are self-employed. I could not ever imagine working for a boss - joining the Lemmings and heading into a job day after day. Self-employment for me was always the way to go. I thought about growing business within my niche industry and almost got there - but the more I created within my niche - the harder I worked:) I was clearly not doing something right but was not that interested in chasing down more bicycles.
The problem with being self-employed is the self - employment part. If you take your SELF out of the equation - for any reason: Ill health. Middle age. Fatigue. Loss of interest. Loss of hair. A sense of humor failure. Loss of anything really - you are no longer employed and the older you get - the more frightening that becomes. Without YOU - you have no income. End of story! Unless.
Unless you begin to think smarter.
If you were born in the 60's or 70's - you are going to need help. You can't head out commando into the internet - you need a Mentor. Now if you actually give yourself a break and allow for the potential and possibility of another way - even if you don't have a clue about the internet - you have to give this a fair try. It starts with keeping an open mind and then following your gut instinct as you have always done. You will know if this is the right path for you.
TAKE YOUR BUSINESS ONLINE. FIND THE FERRARI. CREATE A PASSIVE AND SUSTAINABLE INCOME. STOP TRADING YOUR TIME FOR MONEY. NOW THAT'S SMART.
