How to Stay Focused in Today's Digital Environment

The quote by Josh Billings:  “Be like a postage stamp. Stick to one thing until you get there.” caught my attention. I have tried to focus on my most important tasks, but I find staying focused to be an uphill battle. But instead of feeling defeated I have decided that I will benefit by paying attention to what is happening within myself that help me to move forward and feel more in control.

My first step is to accept where I am and treat myself with compassion by recognising my strengths, recalling challenges that I have overcome in the past, and affirming my capacity to solve problems.

The way we begin each day sets up the way we live each day. Finding the connection between mind and body is the key to knowing when to make a change. Awareness is the beginning of transformation.

Here 4 tips that have been helpful:

1. Maintain a good morning routine and be unapologetic about it

Many of us have decided to live a healthier lifestyle. We choose to wake up extra early, do meditation and go out to exercise, we follow that with a very healthy meal, and we are using it as a way to set up our day so that we can stay on track with our goals. We are doing something for ourselves. Don’t sabotage them, don’t feel guilty for having them. Schedule things for after and keep your routine and hold the ground.

2. Do a little self-analysis

How often do you ask yourself these questions?  How am I doing? How am I feeling at the moment? Are these things working for me? What are my successes? Where are the areas where I am slacking or not feeling great achievement? It is time just to schedule a meeting with yourself. Have a notepad to jot down some ideas of where you are and where you want to be. What is working, what’s not. We can prioritise and work on the areas that need more attention and continue to pursue the things that are. Get in touch with your Higher Self to generate wisdom, guidance, strength, hope. Our Inner Guidance will lead us when trying to make life changes and achieve our goals.

3. Honour your commitments

We have agreed to do certain things; we have a plan, it is the most joyful feeling to put into play what it is you have set up to do. Keep yourself on track in an organised way. When you get in the habit of honouring your commitments, you develop a sense of power and control over your life.  You become the type of person who does what you say you are going to do, and as a result, your self-image starts to transform. You become a better and newer version of yourself.

4. Create an environment of total focus

How many of us fall prey to distractions, both internal and external. We switch on the computer,  and before we know it, we are sitting there for an hour without having done anything for ourselves. The same applies to Social Media, we continually checking our phone, we go to bed with it we wake up with the phone. Of course, we are going to do all of these things but giving up time for the things you want to do; you may well find the strength to focus.

Hope these things help you in your journey in whatever it is you set forth for yourself. It is a process in your mission and that we get to celebrate together. I hope that your journey is giving you pleasure, it is giving you a little bit more insight into yourself.

I am curious to see how you are doing. Please share that below.

With much appreciation
