Get Serious!
Have you ever felt that sometimes it is easier to let important things slide and have some fun? I think it is pretty natural that sometimes you want to get the instant-gratification of a party or watching a movie or eating that delicious ice-cream ( while on diet). But the truth is that it would be better to skip the easy thing and go for the vastly greater reward you get with being disciplined.
I will give you an example, a couple of years ago I had to go to the military service in my country. I already had a job, so it was somekind of a struggle to figure out how to survive the next 9 months financially, as the allowance you get from the Defence Forces is marginal.
Luckily I got the notice half-a-year in advance, so I figured out that if I save money all of these months I can survive the time in the Army easily. So I saved the money and did not spend it at the time. It would have been a lot of fun to spend the money on clothes and parties, but I got serious and saved it. Thanks to that I actually survived the time in the Army financially and learned a great lesson in life.
